"Talk," I said impatiently as I raised my eyebrow at Penelope.

"That's no way to speak to a lady." Penelope snapped at me and pouted.

"Then show us a lady," Callan mumbled under his breath. I tried hard to show no amusement but I failed. Penelope scowled at me and crossed her arms over her ample chest.

"I apologise, P." I smiled at her. "Please, continue without further interruption."

She glared at Callan before continuing. "As I was going to say." She rolled her purple eyes. "I may have heard a thing or two about the darkness and this Ebony but they are just stories, daddy. They couldn't be true." She touched her red lips with her fingertips gently as her eyes trailed over my body.

"Penelope, please. I just need to hear what you have heard." I was becoming impatient with her flirting.

"You remember that time in Mexico, you animal?" She giggled and reached her finger out to me slowly. "I almost got a concussion from that bed..."

"Stop," Callan begged from behind me. "Am I the only Morgan in this family that doesn't overshare about my sex life?"

"What sex life?" Jacob scoffed. "My right-hand gets more action than you."

"Nothing gets more action than your right hand." Callan snapped back at him.

"Exactly." Jacob smiled proudly and winked at Henry knowing that it was making him uncomfortable.

"I...I don't know what you are referring to." Henry stuttered blushing slightly at Jacob.

"Yes, you do." Jacob smiled.

"Knock it off Jacob," I growled. "Penny, I apologise for their behaviour."

"It's ok. I don't mind talking about pleasure with these handsome vampires." She purred at Jacob.

"You could be my right hand," Jacob responded taking her hand in his. "I wouldn't mind sharing.."

"ENOUGH!" I bellowed so loudly Jacob almost fell back onto the floor. "Tell me about the stories."

Penelope rolled his eyes and sighed. "Fine. You don't need to be so grumpy, big man. I'll tell you everything I know about the darkness and what did you call it again?" She smiled at me innocently.

"It?" I snarled at her. "My wife's name is Ebony."

"Ebony. Mmmm, that's right. The very colour of the darkness itself. Ironic really." She laughed wickedly. "So, I heard a while back that there was a creature called the darkness that was summoned by a witch who was rejected by your ancestor. I hear he was unbelievable hot.." She licked her lips. "Big, broody vampire with massive.."

"Penny, please," I begged her. "Stay on topic."

"Sorry, your bloodline just gets me going." She pressed her lips together. "Ok, this creature was so powerful and some say unstoppable. It killed without any sign of remorse and collapsed worlds that stood in its path. It was feared by every creature in every realm and it became stronger with every single kill it made. It was summoned to kill your ancestor but it didn't, it couldn't." She brought Leon's hand up to her lips and kissed it softly. "For some reason, your kin could not be killed. Your ancestors fought it and almost won but that was your first mistake because that just pissed the darkness off. It became obsessed with killing your bloodline but it was too weak to defeat you now. It was one with your blood and if it fought your ancestors again, it would lose and surely die. So it had to come up with another plan of attack and boy was it a good one." She clapped her hands together and jumped up and down excitedly.

"I don't like where this is going," Leon said looking worried.

"The darkness, as we all now know used your bodies to protect itself and heal. No one knows exactly how it did but it managed to become in control of the Morgan blood and kill everyone and everything who got in its way. When one Morgan died it would hunt the next in line and so on and so forth until it no longer needed the protection of your blood."

"What does this have to do with my wife damn it," I yelled abruptly at her.

"I'm getting to it. Calm down my darling," She shook her head at me. "Now this bit is something I have only recently heard. It's all the goss down in Hell let me tell you. So, apparently, before the darkness disappeared into your ancestors, it created a creature from itself. A separate being if you like. This creature was to be a safety net in case everything went wrong. This creature was made out of pure evil and darkness and had no will of its own. It just waited patiently for its orders and hid away where no one could ever find it. It just obeyed the darkness like a pet and when it was called upon, it killed whatever it was told to. No questions asked. Now, this was going along great until the darkness meet your father. Your father fought the darkness and some say he even found a way to defeat it. The darkness knew it had met its match and left his body only to enter the next...."

"Me." I closed my eyes.

"Yes, you, my magnificent beast." Her eyes trailed over my body slowly. "You were the strongest of the bloodline and it knew if it wanted power then you were the perfect vampire and nothing could stop it."

"But I wasn't that strong. I was weak." I sighed.

