"If it isn't the future Mrs. Kioko." Faith, the receptionist and Gabriel's clinic greeted as soon as she spotted me walking into the oddly quiet clinic.

I came here often so I was already familiar with everyone who worked here. Faith was short, plump with brown skin, curly dark hair, a youthful face and a had tongue for gossip. Anything going on in the hospital, she knew and wasn't afraid to share it with anyone. It was all in good Faith though as she didn't do any harm sticking her nose around people's business. See what I did there with her name? No? Never mind.

"Sasa Faith, habari yako?" I greeted.

Hello Faith, how are you? "

"Mimi niko poa labda wewe."She replied with a smile.

I'm good. How about you?

"Niko poa pia. Nimekuja kuona daktari." I requested.

I'm good too. I'm here to see the doctor.

"Mbona unaniuliza ni kama haujui ofisi yake."She asked in a teasing tone.

Why are you asking me as if you don't already know where his office is.

"Hakuna dakatari mwingine ako available. Nataka kuangaliwa."I asked her.

Isn't there anyone else available? I need a check up.

"Aii kwa nini sio bwanako? "Faith asked clearly shocked that I wanted to see anyone else but Gabriel.

Why not just see your husband?

Faith wouldn't get me any help with the sensitive issue that I needed handled without getting Gabriel involved.

"Ni sawa acha nikamuone."I said excusing myself.

It's okay let me go see him.

"Bye."She said waving at me with a smile which I made sure to return.

I knew Gabriel was on duty right now so I avoided his office and walked the opposite way. I didn't want to deal with him right now until I confirmed my suspicions. I looked around until I found a doctor's office I was familiar with who would treat me with care and respect. I loved Gabriel and I respected his work but some of the people he hired especially the nurses were mean, rude and gossips. A few doctors fell into that category seeing as they loved to tease me and hit on me whenever Gabriel wasn't around or paying attention. I hated that by the way but I could still handle them and the minute I couldn't defend myself anymore I was telling on them to my husband to be. Call me a tattletale but I was engaged to the boss.

That was still crazy by the way. I was engaged. It had been three blissful months of engagement and I felt like I was always in a cloud. Gabriel and I decided to get married as soon as possible so we were getting married next month. We had done everything that was needed including visiting both families and having them meet each other. My mom was thrilled to finally have a son in law she could call to complain about me. Isn't she just the sweetest? Gabriel's family had been happy to have me back and after a few tense moments everything went back to normal.

So the wedding preparation was going smoothly with the help of my two best female friends. Ava had given birth to a bouncing baby boy two weeks after Gabriel proposed. They names him Niall. He wasn't named after me but they adapted his name from mine which I found very cool. Vera was currently two months along and I was very happy for her. Looks like our kids were going to grow up together after all and become best friends. Well at least I hoped so depending on how this meeting went.

I knocked on Dr. Mwenda's office and I heard a gruff response before I opened the door and let myself in.

"Nia what a pleasant surprise."He greeted getting up from his chair to shake my hand.

"Hello Daktari. I need your help."I replied sitting down and getting straight to the point after he motioned for me to take a seat.

Doctor.

"I assumed you've come to me because you don't want Gabriel to find out. What seems to be the problem?"He asked and I nodded in agreement.

That's why I liked Dr. Mwenda. He was nice and professional. He was a my senior with at least ten years and had a beautiful wife and three wonderful kids. He was a family man so I knew he would understand my situation and help me out.

"I think I maybe pregnant. Actually I may I already know. I just want to be completely sure and get to know how far along I am."I explained.

And there it was people. My prayers had been answered. I was ninety five percent sure of it and those were pretty good odds to me. I was carrying Gabriel's and I little creation in my belly. Time to confirm it.

"That's an easy fix. We can do a blood test or a urine test to confirm."The good doctor informed me.

"Which is faster?"I asked.

"The urine test is."He replied with a smile at my eagerness.

"Then let's do that."I announced and he gave me smile.

"Okay just take this cup, go into the bathroom, pee in it and hand it over to the lab then come back in fifteen. Ill have you're results ready by then."He informed me handing me a cup which I took with a grateful smile.

I did all that he asked and handed my pee to the guys in the laboratory. That was a disgusting thing to do but whatever, I needed to be sure. I sat outside his office counting down time before I had to go back in and confirm my suspicions.

I was really super excited about all this and I knew Gabriel would be too. I'd missed my periods this month and having been regular ever since I started menstruating seventeen years ago that was a big sign. I had also stopped taking contraceptives as soon as Gabriel and I had had the baby talk and agreed that it was time to start a family of our own. He would be over the moon once I shared the good news with him.

"Love?"

Speak of the devil and he shall appear. I sat up and faced Gabriel who looked at me quizzically wondering what I was doing on the opposite side of his office.

"Hey baby. "I greeted with a shy wave and a quick kiss to his lips.

