Aro stepped back, dropping Alice's hand, his expression marred with shock or horror, perhaps a mixture of the two.

His gaze dipped behind her, to us, to the witnesses before flickering back to her.

All was quiet for a moment.

"Now you know," Alice told him coldly, "that's your future. Unless you decide on another course."

Caius stepped forward. "We cannot alter our course. The child still poses a grave threat."

"But what if you were sure she could remain concealed from the human world." Edward called out, a knowing in his voice that confused me. "Could we leave in peace?"

"Of course, but that cannot be known." Caius replied, unsure where this was going.

"Actually, it can."

Alice began to walk towards us, sharing a small smile with Edward. Clearly they knew something the rest of us didn't.

Feet crunching in fresh snow along with the sound of something jingling together sounded across the all but silent clearing.

I turned, watching as two figures approached, dressed in clothing too warm for this environment.

The closer they came, the more I began to notice a faint beating, fast but soft, like Renesmee's.

"I've been searching for witnesses of my own," Alice spoke, turning back to face the Volturi with the strangers at her side. "Among the Ticuna tribes of Brazil."

"We have enough witnesses." Caius interrupted, becoming impatient.

"Let him speak, brother." Aro said, his tone final. He seemed just as intrigued as the rest of us to know what these strangers had to say.

"I am half human, half vampire. Like the child." He spoke softly. "A vampire seduced my mother, who died giving birth to me. My aunt, Huilen," he motioned to the woman next to him. "She raised me as her own. I made her immortal."

"How old are you?" Bella interrupted, pushing forward and pulling Edward along with her.

"150 years." I saw their relief as they realised that Renesmee's increased growth rate didn't mean they would have less time with her.

"At what age did you reach maturity?" Aro asked, desperate for more information.

"I became full grown 7 years after my birth. I have not changed since then."

"And your diet?"

"Blood, human food. I can survive on either."

Marcus looked towards Aro and spoke, " These children are much like us."

"Regardless, the Cullen's have been consorting with werewolves. Our natural enemies." Caius was reached for reason to behead something.

I rolled my eyes. "Caius," I said, ignoring all the eyes that landed on me. "Shut up."

Caius' angered gaze was removed from me by Aro delicately placing a hand on his shoulder and shaking his head. Caius seemed shocked that Aro was so willing to let this matter go, but no one other than Alice and Edward knew what he had seen in Alice's vision. I was thankful that it was enough to get them to dismiss the trial.

Aro's gaze flittered over us before he turned to his people. "Dear ones, there is no danger here. We will not fight today."

It was all that was needed as the majority of the Volturi disappeared in seconds. Caius hesisted, looking towards me, no doubt waiting for me to join him.

I shook my head and his jaw clenched as he nodded once to me before leaving.

Aro was all that was left as he turned to look at us once more. "Such a prize." He muttered, looking at Alice, Bella and I before he too, left.

Vladimir and Stefan stalked forward. "We have them on the run, now is the time to attack."

"Not today." Carlisle shut them down.

"You're all fools! The Volturi might be gone but they will never forgive what happened here."

I rolled my eyes as they disappeared. I hoped never to see them again.

As everyone rejoiced, I slowly walked towards a small pile of dust in the middle of the snow.

"Evelyn?" Bella called out.

I knelt down over what was left of Irina and slowly raised my hand, focusing all my energy into what I wanted.

I sighed as the dust remained still.

Standing, I began to walk away when a tinkling glass like noise sounded behind me and gasps came from my family and friends.

"Irina!" Tanya cried, zipping forward and slamming her confused sister in a tight embrace. Kate stared in shock before joining the rest of her family.

"How did you do that?" Carlisle asked, "I didn't even know it was possible."

I shook my head. "I didn't either. But it didn't feel right not to try."

"Thank you." The Denali sisters thanked me in unison, still in their embrace.

Smiling, I walked over towards Bella. "I couldn't stand to lose my sister, so I'm glad I could bring her back to you."

V

"Do you really have to say goodbye?" Bella asked, refusing to let go of me.

