I hope you like this chapter! <3

Leaving the restaurant and after sending few murderous looks to the waitress who practically eye-raped River, we hopped in the car.

I mean...River didn't seem to mind it, she looking at him I mean. He seemed normal or almost almost amused. I don't like that, he should mind.

The problem is that I cannot make a problem out of it since River and I are nothing. There is literally nothing between us. I don't even know what we are to each other. Our relationship is weird and confusing. One time I kiss him and the other he kisses me, as if getting even.

Looking outside the window at the beautiful trees that passed by, I didn't listen to their conversation. I kept glancing at River from the front mirror and sometimes catching him looking at me. River was driving this time.

I was still mad at that waitress.

Parking the van at David's house, we got out and everyone of us went to their separate way.

River and I walked back to his car and got in. We haven't talked, not a single word. When we arrived, I was about to leave but stopped. I turned to look at him to find him looking at me.

"Are you ignoring me?" I narrowed my eyes.

"No, why would I ignore you?" He scoffed.

"Aren't we going to talk about what happened the other day?" I asked bravely.

"What happened?" He furrowed his eyebrows, obviously acting like he forgot. Does he want me to tell him exactly what happened? Or he knows that I am not going to say, so he pretended not to know because he doesn't want to talk about it?

Overanalyzing? Check.

"Don't play dumb." I said, I was getting angry.

"You mean about the kiss?" He finally said and I nodded.

"There's nothing to talk about Mia. You kissed me once and I returned it. We are even now." He said without emotion.

I am gonna kill him.

"Are you sure?" I asked for the last time.

"Yes, of course I am." He nodded.

Good. Two can play the game River Martin.

"Good." I fake smiled and left.

Opening the door, I was greeted by my father. My angry looking father.

"What happened?" I asked, my heart was beating so fast.

"Our warehouse was attacked in NYC." He quickly said making his way to the basement. I followed him.

"Who attacked?"

"We still don't know, but I have a feeling it's Luciano—he sure is looking for us." He explained.

"Is everyone okay?"

"Danny was shot, but he's fine." He said and I lost my mind.

"Oh god! Is he okay? Dad, you have to bring him here!" I panicked.

"I said he's okay, don't worry." He groaned.

"Anyways, did you speak with that friend of yours—Cameron?" He changed the subject.

"Not yet. I will speak with him tonight." I said and he nodded.

"We might move." He suddenly said.

"What?!"

Move? Oh, no. I will not move and lose my friends! Not again.

"If Luciano found us, we will move."

"Father, we should stop running! Let's fight him, you have always taught me not to run from my problems, why are you?" I yelled.

"This problem is not a normal problem Mia! It's not a relationship problem or this bullshit! It's life or death problem, and I CANNOT lose any of you!" He fired back.

"I will not go anywhere! If you guys want to leave, then leave! I am staying here and I am going to fight, do you understand me!" I yelled louder and left.

I am not a baby anymore, I can fight and take care of myself—they should understand that.

I am tired of moving and hiding and acting like a normal person like everyone else. I am tired of not being myself and hiding everything from my friends. Imagine River, David, and Camilla finding out—they would hate me and leave me. I just thank god that Cameron hasn't, yet.

Not that he has a choice...

I walked to my room and opened my laptop. I needed to talk with Cameron and tell him what my father said.

Opening Skype, I clicked on his name.

After waiting for few seconds, he answered.

"Hey." He starts.

"Hi Cameron, how are you?" I asked knowing that he's not good.

"Not bad." He nodded.

"We need to talk..." I started, "-I've talked with my dad and..." I stopped. I couldn't tell him.

"He wants me to join, doesn't he?" He completed.

"Y-Yes. I swear I tried talking to him, but he didn't agree since this will be your second chance." I said referring to him seeing Mrs. Jones murder.

"I'd figured he'd say that." He sadly replied.

"Look, don't worry, my dad will not give you hard missions that require... you know, but you have to get a tattoo."

"A tattoo? Shit—Mia you know I can't." He whined.

He's afraid of needles, a lot.

"Don't worry, I will be beside you." I said softly, trying to calm him down.

"F-Fine, no problem." He said.

"By the way-" he started again, "-I am curious about how your family...you know became a mafia one."

One thing I love about Cameron is that he is so curious, but right now, I really don't want to talk about our family history, but I have to.

"Well, it's more like heredity. It passes on from one family to the other. The González mafia became the strongest in my grandfather's reign; Lorenzo. At that time Mateo Martinez; who is actually my grandfather from my mother's side, resigned and we became the strongest in Europe. It was before my father became the leader that he had met my mother." I started.

I am really nervous to continue because right now he is going to know that Demetrio is not my biological father.

"Umm—my mother ran away from her husband; Giovanni Russo, and found refuge at the González's house. At that time, my mother was pregnant with me, but she didn't know at first."

"So, that means..." he said and I quickly nodded.

"Demetrio is not my biological father, he's better than him." I smiled.

"Then where's your real father?" He hesitantly asked.

"Dead, my mother killed him." I casually said earning a gasp.

"He was a bad man." I tried to explain earning an understanding nod.

"So, when Demetrio married my mother, he became the leader." I concluded.

"Wow, it's interesting. I wish my family and I have adventures like these."

"Oh trust me, you don't want to be in my place—imagine that your biological father wanted to kill you." I chuckled bitterly.

Yes, Giovanni was threatening my mother to kill me when I was still inside her.

"I am sorry..." he said in pity.

"Don't pity me, I am glad he's not my father." I smiled, proud that Demetrio is.

"I an glad too." He replied, "-oh and Mia, I know you didn't tell us because you were afraid of us leaving you, but I just want you to know that even if your dad didn't force me to join, I wasn't going to hate or leave you."

"Thank you Cam—" I softly said, "-but how did you know that I have been thinking about that?" I asked curiously.

"You're my best-friend dude, of course I'll know." He said making me giggle at the dude word.

"Good night, Cameron."

"Good night, M."
