I couldn't even eat the lunch because of my sore cheek.

Nirvan had made me rinse my mouth with water so many times. When he checked the insides with a little torch, his face was so blank. "It will heal soon," he had told while I didn't believe him.

The bleeding had stopped but the pain didn't. Nirvan had given me a soft silk shred dipped in alcohol and asked me to keep it between teeth and cheek, until the pain would go away.

While Thomas was still being bandaged in the room where Pete was laid last night. Natalie and Axel ate the rice given to them quietly. Both weren't saying a word anymore.

Meanwhile, I had removed my jacket and was trying to rest. But my mind was a mess.

Gina left with brief hugs to me and Natalie. She told Axel, "I hope, you aren't lying about being her mate. Because if you are, you have wrath coming from two Alpha brothers and her true mate."

Axel didn't reply because he was pissed.

Natalie kept ignoring and instead asked me if I wanted to eat some. I shook my head. After some time, Nirvan came back with some green colored juice. The mere sight of it was giving me shivers.

"If you don't drink this, the cut won't heal. The swelling won't go. It will take more than two weeks to heal then. You don't want to avoid chewing food for that long. Right? Especially, speaking." Nirvan told me sternly. "It's just a tea mixed with a herb."

I took the glass for the sake of eating and speaking. I spat the silk swab in the dustbin that Nirvan had brought for me.

"Don't drink directly. I made it as thin as possible. Keep it in your mouth and rinse. Okay? The pain will go away and it'll heal faster than the speed of light." He encouraged while patting my back and glancing at bandaged feet and knees.

I cupped his hand, thanking him.

He took the plates from Axel and Natalie and asked them to wash their hands from the washroom in the room.

Checking the clock, I sighed. It was three in the afternoon.

"Natalie. Please try to understand why I—"

She glared at Axel so hard. "Don't you dare talk to me. I should have known, you are a liar. You hate me. You avenged the full moon night," she said through clenched jaws. "But I didn't know you would stoop so low by lying about being my mate. You are a selfish pig!"

Axel flared his nostrils and sighed heavily. "You are the selfish one here. Without understanding why I did all of this, you tried to strangle me."

Natalie huffed. "As if you were dying! Such an actor! Your claws were out and you could have ripped the shawl. But you were fooling all of us!" She said in a breaking voice. Her eyes turned glossy again.

Axel gulped hard angrily while observing her face. She lowered her eyes and started weeping again.

"I know what you wanted to do," said Axel quietly, making Natalie look at him in blankness. "It's wrong. You can't change the fate. Those who run away from problems, face them later when these problems get even bigger. I just stopped all of us from commiting a sin."

Natalie lowered her eyes and wiped her tears, sniffing slowly. "I hate you, Axel." She said in a low tone.

"No. You don't," said Axel while looking at her.

She shook her head. "Last night, your words, your kisses— everything was a lie. I can't believe you've fooled me," she said while her lips trembled for an upcoming sob.

"Right," he muttered quietly.

I glared at him while gulping down the bitter liquid. "You are truly a piece of shit," I said while controlling myself to not scream. Because my mouth pained like hell.

Axel looked at me and sighed. "Misty, don't do that. You are hurt—"

"Shut up!" I said angrily. "The worst thing you did was lying to Natalie! How can you do that to her! And stop this facade now! We aren't falling in your trap anymore! I can't believe, I thought that you were my friend! You are a douchebag!"

Axel opened his mouth to reply when all of a sudden, the door to Thomas' room opened and finally someone came out instead of just Nirvan going in and coming out.

My lips curled up as a wholesome overwhelming feeling spread over my heart. A loud sob escaped me and I put the glass away. Lowering my head, I covered my face with hands.

Within seconds, light footsteps occured and someone wrapped his arms around my head from my right side.

"It's okay. Easy," said Stephen slightly while rubbing my head in affection. "I know, this night had been too much for you. It will go away. This exhaustion. Soon, you and these three Chipmunks will be laughing at what you all did last night."

"I didn't do anything," I cried while Nirvan stood in the doorway, watching us with crossed arms across his chest.

"Right. But you should have stopped the twins from running away. No one leaves or enters the pack without the Alpha's permission," Stephen explained softly.

I looked up at him through blurry vision. "I don't want to get those whiplashes. Please, I'll die of the pain. They can't do this to me. Who uses whip in today's world? Where's Mom? I want to see her," I sobbed loudly.

"Calm down, Misty dearest. Nirvan was just being angry."

My eyes widened and I looked at Axel and Natalie. They both looked upset as usual. But there was no fear of whiplashes on their faces. My jaws clenched and the cheek hurt more. I glared back at Nirvan who was smirking and shrugging his shoulders at me. I could swear, I had started to imagine myself being all bonded in front of the whole pack and getting whipped.

"Luna's slaps and scoldings will be enough for your human self," smirked Nirvan as if it was all humorous.

