(A/n) Yes I'm still alive. Pardon the delay. Summer. That's my excuse and I'm sticking with it.

In this chapter you'll meet Dr. Schmidt. Although there may be several references to the TF2 Medic, Dr. Schmidt is not him. Just wanted to make that clear and not have anyone go "oh Llama's just ripping off the medic. What a cheese puff." He will probably not appear later in the story anyway, but I just felt like I needed to make this clear. With that said, enjoy.

Angela POV
I was on a plane flying to Berlin, Germany to see my colleague who could be of some assistance to our project. I was only by myself this time because my colleague can be kind of... peculiar. Some of his work isn't exactly legal to say, but I have no choice. I need his help for this project or we'll never get it done.

After sleeping on the plane for a couple of hours, I start to land in Deutschland. Once I'm off the plane and in the airport, I text (y/n) to tell him that the flight was fine and I'm safe and sound. He texts back a happy face and says I love you. I grab my luggage and get a cab to bring me to the hotel I'm staying at. While I'm riding in the cab, I'm looking at some of my surroundings. Berlin was one of the cities that was affected by the omnic crisis a lot. I remember some of the stories Reinhardt told me about defending Berlin, like when one of the leaders was drunk on the battlefield, but ended up taking out several bastion units and eventually winning the battle. He's still alive to this day.

I'm so deep in thought that by the time I stop zoning out, I'm at the hotel. I use my thumbprint to pay the automated cab and grab my bags from the trunk. I didn't know how long I was going to stay at the hotel, so I booked it for 4 nights. Hopefully I didn't need to stay here the entire time and my colleague and I could finish the project soon. I enter the hotel and go to the check in desk where there's an omnic working on the computer.

"Guten tag." The omnic says.

"Hallo." I say as I walk up to the desk.

(I'm too lazy to write in German, so pretend they're speaking it)

"I assume you've made a reservation."

"Yes. It should be under Dr. Angela Ziegler."

"Ziegler..." The omnic types something into her computer and looks for my name. "Ah. Here you are. Room for one on a king sized bed. Fast wi-fi and a mini fridge."

"Yes."

"Alright. Give me a moment to get everything set up..... Your accent...are you from Switzerland? Sorry about my asking. I'm just curious."

"Haha. No need to be sorry. Yes I am Swiss."

"I thought so. It's a nice accent."

"Thank you."

"Just a second...... You'll be in room 443. It has actually just finished cleaning, so you can head there whenever you're ready. Here's your two room keys."

"Thank you."

"Enjoy your stay."

I grab my bags and make my way to the elevator. I enter my hotel room once I get there and take a look around. It's pretty much just a standard hotel room. One bed with a television in front of it, a desk, bathroom with a bathtub and shower. Your average hotel room.

After I unpack a few things, I set up my laptop and log onto the wifi. I then open up the video chat and call (y/n). It takes a few seconds, but he answers and I see his face pop up on the screen.

"Hey Angela." He says.

"Hello (y/n)." I say and wave. "How's house sitting going?"

"Fine. It helps that it's the house I grew up in. That's for sure. I'll tell you more later. How was the flight?"

"It was fine. I mainly slept on the plane ride, but I also watched Wonder Woman again."

"Nice." I then hear some dog barking in the background. "Dread! Quiet!" I laugh a bit. "Sorry. Another dog probably walked by."

"It's okay. I'll see Dr. Schmidt tomorrow and then we'll find out if our project can be finished or not. I'll be working with him on it, so hopefully it doesn't get too crazy."

"We can hope. How crazy is he? I know he's okay with you, but still, what are we dealing with?"

"He's super smart and inventive. However, sometimes his methods and morals aren't what we believe are the best. Because of that, he's wanted by several people and has to live in hiding. Only people he trusts know where he is."

"I guess he trusts you."

"Yes he does, and that's a good thing for us."

"I miss you already."

"I miss you too. It'll be different sleeping alone in a bed by myself again."

"Yeah. I don't think a cat is a good substitute for you."

I laugh. "Yeah. It's not as good of a pussy."

"Angela with the double meaning sex jokes!" (Y/n) says as we both laugh. We talk a bit more until I say I should get some dinner.

"Alright. Be sure to call me every day with updates and whatnot." (Y/n) says.

"I will. Ich liebe dich." I say.

"I love you too."

