RIVER

"We couldn't find them. I think they flew outside the country." I said as soon as I entered Demetrio's office.

"They think they can run away from me, but at the end, I will find them." He replied angrily.

"How is Mia?" He asked after a while.

"I haven't talked to her yet. Leila said she's holding up."

"I can't believe she's not talking to me. It has been 2 weeks!" He groaned and sat on the chair.

I know this is hard for him because it is not easy to handle something like this especially when we are talking about his daughter.

But what I know is that he brought this upon himself. If he just trusted his daughter's abilities enough, we wouldn't have been here.

I mean okay, I understand that he wanted to protect her and at the same time lets her live a normal life, but he should have known that in the mafia, there is nothing called a normal life because we are not normal.

"I am sure she'll come around—I will go check up on Lara, do you want anything?" I said.

"No, you can leave." With that, I left his office and made my way to Lara's room.

Knocking, I waited till she opened the door.

"Finally! I haven't seen you in hours, where have you been?" She asked.

"Work." I simply said.

"How are you holding up?"

"I still can't believe that Danny is a traitor—I mean I was like his daughter for god's sake." She huffed.

"How are you holding up?" She asked, averting her attention from the TV to me.

"She's still not talking to me." I sadly replied.

"Then go talk to her, again. Apologize, so anything!"

"It's not that easy because she's right this time! I lied to her for years."

"Well technically only a year." She mumbled.

"Anyways, I am meeting with Cameron—see you later." She said and was about to leave when I stopped her.

"Cameron? Why? What's going on? Is there something going on between you two? May I remind you tha—"

"Calm down!" She cut me off, "—we are just friends, for now." She said the last part, sending me a wink, and quickly walked out of the room.

UGH!

Walking out of the room, I bumped into someone.

"Mia." I breathed hard once I saw who it is.

She didn't say anything and was about to leave when I grabbed her arm and pushed her softly inside Lara's room.

"Stop doing that!" She yelled.

"We need to talk!"

"No, we don't! There is nothing to talk about!" She yelled again.

"Mia please, just listen." I pleaded.

"You have 2 minutes starting now." She crossed her arms waiting for me to start talking.

"Anytime now!"

"Fine! Look, I know I lied to you all this time, but just so you know, whatever we loved together wasn't a lie! I wasn't supposed to even talk to you if it weren't for Mr. Stevenson." I quickly summarized, "—I am sorry."

"30 seconds left." She muttered.

"Stop acting like a child! Come on Mia!" I groaned.

"YOU—have no right to tell me how to act River—y-you literally—oh god." She yelled and gripped her hair really hard.

She was so mad.

I took her by the waist, shocking her, and I patted softly her hair, trying to calm her down.

"Just...let's just stay like this...please just calm down." I softly said.

MIA

Breathing in and out, I tried to listen to him and calm down.

Do you know what the problem is? It's that because of him and my father, I cannot trust them anymore or even anyone.

The past few years had been a lie, do you know how that feels?

Every time my father speaks to me, he was hiding something.

For the first time ever in my whole life, I finally opened my heart to love. Being the strongest mafia leader's daughter is not easy and having trust issues since the day I was born was even harder. Only when I met my friends that I could trust again and MY father knew that!

He knew that.

I started feeling things for River and now what? It was all a lie?

Okay, he said that what we loved wasn't a lie, but how could I trust him? How could I?

"Are you feeling better?" He asked softly.

"Actually no." I mumbled trying to get out of his grasp.

"I gotta go, I have to see Camilla." I said and left, and thank god he didn't stop me this time.

For the past two weeks, Camilla has been crying. Of course, right now she's feeling much better, but she's still not getting used to it.

We are still staying in the warehouse with maximum security just in case. Mt father convinced her and Cameron's parents to stay with us. I don't know how he did it, but they agreed.

"Camilla?" I opened the door checking if she's inside.

"In here." She replied weakly

I walked towards her and sat on the bed beside her. She looks much better.

"You look much better." I smiled sadly.

"David came by earlier..." she said.

"You finally forgave him?" I asked excitedly.

To be honest, I am not even angry with David. I don't know why...I know some of you will say that it's selfish that I shouldn't be angry with River when I am not angry with David since he did the same to Camilla, but it's slightly different.

David wasn't working with Camilla's family. He had his own line of work despite it being a gang. I am not saying that she should forgive him easily, but it has been a while, I think it's time she should.

"Kind of." She smiled shyly.

"Cami, I am sorry."

"For what?"

"For not telling you. You're my best-friend."

"Not gonna say it didn't hurt me, but I understand now M. It's not easy." I smiled at her answer. I am so grateful I have her as a friend.

"Love you Cami." I said and hugged her.

"What about you? Have you forgave him?" She asked hesitantly.

"No—I don't know if I could."

"Mia, River is a good man. I think he likes you...a lot."

I didn't know what to say. Does he really care about me that way? Does he really feels something for me like I do for him?

"I like him too Cami, so much." I shyly replied.

"Then talk with each other." She suggested.

Wow Camilla is handling this better than me, but she's right. The least I could do is talk to him and give him more time to explain to me his point of view.

"I will try." I nodded.

~<~<

"I can't believe you allowed me to train you." Troy grinned as he held me by my waist.

"I can't believe either." I mumbled, rolling my eyes.

"I know I have been a pain in the ass, but really, would you like to grab coffee or lunch sometime?" He hesitantly asked.

Huffing and too tired to yell at him, I stupidly agreed.

"Fine."

"Oh god, really!" He squealed like a girl.

"Don't make me regret this." I warned.

"Never!" He replied happily, making me slightly smile.

As much as he's a pain in the ass, he is one of the funniest people out here. He is a womanizer indeed, an asshole at time, but he has a heart pure of gold.

"I can't believe you forgave me for shooting your leg." I chuckled.

"I was required to forgive you—you're the boss's daughter after all." He grinned making me laugh.

"So tomorrow?" He asked.

"Tomorrow?"

"Lunch." He rolled his eyes.

"Oh—yes, tomorrow." I smiled and left.

On my way inside, I saw River looking my way and let me tell you that he was in rage.
