He kicked me out.

Can you believe that? Just when I was so close to unveiling the truth about his past, he asked me to leave.

I gave his nose a little kiss and ran away.

"I was on a date with Mal" Rina says, her mouth in a tight line. I sigh.
"They know that we met Mal. They also know that you two are together"

"Why didn't you tell me if you kissed him?" I narrow my eyes at her, raising my eyebrows. She shrugs and takes a bite out of her cookie.
"I wanted to tell you. Just didn't have the time"
"Fuck off"

"Why don't we tell them that we know they know?" I bite my nails. God, I used to taunt Ria for this habit and now I'm the one doing it.

She rolls her eyes. "Use your brain, Trea. They're technically murderers. What's the guarantee that they won't kill us? You said that Bianca proposed to threaten us with knives to our throats"

I mean I guess she has a point. But Felix would never hurt us, would he? Neither would Zane and I doubt Bianca would be able to do anything without his permission.

"So, what do you think we should do? I think we should just get as far away from them as possible. It's better for both of us" she dips her cookie in the cup of milk.
"However, I don't know if that's gonna work since their leader is in love with you" she adds.

I snort.
"Rina, he just needs someone to get his mind off of things. He needs a distraction, not a lover" I stand up and walk towards the couch, picking up my bag.

"You're literally the only one who doesn't see it. You're blind, Trea"

"You wanna come or not?" I sling the bag over my shoulder, straightening out my blush pink skirt before walking out the door with Rina.

"You wanna go out for coffee after college?" Cal asks, a black bag slung over his shoulder. I put my book back in my back and zip it up.
"Sure, pick me up"

He nods and continues to stare at me. I sigh. "What? You've been looking at me for the past ten minutes!" I keep my arms tucked.

He scratches the back of his head and chuckles awkwardly.
"It's just...you don't spend much time with me nowadays"

A pang of guilt hits my heart as I realise how long it's been since our last Icee meet up. I guess I've been a little too invested in the ETF to hang out. That's gonna have to change.

"I'm sorry. I'm really busy nowadays. I pinky promise I'll spend more time with you" we join pinkies and I giggle lightly before picking up my bag and walking out of the class.

The phone rings in my pocket. I pick it up and notice a text.

Felix🍧 : Yo, we're going to a sideshow later. Wanna join in?

Me: Sure. What time?

Felix🍧: I'll pick you up at exactly 6:30 pm. Be ready and wear something edgy if you wanna attract the guys ;)

Me: Shut it.

I smile to myself and tuck my phone back into my pocket.

I find Rina near the lockers and drag her with me.
"Where are we going? The cafeteria has a new confection we can try" she walks beside me on the pavement as we make our way to the cafe.

"Felix asked me to meet him" I say out of nowhere. She runs a hand through her hair.
"You're going? I thought you promised Cal to go out for coffee?"

I nod.

"Cal and I are going out for coffee after college and I'm meeting Felix at 6:30. There's a lot of time" I shrug.

"Are you sure being this close to them is safe? I dunno, I'm still unsure" she sighs. I take a look at her. She looks cool, as always, but there's also something else.

"You okay?" I put a hand on her shoulder. She nods.
"I'm okay. Mal and I just got into a fight"

I smile sympathetically "It's alright. What was the fight over?" She bites her lip. "I asked him to just work things out with Zane and his team. He got mad and told me that he can't work with someone who wants to kill him and his brother" she pauses to take a breath.

"Trea, I don't wanna lose him, but more than that, I don't wanna lose you. We're gonna have to do something about their stupid fight. They have Tyril, and Mal wants me to convince them to free him"

I recall them handcuffing Tyril and dragging him somewhere. I didn't dare to question where they were taking him. Also, Tyril looks like Loki. Seriously, the same hair, same smirk, same eyes. He's like Loki from wish.

"You're hanging out with them later, aren't you? Why don't you convince Zane to free him?" she says like it's nothing. I exhale loudly.
"Rina, I don't know why Zane is so closed off and quiet, but I do know that it has something to do with Tyril. He's not gonna listen to me"

We walk to the cafe and try out all the new sweets. Some of them were sweeter than the others, but my favourite ones were those that weren't too sweet. They just tasted right.

After eating, we walk out of the cafe and I spot Cal's car in a distance. He waves us over and Rina turns to me.
"I gotta go. You have fun with Cal" I smile and walk over to his car.

He pulls me into a bone-crushing bear hug and gets into the car. Rubbing my arms, I follow.

"So, where do you wanna go first?" He smiles at me warmly, and I return it. I think for a second.
"Let's go get an Icee first" he laughs.
"Always the same, Trea. Always the same"

After getting two blues Icees, we decide to take a walk around the city, stopping at random shops and enjoying each other's company.

I check the time on my phone. 6:15 pm.

"Cal, can you drop me off at Hades?" I ask him, smiling brightly. He nods.
"Why?" I just shrug. "Plans with friends"

He laughs "You have friends?" I give him the fakest smile I can muster "Very funny. Now, drop me off"

I ask him to take me home so I can change first. Quickly scurrying in through the door, I raid my closet.

I don't have anything edgy.

But I have a best friend.

I raid Rina's room, looking for clothes. She's got so many party-wear clothes that I have the urge to steal them all. In the end, I select something way out of my comfort zone.

I put on tight leather pants with a red strapless top and a chain. I look like I belong in a gang. After quickly curling my hair and doing my makeup, I leave.

I get into the car and Cal raises his brows. I roll my eyes.
"Never knew I would see you in something like this" I laugh and we drive straight to the restaurant.

Outside, Zane's car stands in all its glory.

"You shouldn't go to places like these alone" he looks unapprovingly at the restaurant. "And why's that?"
He shrugs "It's owned by Zane Aleksander. You wouldn't want to get anywhere near him" I internally laugh.

Cal, the guy's told me that I'm beautiful, kissed my collarbone and booped my nose. How much closer can I get?

I nod and get out of the car. When the cold air hits my bare skin, I shiver. I should definitely not have worn this.

Walking into the restaurant, I'm met with the smell of food. There are so many couples having dinner, some families with children and an old man near the back. Alone.

Don't cry, I say to myself. Don't you dare cry.

I feel tears sting my vision when I notice the photo frame of a beautiful woman in front of him on the table.

I walk over and he looks up, smiling. The smile is so warm I just wanna stay there for the rest of my life. I point to the seat in front of him.
"Can I sit?" He nods happily and clears the table in front of me.

"Hi, I'm Astraea" I beam happily. He nods, the corners of his warm brown eyes crinkling. "I'm Albert" his voice is so grandfatherly that I wanna be his granddaughter now. He turns the frame towards me and smiles.

"This is my beautiful wife, Dana"

To say that I was crying would be an understatement.
