Something only Merlin knew about the Prince was that he slept with his teddy bear.

Arthur would never in a million years admit it to anyone that didn't have to know. When Merlin found out, Arthur swore him to secrecy.

Some strange reason Arthur was embarrassed by that fact. so on hunting trips he never brought sir teddy.

Without sir teddy, Arthur would get horrid nightmares that he would awake from screaming. All the fighting really caught up to Arthur in his sleep.

The only way to stop Arthur's nightmares, was for him to hug something. Blankets didn't seem to work, but teddys and Merlin did.

See on the hunting trips, Merlin would often set up his bed roll right beside the Prince's. When sleeping Arthur would always move closer to Merlin's warmth, and hug his manservant. Arthur allowed Merlin to sleep next to him, because he knew what would happen without Merlin there: he'd awaken all the knights, and he'd end up crying for half an hour.

The old knights knew of Arthur's nightmares due to past trips with him. So they understood why Arthur was clinging to Merlin and immobilizing his friend.

Unfortunatly when it was the younger knights turn to be lookout, they would snicker, then wonder if they were a couple, or if they did more in the castle.

Sometimes, Merlin would wake up when a knight was about to take over guard duty. Merlin would always tell the knight, "it's not what it looks like." Usually the knight would snort and move on.

What only Merlin, Gaius and Arthur knew, was that Merlin also slept with a teddy bear. He also refused to bring it on hunting trips. Without someone holding onto him, or something other then a blanket to hold onto, Merlin would dream of all the people he lost. He would dream of them all telling him it was his fault.

If asked, Merlin and Arthur would each deny that they slept together.

Apparently that was less embarrassing then sleeping with teddy bears, so they kept doing it.

There was one thing that Merlin and Arthur would never admit. Not even to the other. They slept better together. That was when their nightmares fully went away. The teddies couldn't keep the nightmares at bay as well.

Sometimes, Merlin and Arthur each thought about going to the others room, late at night when they'd had a nightmare. Usually they didn't. Although if it got really bad, they would. This had only happened after they lost people, or went through a traumatic experience. Like when their fathers died. Those days, they were kinder to each other.

I accidentally woke up early on vacation, so here y'all go. Not the best chapter, but still cute.