More sobs escaped me while Stephen chuckled. I pushed my head in his stomach as he bent and hugged me properly. He walked around and sat on the chair on my right, putting the glass down on the floor.

"Nothing will happen," said Stephen. "Except for the wait for Thomas to get healed. The rules are equal for everyone. When Thomas gets healed, he will be punished."

"Too much for putting so much efforts in doing something that is useless," commented Axel.

Natalie flared her nostrils. "Too much for trying to be a loyal dog."

"Stop being a bitch, you too." Axel said angrily. "I did nothing wrong. You both were being childish. You nearly killed me again."

"That was the second time," warned Natalie while giving him the dead eyes. "Third time, you'll be going to the hell."

Axel stared at her, his eyes showing disbelief. "I believe in your words, totally."

"They fight like a mated couple. Don't they?" said Stephen while handing me the glass. I drank the juice slowly.

Natalie immediately looked up at Stephen. "Stop saying that. I should have realized it before. An Alpha's daughter? Not even in his wildest dreams! He lied to me!"

Axel covered his face with his big hands and sighed heavily.

Stephen smiled. "I wonder what more will become of you after you shift."

Nirvan chuckled. "Killing Axel would be the first thing she'll do."

Axel shook his head while Natalie glared at him. "I don't need to shift to make that happen."

I wiped my cheeks and looked at Stephen. "How is Thomas?"

He shook his head with a usual smile. "He's alright. Last two hours, I pulled out the glass shards from his torso. He'll heal. I fed him and listened to all the adventure you four did, last night. He is sleeping now. And he was praising Axel very much for the cookies that drugged him," said Stephen with a cheeky smile.

Axel sucked in a breath as both Natalie and I gasped. "What the hell?" I asked in disbelief. "That's why, Thomas was sleeping the whole time. Even I had felt the urge heavily."

Axel rolled his eyes while resting his back against the chair. "I did not let a she-wolf leave her pack without my Alpha's permission. And that's something not bad. I ate the cookies too. I controlled the intoxication and fought it hard to stay awake. I drove seven hours for nothing? You both are being just stubborn."

Natalie huffed and laid on the couch slightly. "Jerk. Jerk. A complete jerk."

Axel clenched his jaws and ignored her.

"What about Leo and Pete?" I asked.

Stephen tilted his head. "Pete is awake. His head injury will take time to heal. Malina hits badly. She can't fake attacking someone." He chuckled but his smile faded slowly. "Leo is still serious. He is in pain. Only herbs and motivation can bring him out of the phase Pete has put him in."

"What was Pete like when he woke up? Did he remember. . ." I couldn't complete my question as I tried to rest my cheek.

Stephen waved it off. "He had a poker face on. He didn't talk to anyone and walked out. Thank Goddess, Eva wasn't here. She had gone to pack her bags. She is taking Leo to his home. . . Their home. It's a good decision actually. The sand of his own land will heal some injuries effortlessly. But that is where the problems starts. He will heal. Cuts will be gone. Scars will be gone. But he will be paralyzed."

I sighed in discontent and empathy.

"I must go and take a round around the parking," said Nirvan, all of sudden. "Half of the members of each pack are leaving."

"Give this to your mate," said Stephen while bringing out a little wrapped box from his white coat. My eyes softened at the rough packing and the cute cream colored gift paper with hearts. Fiona was written with a black marker. "This was Lisa's bracelet that she would only wear at the bonfires. My mother had made it for using little marbles she collected from the Eastern Pack's river."

Natalie and I smiled as Nirvan's ears turned red. He walked ahead and looked at the little box in his hands. His eyes were holding so much surprise and love, he blinked and hugged Stephen immediately, bending down to his level.

"Thank you, Uncle Steph." Nirvan murmured on his shoulders.

Stephen chuckled and patted his back. "Send her Good luck on my behalf. We can't wait to see a white furry wolf roaming with you. Can we?"

Nirvan was beaming while pulling away and straightened up.

"Can I go and say bye to Gina, Alanna, Thea and others? Nina must be leaving too." Natalie asked with innocent puppy eyes.

"No," sang Nirvan while turning around and left the room. "And it's a Beta order. Stay there." He yelled from the corridor.

Natalie breathed angrily.

I looked at Stephen and blinked.

He had read my eyes and smiled. "I know, what you're thinking. If I have sent a gift like this for Keira or not."

I nodded quietly.

Stephen looked at his lap. "Fiona has accepted Nirvan as her mate. Her family came here to meet me yesterday. Very kind wolves. I know her father, Beta Merric from years ago. Our fathers were friends because of Beta contacts and meetings. Merric has been hardworking all his life. Now, his son, the current Beta of the pack, Elijah is mated to Alia from our pack."

Natalie huffed angrily while crossing her arms.

To infuriate her more, Stephen humorously added, "Just like how Nina is mated to their Alpha Mikhal."

