EBONY'S POV

I laid down on the cold hard floor and curled up in a ball as I cradled my growing baby bump. The baby was growing at a rapid rate inside me, and I could feel its power growing more and more every day. The baby could almost command me to do anything it wished, and as the days went along, I could feel myself losing the battle to fight it. I had no will of my own anymore and my body was slowly becoming weaker as the baby took everything from me. I had nothing but the comfort of the deep voice in my head from this stranger called Carter. His voice soothed my angry soul and gave me little hope that I would survive this world.

"I'm coming for you my sunshine...just hold on please..."

I closed my eyes and felt a tear fall from my eyes as the baby started thrashing around at the sound of Carter's soothing voice. Pain radiated through my body as the baby stretched my organs to their limits. "Stop! Please stop..."

"You are not as strong as you once were." The darkness said suddenly standing over me. "You are weak and pathetic. I made you strong but now you cower on the floor because of a little pain. Pain means power. Embrace it like you once did..."

I moaned loudly as the pain radiated through my body like lightning. It felt like I was being ripped apart as the baby tried to claw its way out of me.

"Ahhh, my child knows it's nearly time. It can feel the universe calling for it." The darkness picked me up off the floor as I screamed out in terror. "You disappoint me. I see now that I have no use for you once my child is born. You are pathetic." The darkness growled in my ear as it shook me. "That life on earth made you weak and the vampire will pay for this...

"What vampire do you speak of?" I whispered as the darkness dropped me to my knees.

"The one that is about to die a horrible and prolonged death. The one they now call Carter Morgan." The darkness grabbed my hair as it pulled my head back and leaned over my weak body. "Don't worry, you will be there to watch his final moment. You will be the last thing the creature sees before he meets his death." The darkness surrounded me and squeezed my entire body tightly as I gasped for air. "And once he dies, there is no need for you anymore."

I felt a tear fall from my eye again as I clutched my baby bump and the darkness disappeared. I fell to the floor and closed my eyes tightly waiting to hear his voice one last time...

"I'm coming for you baby. Please, if you can hear me hold on. I need you to be strong and hold on just a while longer..." His deep voice faded away into the deafening sound of silence that I was now used to.

"I can't..I'm sorry...Goodbye vampire Carter...Goodbye..." I whispered as I fell to the floor.

CARTERS POV

"Carter, are you sure about this?" Leon whispered in my ear as we watched Ebony's lifeless body being placed on a table in the middle of the room by the witches. They covered her body with branches and leaves from the forbidden forest and I felt my body tense up as I watched the witches once again perform a protection circle around her. Her body had been preserved by a spell and she looked like she was sleeping with her rosy cheeks and subtle skin. They had stopped the decaying process and preserved her youth and I felt my whole body tingle as I watched her body glow under the protection spell. I then felt the heartache as I realised she was still gone. I felt the familiar ache of emptiness inside me as I pictured her scared and hurt and then I felt the rage build as I pictured myself killing the darkness slowly...very slowly for hurting my Sunshine.

"Boss, ummmm...Ariel is here to see you." I heard Jake in my ear. "He said it's imperative that he speaks to you right now."

"I'm a tad busy right now Jacob," I said turning to look at him. "Why can't he come to me?"

"Well, he can't enter the building..."

"What?"

"Yeah, the protection spell keeps out the darkness and angels. His ass was zapped harder than that time we raided that zombie brothel In Amsterdam and that dead chic held you down and..."

"Yes, thank you, Jacob. I don't need to relive that moment." I felt a shudder run down my spine as I remembered that brothel and the overzealous zombie girls with tasers. I still have that scar on my ass.

"She tasered the shit out of you and you still kicked her ass." Jacob laughed. "Good times."

"Tell Ariel I will be with him in a moment. I just need to talk to....." I looked over at Ebony's body. "I will be there soon."

"She looks just like...normal," Jacob said looking over at Ebony.

I nodded my head and sighed loudly.

"Whatever it takes boss. We'll get her back whatever it takes." He put his hand on my shoulder. "I'll leave you two alone." He squeezed my shoulder and walked away.

I slowly walked toward my beautiful wife with a hole in my chest. "Baby, I know you must be scared right now, I am too, I'm terrified actually. After everything we have been through I can't believe...." I sighed and reached out to touch her hand. Her skin was ice cold as I trailed my finger along her skin. "I will get you back. I will destroy everything and everyone who tries to stop me. You will be safe again. You will be home again....no matter the cost to me." I leaned over and kissed her hand. "I'm sorry I failed you...."

