"You can't avoid the big man forever you know," Jake said yawning and stretching his body with his arms over his head. "I mean if you stay in my room any longer Eb, vampires are going to start talking." Jake got down on the floor and started doing sit-ups really fast.

"I don't care, let them." I sat on his bed and reached my arms over my head to stretch my sore body as well.

"I normally do." He smiled at me. "Are you planning on sleeping here, again?" Jake said bouncing up onto his feet and punching the air with his clenched fists.

"Probably, it's not like Carter is waiting for me," I said pouting my lips.

"Oh, I see how it is!" Jake took off his shirt and threw it on the ground very dramatically. "So that's all I am to you? A side piece." He put his hands on his hips and stood there in just his grey sweats and a smile. "Just a piece of cold meat until big man is ready."

"Stop it." I tried not to laugh. "You know it's not that."

"It could be." He said in a deep voice and flashed a wicked smile that made me swoon a little. He raised an eyebrow slowly as he noticed my reaction to him. "Yeah, that's right. I can do that too." He said proudly. "I see you."

I threw a pillow at him that he caught straight away and threw right back at my face. "You are such an idiot." I laughed as he jumped onto the bed beside me. "Do you think we did the wrong thing bringing them back?" I said sighing loudly.

"No." He said straight away.

"I don't either. I mean if any of us were stuck there he would have done the same. Grumpy bastard. Stubborn idiot."

"Oh, I like this game. My turn I'll call him a...."

"You will call me a what, Jacob?" We both froze at the sound of Carter's voice.

"Oh shit, we have been caught," Jake whispered moving a little further away from me on the bed. "Hey, there best boss man in the entire universe. How's it hanging?" He sat on the end of the bed and crossed his leg's casually as he turned to see Carter standing at the door. "We were just talking about how much we..."

"Fuck off, Jacob," Carter said cutting him off.

"It's my room." Jake protested.

"Jacob, I swear if I have to come over there boy, I will..."

"Ok, I'm going." Jake rolled his eyes and grabbed his pillows off the bed. "I'm taking these. I don't want any of your make-up fluids to touch my pillows." He stood up in a huff and stormed towards the door. "Wait, I'm taking this too." He picked up an old video camera on his nightstand. "You don't need to see what's on here." He said slinking away. "Yo, Henry! I'm bunking with you big boy. You lucky dog." Carter slammed the door closed behind him and rubbed his temples as he sighed loudly.

"He is going to be the death of me," Carter said shaking his head.

I stubbornly crossed my arms over my chest and looked away from him.

"You are still mad I see," Carter said still standing at the door.

I shrugged and turned my body away from him.

"I'm not apologising for what I said, Ebony. It was stupid to risk what you did. You were safe here in this world without the darkness. It had no way of escaping or hurting anyone else." He said quite abruptly. "You and those idiots out there put everyone at risk."

I turned to say something to him but stopped myself and instantly turned back away from him.

"You are acting like a child," Carter said impatiently.

"Then don't treat me like one." I turned back to look at him. "Whether you like it or not Carter, us idiots care about you and we wanted you home. You have been through enough and we just wanted you home." I stood up. "And you know something else? I'm glad we did it. There, I said it. I don't care about the darkness right now because I have you back. I'm just a stupid selfish little girl who can't survive without her big tough vampire boss. That's my screenplay and I ain't changing it!" I slammed my foot on the ground and crossed my arms over my chest. "I don't regret anything."

"You are being ridiculous." He said shaking his head.

"Yeah, I am. I deserve to be ridiculous, Carter. Look at what we have been through! Seriously! I'm tired and I'm sore and damn it, I just wanted you back."

"Ebony, I understand that you have been through a lot. I get it. I also told you at some point you were going to resent being with me...."

"No! We are not playing that game mister! No, not having it." I shook my finger at him. "No resentment and no regrets. There is none of it. I just needed you back."

"Ebony, I can't have you putting others at risk for me."

"Well, I can't have you in another world with that big old darkness thing now can I?" He went to say something but I held up my finger in front of his face and stopped him. "The answer is no. No, I can't allow that to happen. I understand that everything we did not go to plan but that's ok because we are ALL here to fix it." I put on a smile. "That's all I have to say right now." I took a step back from him.

