It was a beautiful morning in the Switzerland base. Your life at Overwatch was a great one, with great people and the fact that you got to protect the world, even if some members of the public didn't see it that way.

You loved your job. You got to help people get better and come up with new technologies. The X-ray visor for example was great for finding where shrapnel could be located after an explosion and do other things, too. More importantly, you got to work with Mercy, also known as Angela Ziegler. Sorry. Doctor Angela Ziegler. She was the beautiful head of your division, and you may or may not have a crush on her. You worked on several projects with her, from giving her staff a damage boost to improving the Valkyrie suit to working on cybernetics, mainly on Genji Shimada.

You got out of bed and got ready for the day. You walk out of your room and enter the mess hall for some breakfast. You get your food and sit at the table with your Overwatch colleagues, McCree, Genji, and of course, Angela.

"Howdy (y/n)." McCree says, tipping his hat.

"Hey guys. How are you doing?" You say, placing down your food.

"I'm okay. Still trying to get used to this new body, though" Genji says, moving his fingers.

"That's to be expected. Cybernetics can take some time adjusting to." Angela says. "Are things better between Jack and Gabe?"

"Doesn't seem like it." McCree says. "Sounds like he and some Blackwatch folks are planning for an attack soon. They asked me to join, but I'm going to refuse. It'll probably be best to leave before things get ugly."

"That's terrible. We need to make things better between them."

"Wish I could say that's possible, Angela, but you know Gabriel. Holds the longest grudges in human history."

"Angela, I know you want to save their friendship, but I wouldn't intervene. I don't want you to get hurt." You say.

"I know it's dangerous, but we have to try. We should just have them talk." She says.

"I haven't been here that long. Catch me up on the history, please?" Genji asked.

"Well, Genji, Jack Morrison and Gabriel Reyes were great friends back when Overwatch was first founded. Gabe was the leader, but everyone seemed to like Morrison more. I mean, who wouldn't? He was charismatic and would always look out for everyone, putting their lives in front of his. Once the Omnic crisis ended, two divisions were formed: Overwatch, which is led by Jack, and Blackwatch, which is led by Gabe. And you know the rest, with the past events that have happened. It makes me sad that these two friends are now breaking apart." Angela says.

"Thank you for the explanation." Genji said.

"I know you want to stop it, but how can you prevent the inevitable?" You ask.

Angela looked straight at you. "It's not inevitable just yet. I just have a feeling we can stop it. I'm going to have them talk to each other. While I'm gone, I want you to be in charge, (y/n)."

"Okay. Anything you want me to do?"

"Just oversee the medical wing and assign the duties to everyone. Maybe continue the research. Jesse, do you think you can help with the talk?"

"I guess so. We should have a few more people with us, just in case something happens." McCree says.

"I'll be in the practice range getting used to my new body. If you guys need help, just tell me." Genji says.

You guys finish breakfast and you go to the medical room. You tell everyone that you're in charge while Angela is gone and assign their jobs for the day.

"Erika and Chad, you are researching better ways to stitch up wounds. Masahiro, you're in charge of the electro-therapy research team. Patrick and Cameron, you two will be researching the "classified experiment" with me. You guys know what that is? Or were you two ignoring Angela and me when we were telling you?" You say.

"We know." Patrick says.

"Okay. Get to work."

Everyone leaves the room and gets to their assignments. You, Patrick, and Cameron do your job fairly well, at least when you weren't slacking off. That was normal with the classified assignment room, though. Even when it was just you and Angela, you two tended to slack off.

Occasionally, you would check on the medical wing to check on patients. There weren't too many, but still quite a few.

"Hello Fareeha. How's the leg?" You ask the Egyptian girl.

"Hey Dr. (l/n). Still broken." She replies.

"That was quite the accident, huh?"

"Yes. It was nice while it lasted, though. I felt like Iron Man when I was flying."

You laugh. "You're almost ready to join Overwatch if you'd like to."

"Seems like it. If only my mother were here to see me."

"Yes. We all miss Ana. Your mother was great."

"You probably knew her better than I did."

"Not really. She visited, and I healed her a bit, but that was it. Jack probably knows her more though. Your leg seems to be healing fast. You should be out of here shortly."