"What are you doing here? "He asked looking around clearly confused.

"Am here to see Dr. Mwenda."I replied.

"Why? Are you sick?"He asked worriedly giving me a once over.

"No am not just here for a routine check up." I replied immediately feeling guilty for lying to him but I had to be sure first.

"Well I could have easily given you a check up."Gabriel said wriggling his eyebrows playfully and I laughed swatting his bicep.

"I know you could but only you Gabriel Kioko can make even taking my temperature turn into something naughty."I replied.

"It's because every piece of you is very sexy especially your mouth and your ... "I slapped my hand over his mouth glaring at him before he could finish that sentence.

Gabriel and I were very adventurous with our sex life but I drew the line at having sex with him at the clinic and my office. Our places of work were scared and I wasn't going to contaminate them with Gabriel and I having sex there. It just didn't sit right with me.

"Behave Gabe. "I reprimanded taking my hand off his mouth.

"Yes ma'am."He replied and pulled me in for a hug which I didn't object to. Who didn't like hugs from their man? Especially if he was as warm and cuddly as mine was with muscles in all the right places.

"Don't you have patients to see to. I'm just waiting for the results then I'll come see you and we can go for lunch."I said hoping to get rid of me so I can get my results back and read them in privacy first before I had to share the news with him.

"I'll wait with you."He declared.

"No baby it's okay."I refused politely knowing if I forced it any harder he would detect that I was lying and demand the truth for me.

"If I didn't know any better I'd say you were trying to get rid of me." He said pouting at me and I couldn't help but kiss the pout away.

"What if I am? Maybe I want Dr. Mwenda to take my temperature again. "I said wriggling my eyebrows at him making him laugh.

"If I didn't know him and his lovely wife were happily married I'd worry but am not so I'll see you later baby. Come see me immediately after."He said kissing my forehead.

"I will."I replied.

But as always lady luck was not on my side because Dr. Mwenda chose that exact moment to walk out of his office holding an envelope which I assumed held my results. Gabriel noticed him too and before I realized what was happening he took the folder from the other doctors outstretched hand.

"Babe you're results are here. Good timing Daktari. We can go now."He said appreciatively. Dr. Mwenda just gave me and apologetic smile before walking back into his office.

"Can I see what they say? " I requested fingers crossed.

"Let me check for you."He said already peeling the seal off.

"No!" I exclaimed loudly snatching the envelope from him." I'll do it."I said in a much softer tone when Gabriel looked at me weirdly wondering why I had shouted like that.

"Babe it's just simple details about you. Let me see. Maybe you need to reduce you're sugar intake." He said teasingly with a chuckle grabbing back the envelope.

Before I could reach out and grab it back he held it out of my reach and began opening it. Damn me and my small stature next to this giant next to me. I gave up trying to hop up and down to reach it because I knew it was useless and allowed him to just read it. He was going to find out sooner or later anyway so why not make it now.

As soon as he took the single sheet out and read what it entailed his whole body froze and that could only mean one thing. I was right. I was pregnant with our baby. I already knew I was but this just made it more real. A smile spread on my lips and my hands went directly to my stomach. I rubbed it over the warm sweater I was wearing. There was life growing inside of me. Gabriel and I were going to be parents.

"Is this what I think it is? "Gabriel asked getting over the initial shock as he stared at me waiting for confirmation and I nodded at him.

"Yes baby we are going to be parents."I announced and he smiled widely before pulling me into his arms lifting me completely off the ground and twirling me around. I couldn't help but laugh and tighten my hands around his neck.

"I can't believe this. We're actually gonna be parents to a little girl."Gabriel announced joyfully once she stopped moving around.

"What's if it's a boy? "I asked looking at him as I caressed his face.

"It's going to be a girl. I can feel it." He replied smugly.

"Feel it? You didn't even know till two minutes ago."I said.

"Whatever. Wait, we have to tell everyone. My family and yours and of course the gang. Vincent is gonna love this."Gabriel said excitedly and I just stared at him with love.

Yep. He was definitely going to make a great dad.

"I love you papa to be."

"And I love you mama to be." He replied before leaning in and giving me a short sweet kiss that had my toes curling in my boots.

"Now let's go get a ultrasound so we can see our little munchkin."Gabriel said before adjusting me in his arms so he was carrying me bridal style. I was definitely going to be pampered throughout this pregnancy and I liked that thought a lot.

"Thank you for this gift my love."Gabriel said looking at me adoringly.

"You're welcome baby. And thank you for waiting for me and being mine forever. "I replied smiling at him.

He leaned in and kissed my forehead while he was still carrying me in his arms. This for me was perfect and now my life was complete.

The girl who once didn't believe in love thrived on it because she had found the perfect someone to make her believe and now we were going to spend the rest of our lives together spreading love to each other, our loved ones and our kids.

It was him and me for life. And oh yeah. Our beautiful kids too.

FIN!!!!!