"You are wrong about that." Penelope smiled. "You were by far the strongest of your bloodline, gorgeous. You were its greatest vessel but you like your father fought it and it would surely lose the fight against your strength for sure. The darkness couldn't have that, not when it was so close to achieving ultimate power. It knew it had to leave you and find another.." She turned to look at Leon. "That's where it found its true power. Inside this perfect specimen right here. It became stronger than it ever imagined but it still needed to kill you." She pointed back at me. "No matter how hard it tried it could never kill you. So, it needed another way.."

"Ebony," I whispered.

"You get it now. The darkness created her and placed her in a human some say wolf body. It was a risky move as humans are terribly stupid creatures but the darkness had such power over this creature it truly believed this plan would work. The darkness knew your fascination with the girl and knew this was its only way of getting to you. It knew you better than you knew yourself. You had already fallen for this girl and it knew you would never doubt her."

"When did it happen?"

"That I'm not entirely sure of. Some say when she was a child and some say it was when you fell in love with her." She shrugged. "I honestly thought you were smarter than that and refused to believe the rumours that you had bed this human." She looked away. "But obviously I'm wrong. I can't believe you married it."

"Why not just kill me? It had ample opportunities and yet here I stand." I yelled.

"You don't get it, do you? It wanted more than your death Carter. It wants to break you. It wants you down on your knees begging it. It wants to destroy everything about you. It's not about killing you anymore. It wants you to suffer and it will not stop. This is just the beginning. Don't fool yourself. Do you think the most powerful evil ever created will stop hunting you? Trust me when I say, you are as good as dead. It's just playing with you right now."

"That may be true but it means that Ebony herself is not evil." I protested.

"You don't know that. She could have been born evil." Penelope said. "No one knows the true nature of this creature Carter."

"I do and I know she is not evil," I yelled at her. "She has saved me and my family more than once and I refuse to believe that it was because of the will of the darkness. I know her. I love her and I'm going to find her no matter what." I started to back away. "Thank you for your time. Boys let's get the fuck out of here." I said before turning around and walking away.

"There he is," Jacob clapped slowly at Leon as he finally entered the bar after disappearing for hours with Penelope. "My hero. Tell me everything."

"A gentleman never tells," Leon said smiling ear to ear as he approached us.

"Yeah, but you do," Jacob whined at him. "You always tell me everything. Come on, man. Tell me every little detail." Jacob grinned at him.

"Please don't," Callan said covering his ears. "I can't...not again."

"Don't worry, dear nephew. I'm not going to tell you all about my amazing sex with the beautiful demon."

"Oh thank god." Callan looked relieved at his words.

"Here, I'll just show you. It's on my phone." Leon teased pulling out his phone from his pocket and flipping through his videos as he laughed.

"Fuck this," Callan said storming off towards the bar. "You're sick. You know that."

Leon laughed as he put his phone back in his pocket. "He's too easy."

"Are you okay?" Henry said staring at Leon looking very concerned.

"He's been very worried about you." I smiled at Leon.

"Yes, your highness. Thank you for your concern." Leon bowed his head. "I'm fine. A little sore in places but fine."

"I'm am glad to hear this," Henry said clearing his throat uncomfortably.

"I'm waiting," Jacob said tapping his fingers on the table impatiently.

"There's nothing to tell. We had a great time. Well it was actually more like five times and she's incredible," Leon smiled leaning back in his chair. "She did things to me that made my toes curl. I see why you kept going back to her brother. I've never met a creature so limber and willing."

"You must need some fluids then." Jacob smiled patting Leon on the back. "I'll be right back." Jacob walked over to the bar where Callan was hiding.

"You okay brother?" Leon said touching my shoulder.

"I don't know." I sighed hanging my head. "I just...I just want her back." I hit the table with my fist. "I hate this."

"Yeah, I get it." Leon patted my back. "Penelope did tell me something that might be useful."

"What?" I looked up at him.

"She told me that we have been going about this all wrong. We have been trying to beat this thing with good magic when really we should have been using dark magic."

"The witches tried dark magic. It didn't work."

"They tried grey area magic, not pure dark magic." Leon smiled. "You can't fight darkness with grey."

I raised my eyebrow at him. "You know where we can get some pure dark magic because I don't."

He smiled wickedly. "The darkness may have left me but I still remember some things about being evil." He raised his eyebrows at me. "Certain contacts in the human underworld that don't know I'm not the big bad anymore."

"Fuck." I groaned holding my head in my hands. "This is so risky."

"Yep, this is either going to be really fun and something we laugh about later or the slow and painful walk towards our death." Leon laughed slapping me on the back. "Yep, the Morgan brothers are back in back in town."

I let my head slide between my hands and hit the wooden table hard. "Fuck." I groaned again as Leon laughed louder.