"Thank you for allowing me to heal in the Overwatch base even though I'm not a member."

"Hey, anything for a friend. Want the TV on?"

Fareeha nods. You turn it on and wave goodbye. You check on a couple more patients and walk back to the research facility. It was getting kinda late, so you figured you should wrap a couple things up before heading back to your room. You get there and file a few things into the computer. As soon as you turn it off, Angela walks into the room, and it looks like she had been crying. Her makeup was a mess and her eyes were red and puffy.

You get up from the chair and go towards her. "What happened?"

"I tried. I thought I could bring them together once again, but..." Angela stops talking and starts to cry.

You hug her and Angela sobs into your shoulder. She sobs for some time and then lets go.

"Thanks. I'm sorry you have to see me this way." She says as you hand her a tissue.

"It's okay. We're all okay. Do you want to talk about what happened?" You say offering a seat.

Angela sighs. "I guess you should know." She says as she takes a seat on the couch with you next to her.

"Jack was the first to arrive and he seemed kinda cheery at first. At least, until Gabriel walked into the room. I tried talking to them and reminding them about the past. Jack started to talk and make things better at first, but Gabriel wouldn't really listen. Then they started yelling at each other. I got them to calm down for a bit, but then Jack said...I forgot. But I remember what Gabriel said. He said "Sometimes I want to punch you in your perfect teeth." After that, there was no hope getting them to calm down. It got violent, and you know how I feel about that. Jesse and some of the other guys broke up the fight and I was alone in the room."

You hug her again and silently tears roll down her cheeks. You wish you could make her happy, but how?

"Is there anything I could do?" You ask.

"Really I have no idea at this point. Why did it have to be like this?"

It's quiet for a few moments. Then you get an idea.

"You need to get your mind off of this. Want to go out for dinner tonight? I mean as friends." You say that last bit kinda fast.

Angela looks at you as the tears stop. She softly laughs and sniffs. "You're right. I suppose it wouldn't hurt to head out for a bit. I'll head up to my room and make myself more presentable."

You guys leave the research facility and head to your rooms. You put on a blue button down shirt and comb your hair. It wasn't a date, but you still wanted to look nice for her. Who knows? Maybe it could end up being a date.

You walk out of your room and go to Angela's door. You knock and you hear the Swiss voice behind the door say, "Come in. It's open."

You open the door and see Angela in a beautiful black dress. She's looking at herself in the mirror and is fixing her hair, putting it in a ponytail. Her makeup, which was running earlier, has been reapplied, and she looked beautiful with it.

"Hey (y/n). Sorry I'm running a bit late. I might be a bit overdressed for this occasion." She says.

"You-you look...stunning." You stutter. You were at a loss for words.

"Danke, (y/n)." She says, blushing a bit. "So, do you have a place picked out?"

"Well, there's an American-styled diner around here if you want to try that. But this is your day, and your home country. If you want to pick a different place, that's fine."

"No, American sounds good. Let's go there."

You two walk out of the base and go to the diner. You order a burger and Angela, surprisingly does not order a salad. Instead she gets a burger, too, with a chocolate shake.

"That's unexpected of you to order this." You say.

"Well, I could use the calories. I feel like I deserve the shake, anyway." She says.

"You do indeed. To you."

You raise your glass and clink it with hers. You two have an enjoyable dinner and night out. After dinner you just walked around the town, going window shopping and just having fun. You didn't want to return to base, but you had to. You guys had work in the morning.

"Thank you for tonight. I really needed that." Angela said by her door.

"It was no trouble at all. I had fun." You say.

"Me too. Maybe we could do it again sometime. Well, goodnight."

"G-goodnight."

Angela walks into her room and you stand by the door in thought. Was this a date? Or did she just mean as friends going out again? You went through several thoughts as you made your way to your room. You were still thinking about the amazing night you had and wondering what it meant while laying in bed. You force yourself to put these thoughts aside and get some rest. Who knew what tomorrow had in store.

(A/n) Well, first chapter of Mercy x Reader is done! I'll probably be working on this story a bit to get things up to speed. I'll still be updating D.va x reader and Tracer x reader, though. If you have any suggestions for the story, let me know if you'd like. Have a nice day :D
