ALEXANDRA

Being careful of my baby girl's fragile little body, I slipped on the gold dress Harry and I had gotten her for this precise night.

"Don't you look precious, sweet girl? Mummy loves you so very much, Angel." I murmured, picking her up from her changing table and sitting her on my hip.

"Mama!" Scarlett giggled into my neck where she had nuzzled her chubby face. I chuckled fondly at my little girl's silliness.

"Let's go find Daddy. He's going to be so happy when he sees how beautiful you look in your new dress." I whispered to her gently, carding my fingers through the small ponytail I had done on the top of her head.

"Dada!"

HARRY

"Alright everyone, gather around; we've got five minutes left before the New Year." Mum announced. Alexandra's family, along with my own, entered the living room where they all sat down to chat with each other whilst we waited.

Five minutes.

Five minutes before the New Year.

Five minutes before my life changes. For the best, I hope.

I walked over to where Alexandra was standing with our daughter in her arms. When Scarlett caught sight of me, her little face broke out into an adorable smile. I cooed quietly to myself; I'm so in love with my daughter. I'd give up my life for her.

"Hi Angel." I laughed gently, placing a round of kisses onto her cheeks. "Dada!" She giggled preciously. Alexandra smiled at us both before leaning up to peck my lips.

"We've got two more minutes left, H. You excited for the New Year?" Alex questioned as she kissed our daughter's head.

Oh, my love, if only you knew just how excited I am.

"Incredibly so." I replied, a gentle smile on my face features.

"We have a minute left!" Gemma squealed excitedly.

Here goes nothing.

"59!"

"Alexandra," I sighed shakily. Alex looked away from the window to glance at me.

"Yes, my love?" She questioned warmly. I took in a deep breath, looking into her gorgeous eyes.

"46!"

"You mean the entire universe to me. I don't know who or where I'd be without you and our daughter. I would give up my life for the both of you. We've had our ups and downs, I know, but at the end of the day, we work our way through them." I stated nervously. Alex had a worried expression written all over her face, grabbing my hands in her gently, she stroked my hands with her soft and gentle one.

"Harry what's going on?" She murmured.

"22!"

"I love you to the moon and back. You've been my sweetheart since I could remember. You're mine and I'm yours. For as long as you'll have me. I've loved you since the moment I first saw you in high school. There hasn't been a doubt in my mind that you're the one for me; my true love." I declared, tears forming in my eyes.

"Hazza," Alex whimpered. I knelt down in front of her, my hands slipping  out of hers and into my pocket.

"5!"

"4!"

"3!"

"2!"

"1!"

"Will you marry me?" I asked, by now tears were making their way down my cheeks like a waterfall.

"Happy New Year!" Everyone around us cheered, though the majority of them were waiting for Alexandra's answer.

She stood before me with our daughter in her arms absolutely frozen in place. Her beautiful face was wet with her tears. My Mum walked up to her and took Scarlett from her arms, flashing her a reassuring smile.

"Alex," I murmured nervously, gazing up at her desperately.

"Of course I'll marry you! Yes! A million times yes!" She sobbed as she threw herself in my arms. I let out a cry of complete and utter happiness, wrapping her up in my arms and squeezing her tightly. Our friends and family who had just witnessed my proposal, erupted into loud cheers, and cries of happiness.

"I love you, I love you so incredibly much. Thank you for this. I promise you, my love, you won't ever regret this. I'll take care of you and our daughter. I'll make you so happy." I cried into her hair.

"I know you will, H. I love you so much." She grinned tearfully as she pulled away to cup my face in her hands to connect our lips in a kiss.

"Oh, I almost forgot." I chuckled after a few moments of us embracing each other, pulling away from Alexandra and opening the small black box to reveal the diamond ring to her.

"It's beautiful, Harry." She gasped as I took the ring out of the box and grabbed Alexandra's left hand in my own so I could slip the gorgeous ring on my fiancée.

"I love you, baby. Thank you so much." Alexandra giggled, tears filling her eyes once again.

"No sweetheart, thank you for making me the happiest man on this planet." I confessed, wrapping her up in my arms and kissing her hair.

This really is the best way to start the New Year.
