Horse riding to their destination always made Merlin Moody. Doing it multiple days in a row made him seem like a teenage girl, easily irritated, sassy, and rude.

"Maybe I just don't think you're funny," Arthur jokingly told Merlin.

Gasp, "well at least I'm not a prat!"

"At least I'm not an idiot!" Was Arthur's rude reply.

"Simpleton, rude, arrogant, block headed, arse-" Merlin was then interrupted by Arthur.

"Incompetent, annoying, tavern dwelling-"

"I do not go to the tavern! Even ask Gwaine. He'll know. Remember that one time we went to the tavern as equals? The lady complimented me on my looks. So at least we both know I'm more handsome."

Arthur noted to ask Gwaine later about how often Merlin goes to the tavern. "Beauty gets you no where when you don't use your brain."

"At least I have a brain." Muttered Merlin quietly. Arthur heard anyway.

"You, really? I never knew that! When'd you get it?"

"When I wasn't around you!"  Shrieked Merlin.

"Well, at least I don't fight like a girl."

"You haven't seen my weapon of choice yet. You most likely never will because your to much of a pompous nitwit who is to stubborn and oblivious to see the things in front of his face."

"What do you notice that I don't then Merlin?" Asked Arthur skepticaly.

Merlin snorted. "The fact that you almost died seven times this week, and you only noticed two."

"Wait what? What happened?"

"Nothing that you would notice apparently." Merlin muttered again.

"Merlin what happened?"

"Oh just two assassins, a traitor in your midst, two of morgana's plans, and you only noticed the bandits. And you call me an idiot you numb skull!"

Arthur was quiet for a while. "Suprised are you? That type of thing happens on a weekly basis"

"Is that why you always act weird?" Quietly Arthur asked.

"Now you're catching on!" Merlin exclaimed.

"Who... Who's the traitor." Arthur was afraid to ask.

"You wouldn't believe me if I told you." Merlin replied.

"What makes you think that? Why wouldn't I believe you?"

"Oh I don't know, maybe the many times you didn't believe me because it sounded too unreasonable." Merlin remembered all the times, and decided he would tell of his favorite if Arthur asked. Which he did.

"Give me one example I didn't believe you."

Snorting, Merlin started. "Remember your father's bethrothel to a troll? Remember how i warned you? I've done that many times, and each time their was either no evidence, no witnesses, not the right status of witnesses, and so many more."

This made Arthur go silent again. How many times had Merlin warned him of these things? Slowly he started remembering a couple, soon that couple turned into many.

"I'll try to listen more Merlin, as long as you realize I can't do unreasonable things. I'd be ridiculed, and my people wouldn't trust me."

"Thank you." Merlin replied happier then he'd been for the whole ride. "If I told you that he was in your court though, what would you say?"

Arthur didn't even hesitate to answer. "Thats not possible Merlin, stop being an idiot," and with Arthur's words, Merlin's good mood vanished.
