Weird Idea I had.

Arthur woke up to a wizard chanting a strange language in front of him. By the time he'd overcome his shock, it was too late. The wizard had finished and Arthur felt his world spinning. Suddenly a large pain filled his body, before he felt himself being ripped out. He felt whatever spell was used on him dragging him somewhere, then he lost consciousness.

.........

When Arthur woke, his body felt different. There were subtle differences. Like his lack of muscle compared to his normal self, or his slightly shorter frame. He also had a raging hangover.

The harsh mattress was no where near as comfy as his own. Noisily his mattress creaked with each movement he made. There was a rather musty smell filling the air. It was as if the room hadn't been cleaned in months. When Arthur finally opened his eyes, he was met with the familiar sight of one of Camelot's knight bedrooms.

Next to him sat an apple, and a few bottles of ale. Which knight did he know that liked apples, and drunk a lot?

Wait, how did Arthur get here? Right, there was a wizard who spoke a bit, and now he was here. Finding some clothing, he got ready, and assumed that meant he was most likely in a knights body. That meant that there was training. For once Arthur was late. Where was Merlin when... oh. If he wasn't in his own body, then Merlin wouldn't come to wake him.

Racing out, he went straight to the armoury, and attempted to put the armour on himself. Luckily Merlin was passing.

"Let me help you with that."

Merlin was looking at him weirdly as he helped 'Gwaine' into his armour. First Arthur had gotten on his armour on his own (he was really fast as if he'd been doing it for years too), and next he'd witnessed Gwaine struggle to get on the armour he could usually throw on in minutes.

The next strange thing was when Arthur hadn't struggled when Merlin woke him. He'd seen the food and jumped out with excitement. Actually, Arthur seemed to be fighting a smile all morning, and his insults didn't hold the same tone or content.

Then there was Gwaine. He looked more serious than he'd ever looked in the entire time Merlin had known him.

"What did you do last night Gwaine?" Merlin asked innocently.

Arthur had no idea, so he assumed what he always did. "I was at the bar drinking last night."

"Wrong." Looking him in the eye, Merlin continued, " Gwaine was helping me fight an assasin. Who are you? What have you done with Arthur and Gwaine?"

A short dagger was being held in front of his neck by an obviously angered Merlin.

When he looked into Merlin's eyes, he no longer saw the innocent boy he usually saw. This time his eyes held a steely gaze that screamed murder. If He made one wrong move, Merlin would not hesitate to slit his throat.

"I'm Arthur. A wizard came into my bedroom last night, and I woke up in Gwaine's room. Merlin, put down the dagger before you hurt yourself."

Not budging, the raven haired boy asked, "how do I know you're Arthur?"

"You hate hunting trips, you came to Camelot a few years ago, and insulted me the first time you met me."

Merlin raised his eyebrow. "Those are things most people know about me. Hmmmm. What's something only Arthur would know?" They stood there staring at each other for a moment. "I got it. What did Morgause show you after she tested you?"

"She made a hallucination of my mother that spoke to me."

The dagger was lowered. "I'm watching you. If it turn out you're not Arthur, I will not hesitate." This was the most serious Arthur had ever seen Merlin.

"I get it." Then as a second thought Arthur quietly muttered "buffoon."

Mere seconds after that came out of his mouth, he was engulfed in a hug. "It is you."

Pushing Merlin off, he insulted, "Merlin, don't be such a girl's petticoat. I thought you didn't believe me?"

"But then you insulted me."

Arthur snorted. Idiot.

........

"Arthur, could me and Gwaine speak to you for a moment." Arthur's body nodded. "In private," Merlin's voice rose to show the importance.

"Alright. Come this way." 'Arthur' told them. He led them to Arthur's room.

When they were in, they closed the doors and turned to each other.

The real Arthur spoke first, "and who are you?"

"I'm Gwaine and you?" He held out Arthur's hand for Arthur in Gwaine's body to shake.

Arthur just glared at the man currently occupying his body.

Turning to Merlin, Gwaine asked, "Is that what I look like?" Arthur was shocked that he would ask a question like that in such a serious situation.

"No. Your usually smiling, and right now you... Well Arthur could pass as a different person completely. Same goes for Arthur."

"Merlin!"

"What he asked!"

They went on like that for a little bit. Merlin knew the spell used already. He'd actually read about it just the other night. There was no real way to reverse it, and it wasn't even permanent. The longest it had ever been used on someone was a week. So there wasn't much to worry about.

"Youd make a great Arthur Gwaine. Your nice, funny, and would be less harsh on the people working for you. Unlike Arthur Arthur." Merlin looked at 'Gwaine' when he spoke the last sentence.

'Gwaine's' jaw dropped. "I am nice and funny!"

'Arthur' and Merlin both stopped talking, and stared at 'Gwaine'. They did this until he became uncomfortable and looked away.

"Has he made one joke about this whole situation?" 'Arthur asked with a teasing tone.

"Nope. He has not."

"Has he given a compliment in the past month?"

"I don't believe so. Since I'm around him all the time, I would've noticed." Merlin was enjoying being a sassy brat.

"Enough. Both of you!" 'Gwaine' roared. "I could have you both in the stocks for a month!"

'Arthur' stepped forward with a death glare. He came closer until he was right I front of 'Gwaine'. "Who's the Prince here?" Gwaine asked from Arthur's body.

"Me, I am-"

"Not in that body your not."

Knowing he'd get a large punishment for his soon to be actions, Gwaine didn't care. The real Gwaine sentenced his body to the stocks. That was the first time Arthur had ever been in them, but he wasn't truly in them either. It wasn't his body that got covered in rotten tomatoes. Somehow, it still hurt his ego though.

.......

W

hen they finally let Arthur out of the stocks, he immediatly sought out Gwaine. The imbecile dared put him in the stocks?

Storming into his room, he found 'Arthur' laughing with Merlin. For a moment, he got really jealous and wished he was in his own body. Then he remembered why there was gross slime in his hair.

"Gwaine." Arthur took a step forward. "I." Another step. "Am." He was getting really close now. "Going to." They were face to face. "Kill you."

Before Arthur got a chance to punch Gwaine (himself), Merlin stepped in front of his 'Arthur. Merlin was nearly punched, but Arthur managed to stop his fist. He may want to punch Gwaine, but his servant was off limits.

Merlin stood there a moment with his eyes closed, before he realized he hadn't been hit, and he tentatively opened his eyes. There stood Gwaine with his jaw dropped, and a betrayed look hung on his face.

"You protect him over me?"

Merlin sighed knowing the many ways this could go. "He's in your body Arthur. If you punched him, you would give yourself a nasty bruise, and Gwaine would most likely be sentenced to death. I've lost too many friends Arthur. Please don't."

The pleading in Merlin's voice shocked him.

"You'll only be in his body for about a day or two, then you'll be back to normal. Just stick it out."

Merlin was right. That night he went to bed in Gwaine's bed. Arthur awoke in his own. As he'd expected, Gwaine had done some damage. There wasn't very much though.

The three continued on as if nothing had happened, but Arthur and Gwaine had become wary of each other. Arthur had also realized how well Merlin knew him to be able to recognize he was a different person immediately. With this strange experience Arthur's appreciation grew. The sneaky wizard had never been found because they were to busy with their own drama.
