I wandered the castle corridors slowly, taking great care as I passed guard members. I was sure on some level I wasn't held too kindly in Aro's regard, but I hoped that would dwindle over time.

The Elite guard seemed unbothered by my presence, Felix and Demitri grinned as they flew past me, no doubt off to do something violent if the joy in their expressions were anything to go by.

I turned a hallway, stopping as I caught sight of that door I had metaphorically and physically opened and closed between my old life and my new life.

I still harboured some resentment at how I was changed and I still planned to give Caius hell for it for the rest of eternity but it was in the past now, if I carried that rage full force with me, I'd never live in peace, which is all I wanted now.

All the time in the world meant I could read every book if I tried. It meant being able to try everything I was never able to as a human, or wouldn't have had the time to try.

I still wanted my humanity back, the chance for a family, the ability to eat normal food again and drink coffee.

But I'd promised Bella I'd try and live now, so that was the plan.

My feet had carried me to a set of double doors at the end of the same corridor.

I pushed open the door and there, reading by the open window, was Caius.

"I thought I'd find you here." I said softly, walking closer to him.

His blood-red eyes caught mine and they softened immensely, though I have no doubt he was still irritated with my disappearance. "That makes one of us, as I didn't think I'd find you back here so soon, if at all."

I winced, realising that the anger I'd harboured so long had caused quite the rift between us.

"Did Aro tell you what he saw in Alice's vision?" I asked, curiously.

Caius placed his book on the side table and regarded me for a second before shaking his head. "Of course not, if it rattled him so much I doubt he'd ever share."

"Edward told me, what she saw," I bit my lip, not wanting to continue but in doing so I'd gain back my chance to start again. "You all died, not that I was around long enough to see it all." I told him, not looking in his direction.

"What do you mean?"

"The Denali's wanted revenge for Irina, they killed you in front of me, burned you to ash," Caius' hand caught mine tightly. "I guess I was heartbroken, Edward tells me that I screamed and those closest to me turned to dust because of my power, then so did I."

I took a deep, unneeded breath. "What I'm trying to say is that I'd clearly be a mess if I lost you. But I don't love you," He pulled away from me and stood, turning away from me. "Because I don't know very well, but I'm willing to change that, let me fall in love with you, my way."

I stepped forward, gently placing my hand on his arm, feeling the soft satin of the black dress shirt he wore. His sleeves were rolled up to his elbows and in all honesty, he looked delicious.

I tugged him around to face me and then slowly leaned up to place a gentle kiss on his lips.

His surprise quickly morphed into joy and hunger as he stole a longer kiss, his hands coming up to cup my cheeks.

I laughed and pulled away to marvel at my own skin as the setting sun lingered on us from the window.

"Welcome home, Evelyn." Caius muttered, kissing my forehead softly.

a/n: so, that's it huh.

don't cry, don't cry, don't cry, don't cry.

This is the first time I've ever managed to complete anything I've written. It was difficult, but I finally got here. You guys believed in me so much and never gave up, even when I disappeared for months on end, so I dedicate this final piece to you guys and to my best friend for always giving me the motivation to continue even when I thought I couldn't.

There will be a bonus book uploaded at some point in which I post little snapshots that we didn't see here, I'll update this book to let you know when that's out if you're not checking in on my account.

Other than that, read on to find out what's coming next or where else you can find me.