"Can I speak now?" He said slowly not taking his eyes off me.

"If you don't yell at me, yes." I pressed my lips together.

He said nothing and just kept staring at me.

"Oh, it's like that. You know what they say if you can't say anything nice..."

"I'm trying." He said through gritted teeth obviously trying hard not to yell at me. "I'm sorry. I'll start again." He closed his eyes and paused. "I need you to understand that I had accepted my fate as had Leon and we were ok with it because we were able to protect our family. I had given up on the idea that I would ever see you again and that almost broke me."

"Carter, I..."

"Not your turn." He opened his eyes and waved his finger in my face slowly. "My turn, now. When I was in hell I made a vowel to myself that I would protect you no matter what. I watched you die every single day for years and I promised myself that I would do whatever it took to make sure you were safe so that you would never know the feeling of what I felt every second of every day. I can't watch you die again, baby. I can't."

"We are not in hell anymore." I reached out and took his hand in mine. "I'm here with you right now."

Carter squeezed my hand. "I'm tired, baby. I'm tired of almost succeeding and then failing miserably. I just want to eat and fuck like I used to..." he threw his head back and sighed. "Damn it, I just want to give you the fucking world already."

"I don't want the damn world, Carter. Just you." He looked back at me. "I just want you and I don't care how selfish that sounds. I just want you."

He smiled softly at my words. "You realise we may destroy the universe for that to happen." He pulled me in close to him and I wrapped my arms around him. "You have no idea what I would do for you, sunshine." He purred kissing me softly.

"I think I have a pretty good idea."

We heard a loud bang against the door and then muffled talking and a lot of shushing coming from the hallway.

"Shut up, bro!" We heard Jake's voice. "Damn!"

"You shut up," Callan said. "I can't hear them if you keep talking."

"You are way too close to me. Both of you need to..."

Carter opened the door and I laughed as Jake, Callan and Henry all tumbled to the ground on top of each other and groaned loudly.

"What are you doing?" Carter said rolling his eyes at the guys lying on the floor.

"What are we doing here?" Jake said standing up and looking confused. "This isn't the strip club."

"I apologise," Henry said standing up and fixing his clothes. "They peer-pressured me into doing this."

"Oh shut up, your highness. You were the one listening at the door, to begin with." Callan shook his head.

"So, is everything ok?" Jake said looking at me. "No one is going to hurt the ruggedly handsome blonde vampire...again?" He smiled at Carter sweetly. "Team Carter."

"You are such a suck hole." Callan laughed.

"I have to be I don't have Morgan or royal blood and I'm not sleeping with the boss. So, I'm kinda fucked if I don't suck up." Jake said under his breath. "Thanks for bringing it up though, dipshit!"

"Alright! Enough already." Carter yelled shaking his head. "Everything is fine. No one is going to get hurt. Well, not tonight anyway." He looked at Jake.

"The plan worked." Jake looked shocked at the fact no one was going to hurt him.

"Now if you will all excuse me and my girlfriend, we have some things we need to do." Carter glared at the three of them.

"Ummm, in my room?" Jake made a face.

"Oh god no." Carter looked disgusted at the thought of that. "I've seen the tapes."

"Hey!" Jake said looking shocked.

"We've all seen the tapes, you sick bastard." Callan laughed.

"How?" Jake was not impressed.

"You posted most of them online anonymously," Henry said looking disturbed. "Callan showed them the other day and I must say..."

"You liked it." Jake smiled proudly.

"Ebony, we are leaving." Carter took my hand in his and pulled me from the room.

"Please, don't leave me with him," Henry called to me.

"He'll be fine," Jake called laughing hysterically.

"I need you, Ebony Summers," Carter said into my ear as he walked behind me on our way bedroom. "I don't just want you, I need you." He kissed my neck slowly as he pulled my body against his. "You need to be punished, young lady." He purred as he slapped my ass hard making me jump slightly.

"I'm yours." I smiled at him behind me.

"Good girl." He smiled into my skin and dragged his fangs softly against my shoulder. "This is probably going to hurt a little but I think you'll like it." His eyes twinkled silver as he opened the bedroom door. "Get on the bed and brace yourself, sunshine. Daddy's angry and your ass needs to pay."
