I woke up to the sound of waves crashing against the shore. My eyes stung as I opened them, and I had to shield myself from the bright sun above me. I sat up slowly as I looked around my new confusing surroundings. Nothing about this felt right to me at all. I shouldn't be here, and I could feel it in my bones.

"Are you ok?" A quiet, timid voice said behind me suddenly.

I turned to see a young girl with dark hair and green eyes looking at me with complete wonder.

"Oh, hello, you scared me." I put my hand on my chest. "Can you tell me where I am?"

"You don't know where you are? Are you lost?" She took a step closer to me.

"I think I might be," I said, looking around again.

"Where is your mommy?" The young girl asked.

"I think she has gone away, but I need to find my friends. Can you help me? I need to use a phone to call my friends."

"I don't know what that is, but my mommy probably will. She is just over there near that cave. I can get her," she smiled, pointing to a cave in the rocks just over the sand.

"That would be great. Thank you. I just realized I don't know your name yet. My name is Ebony," I held my hand to her as she looked at me, confused.

"Ebony," she repeated, making a face.

"Yes, what is your name?"

"My name is ...." she stopped talking and turned back to the cave. "My mommy is calling me. I have to go," she raced off towards the rocks without another word.

"Wait, I need help. I... Damn it," I looked around, but there was no one anywhere. I could see the sand stretching out for miles as the ocean waves crashed in front of me. Where the hell am I?

"This is bullshit," I yelled out in frustration. "What did they do to me? I have to get out of here." I looked around frantically as my heart raced inside my chest. I realized I had no choice but to go towards those jagged rocks and follow that little girl.

"Damn it. This is exactly how horrible horror movies start or those stupid romance books. Shit." I mumbled as I began my climb of the sandy hillside. How did that little girl get up here so damn quickly? I should be able to scale these hills, no problem. What the hell is wrong with me?

By the time I reached the top of the sand, my whole body was aching. "That was just ridiculous. I must be under some sort of spell. I shouldn't be this tired." I sat on the rock and tried to calm my body. "Wait, what is that smell." A familiar scent filled my nose. "I know that smell, that is fresh jasmine." the scent of jasmine suddenly took over all my senses. I usually hate the smell of jasmine, but this was different. This seemed to calm me and felt oddly familiar. I closed my eyes and let the scent flow through my body like electricity.

"What are you?" I heard a gruff voice say, suddenly ripping me from the trance. I looked around, but I could not see anyone.

"What are you?" The voice boomed across the rocks.

"My name is Ebony, and I'm completely lost. I mean you no harm." I searched the rocks for some kind of life. "Please, I'm looking for.."

"I said, what are you?" The voice yelled again, making my ears hurt.

"Ebony, my name is Ebony." I held up my hands in surrender.

"You are not like us. I can tell. What are you?"

My heart pounded in my chest, and I put my hand over it. "Human, I guess."

"Liar," The voice boomed, and I had to cover my ears. "You dare lie to me, strange creature. You will pay with your life."

"I'm sorry. I guess it's kind of complicated. I was a werewolf and vampire at one stage. I don't even know anymore. I mean, you no harm. I just want to get home." I felt my heart pound inside my chest as I looked around, terrified.

There was silence, and all I could hear was the waves crashing on the sand below me.

"Hello?" I called out quietly. "Please, I just want to get home to my family."

"That will not be happening," The voice boomed behind me, and I felt a hand on my arm. "You are mine, now."

"Wait?" I turned to see what was grabbing my arm, but I pushed down to the ground with one big hand.

"Don't say another word, or I will slit your throat." The voice said in my ear as I lay on the rocks sobbing for help.

"Are you Ok?" I heard a soft voice say in my ear, waking me from sleep. "Hello? Can you hear me?" I felt something poke me in my side, and my eyes sprung open.

"Ouch," I groaned and looked around. Everything was blurry, and my head was pounding. I couldn't move my arms or legs properly as my whole body hurt. I tried to move my head to see who was talking to me.

