Nathan was relieved to get into the prism-shaped building. The air in there felt normal, just like it did in his apartment. He was a bit stunned at how large the inside of the building was because it looked a lot smaller from the outside.

A crowd of people were already in the building and a quick scan revealed that the females were greatly outnumbered by the males. It was almost a ratio of seven to one and Nathan wondered what the reason for the disparity was.

"Is there some genetic factor that makes it more likely for males to survive a natural disaster?" He thought.

It was a known fact that males were physically stronger than females but still, that didn't explain the disparity in the sexes of the survivors.

Something else caught Nathan's attention as he surveyed the crowd. They all looked perfectly healthy. There were no crutches, bandages or casts to indicate broken body parts, neither did anyone have bruise marks on them. It seemed every survivor on MoonEx survived the catastrophic events of the Earth's destruction unscathed.

"What are the odds?"

He remembered being slammed against various objects as the chaos swept through the Earth. He felt the pain of each hit and saw other people die from the same scenario but somehow, he was rescued without as much as a bruise. He initially passed it off as a streak of luck but common sense told him it would take a lot more than luck for every survivor to escape without injuries.

"Perhaps they only evacuated the lucky ones. Since they are short on medical supplies, maybe they left the injured ones behind."

As unfair as that sounded, it made sense to Nathan. The government had to make a tough choice. The healthy ones had a better chance of saving humanity from extinction.