We kiss our hands and place them on the screen as we end the call. I then grab some dinner and go to sleep fairly quickly. The next morning I get up early and take a cab to the relative area where Dr. Schmidt was. I get out about two blocks away and start to walk to his facility. The area I'm in is kinda run down, but nobody is around. Not really anything living is, except for some rats. Then I see a big brown building with some lightning rods and Tesla coils on top, and I know it's Dr. Schmidt's place.

I approach the brown door and take a deep breath. I knock on the door and wait for it to open.

(Here's another instance where the characters are speaking German, but I'm writing in English.)

"If you're here about the wandering torso, I have no idea where it is. Good day to you!" I hear coming from the inside.

"Dr. Frederick Schmidt, it's me. Dr. Angela Ziegler."

"Angela?" The eyehole slides open and I see Dr. Schmidt's brown eyes and some of his dirty blonde hair. "You could be someone in disguise. Answer me this. What is the air-speed velocity of an unladen swallow?"

"What do you mean? An African or European swallow?"

The door opens and Dr. Schmidt hugs me. I return the hug and he welcomes me into the lab. I see several inventions surrounding the room. Some on the walls hung up to see, others scattered along the floor. I make my way to the coffee table and sit down on one of the couches.

"It's so nice to see you again, Angela. Sorry about the whole entrance thing. You don't know what it's like to have several organizations want you dead, especially if one of those organizations is the government of your own country." He says.

"It's alright. It's nice to see you again as well. I see you've kept yourself quite busy." I say, looking at several of his inventions.

"I have had a lot of time on my hands, which has allowed me to invent a lot. I have to confess I stole several parts to make some of them, but they work. You must be thirsty. I'll get us some beer."

"Don't worry. I'm fine."

"Come on, Angela. This is Germany. You've got to have at least one. I'll be right back."

He walks to the fridge and grabs two bottles of beer. I could've sworn I heard a voice from the fridge say "For the love of God, please kill me!" and Dr. Schmidt say "I will later. Shut up!" I could've just been imagining things though. Jet lag is the worst.

"Where was I? Oh right." He says and walks back to where I am and hands me a beer. We clink our bottles together and take a swig.

"Just because I'm curious, what do you do if someone you don't trust finds this place?" I ask

"Well, I need the test subjects." He says, nonchalantly.

"Frederick!"

"What? I'm just messing with you." He drinks some beer and mutters. "Mostly joking."

"What?"

"Nothing. So what do you need, Angela?"

"Can't someone just want to see her crazy German friend?"

"Oh please. You flatter me. However, I know you, Angela. You must need something desperately if you want my help."

I take a swig of beer. "You're right. I need something that requires your help. You see, my boyfriend and I are working on this device that'll-"

"Wait, you said boyfriend, right? Who's the lucky guy?"

"Dr. (F/n) (l/n). We were partners when we worked at Overwatch. Anyway, the device is going to bring back things from the dead."

"Oh. Well, you've come to see the right crazy doctor/scientist. Let's see what you have so far. I may be able to see where you've gone wrong."

I insert the flash drive into his computer and he looks at what we have. He's reading it and muttering things to himself.

"So you're taking a different approach than what I would have done." Frederick says.

"What would you have done?" I ask.

"Oh your way is fine and more practical given you have that staff of yours. I would've stuck some electronic thing in every person."

I laugh. "Of course you would."

"Well, they don't call me mad for nothing. Let's see what else you have here.....well here's an error."

"What is it?"

"You forgot to carry a 7 here, which was resulting in several failures."

I smack my head for my stupidity and cause a chuckle to come from Dr. Schmidt. "Why didn't I see that?"

"I have no clue. Anyway, I think I see some of the problems."

"Can you fix them?"

"Of course I can. I'm too smart even for my own good."

Just then we hear a noise. Frederick tells me to hide and he grabs some weapon that looks like a ray gun. I peer one eye from where I'm hiding and see him standing behind something, waiting to see what made the noise. After a few seconds, we hear the noise again and Frederick is about to shoot, but stops and laughs.

"I almost shot you, Porsche." He says and picks up an animal.

"Porsche?" I say, moving from my hiding spot.

"Yeah. My cat Porsche." He says, showing me a gray tabby cat with a device on its head. "Say hi, Porsche."

"Hello." Porsche says.

"Holy crap he can talk." I say.

"Yes he can, through this device here. It allows him to speak through several vocabulary and speech patterns I put in." Dr. Schmidt says.

"You can pet me. I like to be petted." Porsche says. I start to pet Porsche and he then he starts to purr.