"Are you dead yet?" The voice said as I felt something poke my chest.

"Oh god, my head hurts," I moaned as I tried to sit up but failed. "Where am I?"

"He will be back soon, so you should probably die now," I tried to focus my eyes on the figure standing in front of me, but I was met with nothing but darkness. "Where are you? Can you help me, please?" I let my eyes adjust to the darkness around me and saw a small figure standing near my feet, watching me, not moving.

"You should die now before he gets back." The small figure moved closer to my face, instantly recognizing her.

"You," I whispered as I saw the same green-eyed little girl from the beach looking at me. "You led me here?"

She nodded, "You should be dead by now. He won't be happy."

"Who won't be happy?"

"I don't know his name," she shrugged. "I call him master. He will be back soon, and you should probably die now, less pain than when he gets here," she smiled sweetly.

"Please, let me get out of here, and I will get help for us. You can come with me." I went to reach out to her but was stopped by the chains holding me down. "Shit, can you get these off me? Please." I pulled on them and realized they were nailed onto the cave wall. "If you help me get out of these chains, we can both get out of here and find some help."

"I don't want to go. My master's is good for me. He will be upset if I leave him," she shook her head.

"Upset? He is holding you, prisoner. We can leave together and find help. We could find your family and.."

"My family is gone; the master is my family now." She said, cutting me off and smiling like a doll.

"No, they are not gone, sweetie. We can find them. They must be looking for you."

"No, they are not," she said abruptly.

"How do you know that?"

She looked down at the cave floor. "I know because dead people don't look for missing little girls. Missing little girls can't go home to the dead."

I closed my eyes and sighed, "How did they die, sweetheart?"

She said nothing and just walked away from me.

"No, please. Please don't leave me here. I'm sorry," I begged her as tears fell down my cheeks. "Please, don't leave me here alone."

"He will be back soon, so you should hurry up and die like the others. Trust me. You will want to be dead by the time he gets back." She froze at the sound of a loud bang from further down the cave. "Oh no, he's here," Her green eyes lit up at the sound of her own words. "My master is here."

"Please, help me before it's too late. I need you to get these chains off me, and we can.."

"EBONY," The gruff voice bellowed from the darkness in front of me.

"How does he know my name?" The little girl just smiled and turned her back on me. My stomach churned as I heard his footsteps get closer. I tried to pull these chains out of the wall, but no matter how hard I tried, they would not budge.

"Please," I cried to the little girl. "I beg you."

She shook her head. "I belong to my master now. I'm sorry, lady. He is here now." She pointed to the footsteps and smiled.

"Who is here? Who are you so afraid of?" I yelled as tears ran down my cheek. "For the love of God, Who is coming?"

The little girl opened her mouth to speak but froze as a hand touched the top of her head and patted her like a dog. She responded to this touch with a warm, comforting smile.

"Good girl," The voice said calmly as she disappeared into the darkness. "That's daddy's girl."

I looked up in fear and saw two yellow eyes suddenly staring at me from the darkness. They were so angry and vengeful as they stared down at me. I couldn't move or talk. I could barely breathe as the eyes glared at me.

"Please," I begged as tears ran down my face. "I just want to go home."

I heard a loud growl like a rabid dog coming from the darkness. It echoed through the cave, making my whole body tremble in fear.

"You will never go home," The voice growled. "NEVER,"

I closed my eyes and sobbed in complete fear as I thought about Carter being so far away. I just want to go home. "Carter, where are you?" I whispered out.

"What did you just say to me?" The voice bellowed.

"Nothing, I said nothing," I cried out, trying to crawl away from the voice on the ground. I felt a strong hand grab my neck and pull me off the ground in one motion. I gasped for air as I tried to move the hand from around my neck. "Please," I coughed, scratching at his hand. "Let me go."

"What did you just call me?" The voice yelled in my ear. I slowly opened my eyes to see the creature that was choking me, and with my last breath, I gasped. "Carter?"