"Seems like my luck is no more," muttered Natalie through gritted teeth.

Axel looked at her with an annoyed face. "Your mate's luck is no more."

Stephen wiggled his eyebrows at me cheekily while I controlled a smile. He continued, "Elijah is a good pup. But elder than Nirvan. He is twenty four. He told me how him and Ivan are good friends already. Fiona is the middle child. The younger sister, Sienna who is fifteen was very quiet. I tried to talk to her and she gave clever replies. Nirvan got the innocent one." He joked. "The younger one might get mated to an Alpha-blood who knows."

He lowered his eyes and thoughtfully said, "They have accepted Nirvan. Welcomed him in the family. Keira, Robert or Kate hasn't done the same yet. Ivan has to earn that. After their consent, I know what Lisa would have liked to gift a talented pup like Keira. He did great work last night."

I raised my eyebrows.

Stephen nodded in amazement. "I had taught him to do stitches and stuff that I had taught Nathan too. I taught Ivan more and asked him to read my old books. Looks like he did. He was clever last night. Leo's breathing was troubled and I had gotten scared. Because time was less. He was losing blood. Ivan came, took Declan's blood and passed it to Leo. All the machinery set up plus the botanical knowledge of herbs. I'd say, we would have nearly lost Leo if Ivan hadn't come on time," he whispered since Axel and Natalie were busy in glaring at each other.

I smiled sadly. "Keira reached there on the road before us. She wanted to go to City—" He cut me off.

Stephen nodded. "Ivan told me everything. He came up early in the morning to check on Pete. His bandage had to be changed on head. Plus, we were scared that if Pete gets up, he might do it again. You know, crossing the border. . . Keira was consumed in heat. The desire makes us do crazy things. One time, Iago had gone to other pack for Beta work and in the night, Taria's heat had approached. Nirvan wasn't even born then. She came here and tried to force on me. It was a very serious situation."

I gasped and covered my mouth as a loud laughter was close to escape me. I laughed quietly.

"Lisa was pissed. But thankfully, she understood the moment and helped me in drugging her. Iago returned and finally, the problem solved. Even today, I get scared whenever Iago goes out of the pack."

A snicker escaped me and my mouth hurt along.

"Keira is not letting the past go. And she won't until she is satisfied that Ivan is madly in love with her," whispered Stephen lightly. "It can only happen if Ivan mate her through this heat of hers. But she can't bear a pup this early."

I twitched my lips.

"Good things happen to good people after a lot of struggle," said Stephen. "Keira is way too nice to forgive Ivan easily and start their relationship already. I am proud of her that she didn't do the rituals this early. It would have only messed up the situation. She wants to realize his true love. But the scene with Eva has made her inferior in her own eyes. She feels that she is not up to the mark as Ivan had expected his mate to be. She compares herself with Eva secretly."

"This whole doubt and reluctance to accept Ivan will be gone one day, when she will realize the power of time. Eva did, now. Not even a day had passed of her accepting Leo and look what happened. While from past four years, she had been ignoring him. Even hurt him by getting physical to Ivan. The day, Keira will understand the importance of time, not care about the past, accept Ivan's advances of wooing her and understanding him—things will go right for them. And she'll get my gift."

I sighed heavily. "Your green muffler is washed and packed in my bag. Thought I would wear it in the college. But only if I reach the city. . ."

Stephen chuckled at my annoyed expressions.

"I seriously had made up mind and heart to meet Gran. I was so close to see her," I whispered to him. "She is old, Steph. I have spent here two months. We have never been that far away from each other. I need her and she needs me."

Seeing my glossy eyes, Stephen smiled. "Don't worry. Let the discussion about Natalie running away happen first. Then, Gilbert will send you with Nirvan or Robert."

I hoped so.

I nodded quietly.

"I need to go to Washroom," I said in my hoarse voice. Stephen got up immediately to take the empty glass and help me stand up.

"The potion's working already." He said while Axel walked to me.

"Let me help," he offered.

Stephen moved away. "Take her to the one at the end of the corridor. This one's flush isn't working. While I will go check if Leo's ready for the travel. Eva must be coming here any soon."

Axel carried me in his arms, fumbling with the extra skirt of the dress. "This gown is heavier than you," he said while turning us around.

"Wait until you weigh my crown," I retorted.

He rolled his eyes and smiled slightly. "Misty, I only did right. I thought you would understand me," he said while looking ahead and reaching the dark end of the corridor.

He bent down to let me stand near the seat and switched on the light from inside the washroom.

I winced when my knee ached a little. "I do. You did right by being loyal to your pack. But you lied to Natalie about being her mate, Axel. That was low. She is hurt." I reasoned.

He stared at me with helplessness on his face. As if he wanted to explain so many things to me.

But then, he only nodded. "Call me when you are done," he said while closing the door and twisting the knob from the outside.

Did I just see guilt in his eyes?