"You'll have to get me one of these if you can." I say.

"I would, but this is the only one I've made, and probably the only one I will make. Anyway, let's get to work, shall we?" He says.

We work for several hours, with me only leaving to get some sleep and call (y/n) at night. I actually predicted the amount of nights I needed correctly and I leave today.

We had worked on this for a couple of days, and now it was time for testing. Initially we were going to use Porsche for testing, but he refused, so I went to catch a dove.

"Thanks for catching the dove. Now if it doesn't work, Porsche will have a snack." Frederick says.

"I am hungry." Porsche says.

"Well, hopefully it isn't this dove. Alright Dr. Schmidt. You may fire when ready." I say.

"You sure you don't want to wait and see if we can get a human test subject? We could get some vital information" He says.

"Frederick!"

"Okay okay. Point made."

He shoots the dove with his ray gun and we count to three. Even though it's only three seconds, it feels like three hours. When we say three in unison, I start to resurrect the dove.

"Helden Sterben Nicht!" I say.

The dove begins to glow that familiar yellow, and Dr. Schmidt and I wait in anticipation. Porsche is just licking his paws. The dove stops glowing and looks okay, but we wait for it to move.

"Come on. Move." I say.

Soon the dove starts to make noise again and is flying to Frederick's outstretched arm. He lets the bird fly off and smiles at me.

"We did it!" I say and hug him. "Thank you so much for your help!"

"It was nothing. I'm glad I could be of assistance. It was nice to have company again." He says.

"I'm sure we can find a way for your name to be cleared."

"Don't bother. I like the way life is. It allows me to invent without any limitations. But do me a favor and tell Dr. Javeed to visit me. I haven't seen him in a long time, and I'd like to catch up."

"Of course. Anything. You don't know how many lives you helped me save. Thank you."

"You're welcome. Now I suppose I should clean this place up."

"Let me help you Frederick."

"No thanks. You gotta catch your flight."

I look at my watch and realize that I better get moving. I grab my bags (I checked out of the hotel already) and packed my staff. "You're right. Thanks so much."

"No problem. Have a good day, Angela."

"You too, Frederick. Bye Porsche."

"Goodbye, human." Porsche says.

I'm fast walking with my bags and get a cab when I reach the Main Street. I get to the airport with minutes to spare and tell (y/n) the news.

"Are you serious?!?" He says.

"Yeah. Yeah I am." I say.

I hear him cheering on the other end. "Oh my God. I'm so happy. Congratulations Angela."

"You helped with this too. This was our project."

"I know, but this was mainly yours. Alright, I don't want to hold you any longer. I'll meet you when you get back."

"Okay. I love you."

"Love you too."

I get on the airplane and take my seat as I fly home to see my love. I can't go to sleep because I'm so happy that this has worked, so I just decide to watch some movies.

Your POV
Angela was finally coming back. You were super happy. Now you could house sit with some company besides Dread and Woodstock. You sit on the couch, reflecting on what this project has done. However your thoughts are interrupted by a knock on the door (causing Dread to bark.) You look out the window and see someone on the doorstep (but they can't see you). They don't look like they're selling anything.

They must be one of mom and dad's friends. I'll tell them they won't be home until next week. You think to yourself.

You open the door and see that the figure is wearing a mask. Not like a ski mask, but they're face was covered. Your parents had some weird friends.

"Uhh. (Mother name) and (father name) won't be home until next week. You might want to come back then." You say.

The person laughs, but it's a good laugh. "Actually, I'm here to see you, (y/n)."

"Uhhhh. I don't know you. How do you know my name? Wait, were my parents talking about me again?"

Another laugh. "Well, I should know your name. You and your girlfriend have helped me in the past."

Okay now this was creepy. However, you were going to see if they'd reveal any information.

"Uhhh...right. Well, can I ask who you are exactly?" You say.

"Oh right. I'm still wearing the mask. One second."

The person takes off their mask and you gasp. You put your hands over your face as you look at the person. Were you seeing a ghost? Or what was this...sorcery?

"No way." You say in a whisper. "A-Ana?"

(A/n) Sorry for the delay. I was lazy and summer happened. It's still happening actually. I'm in a hotel room as I'm writing this. So anyway. Angela finished the project! Yay! And why would Ana suddenly reappear on your parents doorstep? You'll have to wait and find out. Hopefully it won't take about a month, but no promises. I'm not consistent. Have a nice day :D