"Carter old boy." I heard the devil's voice behind me. "Are you ready to get your girl back?"

"I am." I reached over and touched Ebony's face with my hand. "I'm coming for you baby."

"Fantastic." The devil clapped his hands together loudly. "The portal is ready to be opened and..."

"Carter, I must insist that you come with me at once." I turned to see Henry approaching with a look of great concern on his face.

"We are a bit busy here your great whingeness." The devil rolled his eyes at Henry and grinned. "We are about to get Romeos girl back and then we can all live happily ever after. So piss off."

"Carter, I have something extremely important to show you. Please, can I just have a moment....."

"It's now or never twilight. Once the portal is closed I can't open it again." The devil snapped his fingers and suddenly a black hole appeared in front of him. I could feel the portal trying to pull me towards it...calling for me. I could feel Ebony's sadness and her desperation to escape. "Let's go vampire. She won't last much longer in there..."

"Carter, I really must insist..."

"Henry, I'm sorry but I don't have time. I need to get Ebony back or I will lose her forever. Whatever it is can wait." I yelled at him as I felt Ebony call for me again. "She needs me."

"I agree she does but...."

"Enough. I'm not discussing this any longer." I felt Ebony's fear rush through me and I suddenly couldn't fight it any longer. I took a step towards the portal. "I'm coming baby, just hold on a little longer." I reached out and touched the portal with my fingertips.

"CARTER!" I heard Leon bellow from behind me. "STOP!"

"No. I need to save her. I need to try everything in my power to save her." I turned to look at him. "This is the only way..." I felt the portal grab onto my hand and pull me towards it with great strength. "Wait, what is happening? Let me go." I grabbed onto the Devil with my free hand and tried to pull myself backwards. "What did you do you do?" I snarled at the devil as he laughed hysterically.

"Adiós" The devil saluted and easily pulled my hand off his. "See you in hell soon buddy boy." He pushed me towards the portal and disappeared as he laughed louder. The portal grabbed onto my arm like a sticky thick goo substance and pulled at me so hard I thought my arm might rip off. "No," I yelled trying to pull myself away but the portal was too strong and I felt my body being consumed by the darkness. It flowed through my body like lava and I screamed out in pain as it felt like I was being ripped in half.

"Let him go." I heard her voice say calmly. "You can not have him. We forbid you to harm him." I heard her voice once again. "LET HIM GO!" I heard the voice command loudly as my body dropped onto a hard surface beneath me. I tried to move my body but I couldn't. I tried to open my eyes but I couldn't. It felt like there was nothing left of me but darkness.

"Carter..." I heard her voice in my ear once again. It was like she was right there with me. "Carter, can you hear me? Please.." I could hear the concern in her voice but I couldn't move. I couldn't answer her no matter how hard I tried. Something was blocking me from me.

"Please, come back to me. Carter." I felt a warm hand touch my cheek. "I knew you would come for me. I knew you would. We have been waiting for so long to finally meet you. You found us in the darkness. We heard you."

I heard a strange sound next to me. What is that? Is someone crying? It sounds like a child.

"Vampire Carter, please wake up. Everything will be ok now. We are here. He wants you to wake up now. Everything is ok." I felt the warm touch of a hand on my face once again. "Open your eyes."

I sprung open my eyes and I saw a blurry figure standing over me. Her beautiful long hair fell around her gorgeous face and her big eyes twinkled at me like they always did. I recognised her instantly.

"Ebony?" I whispered.

"Yes, I'm here." She touched my face with her hand and leaned down to kiss my cheek softly. "We are here." She said in my ear. "You saved us."

"I did?" I rubbed my head as it began to throb. "I saved you?"

"Yes." She pushed my hair off my face gently. "You look just like him." She smiled with absolute joy.

"What? Like who?" I sat up and felt my head throb again. "Ebony, what are you talking about? I look like who?" I looked up at her beautiful face and blinked my eyes a few times as they were having trouble focusing. "I'm confused. Who do I like?"

She smiled at me sweetly. "Our baby."

"Our what now?" I sat up and tried to clear my head. "Baby? Who's baby sweetheart."

"Our baby, silly." I looked down in her arms and saw a baby with thick jet black hair and aqua eyes just like mine. He looked just like me. "Say hi to your daddy little one." She whispered to a gurgling healthy baby wrapped in a blue cloth.

"The fuck?" I gasped loudly.