I laughed and squeezed her tight. "Yeah, I should probably go explain myself to Caius."

"They're not gonna hurt you are they?"

I shook my head. "Alice already told me what's gonna happen, I'm safe, don't worry, Bells."

"I'm gonna miss you."

I hugged her again, feeling extremely sad that I had to say goodbye. "I'm gonna miss you too, but I'll be around. I promise."

With that, we parted ways before I found some reason to stay.

I had one last stop before I returned to Volterra.

For the first time in 6 months, I found myself outside of my childhood home. I watched silently as Charlie and Sue sat cuddled up on the sofa watching some old movie I knew was his favourite and the best part? They were laughing so hard they were crying.

I'd been so worried that after Bella and I had been changed, that he would be sad and lonely. I'd never been more thankful for someone than I was for Sue Clearwater.

I turned away from the window and sat down on the little concrete step outside, just under the shelter of the back patio.

I tensed as I heard the door close and footsteps I knew so well came closer.

"You always used to come out here when your mom and I were fighting, no matter the weather." He said, not looking at me as he sat down beside me.

"It's because there used to be a nest of sparrows in that tree over there," I said pointing just ahead of me. "They used to be so loud all the time, I couldn't really hear the fighting when I was out here." I shared, knowing this would be my last chance to do so.

"You had me worried, Evie, all this time, I didn't know where you were, if you were okay. Could'a been dead for all I knew." His voice was gruff and I knew him well enough to know he was fighting back tears.

"I know, and I'm so so sorry. But things just happened and I couldn't come back."

"You're different, you're still my little girl but something's not right."

I sighed, trying not to breath in, just in case his blood tempted me. I'd fed on animals since I came back, but a week was nothing and so I knew my eyes were still blood red.

"I'm still me, dad. I still love you. But I came to say goodbye."

"No, you know what, I almost lost Bella already, I'm thought I'd lost you, you're not going anywhere until I find out what the hell is going on." He raised his voice and I cringed.

Turning to face him, I saw his eyes widen as they took in mine.

"Evie, what the hell is going on?"

I laughed harshly and shook my head. "If you've seen Bella then you know I can't tell you, it's-"

"To protect me, yeah right." He sounded resentful and it broke my heart.

"You and Sue look good." I muttered, trying to redirect the conversation.

He nodded. "Yeah, she's helped me through a lot, it's nice to have someone, you girls are off doing your own thing now, it's good." Things became familiarly awkward.

I lunged forward, wrapping my arms around my unsuspecting father.

"It's safer for me to be away from you dad, but I want you to know that I wish I could stay with you for the rest of our lives. I love you."

I felt his tears hit my shoulder and all I could do was squeeze him tightly.

"I'm proud of you, both of you. I know I don't need to know what's going on with the two of you, but I don't want to lose either of you."

I was damning Jacob to the lowest level of Hell for introducing Charlie into this world.

"You won't." I said before I pulled away and stood.

Charlie took a long look at me before grabbing me in another tight hug.

"You'll come and see your old man sometimes, alright?"

I laughed, reminiscing on our reunion when I first came home.

"Who're you calling an old man. You got yourself a hot date and the house to yourself, what the hell are you doing out here with me." I joked, watching his cheeks burn red whilst he shook his head.

"See you around kiddo."

"I love you, dad." Was all I could reply before I walked away at a human enough pace. As soon as I was out of sight, I ran until I was miles away.

I was partially glad that he knew something was different, otherwise I fear he might have tried to ground me to my room for the next decade at least.

It didn't make saying goodbye any easier though.

I was going to miss him more than words could describe.

I wanted to go back, to Forks, to Bella and my father, to where I belong.

But I had one more place I needed to be.

a/n:

you're all welcome. I didn't kill her. Almost did, but my inital plan was never to kill her, so thank your lucky stars. I'm not a huge fan of the ending between her and Charlie, I feel like there's a lot more than could have been said, but it just wouldn't come to me.

So who knows, maybe it'll come to me when I edit.

This is the last chapter guys! I only have the epilogue left and some bits and pieces before I officially mark this complete.
