Zane Aleksander.
Zane Aleksander.
Zane Aleksander.
Zane Aleksander.

Zane Aleksander.

The name echoes in my mind. I cradle my head in my hands and random waves of goosebumps travel through my body.

Throughout the car ride, Cal kept asking me if anything was wrong but all I could reply with was "I'm fine".

What was I even supposed to tell him?
That I gave the son of satan the middle finger?

That night, I lay on my bed, researching even more on Aleksander The Great. I knew a lot about him already, but I wanted to know more.

Zane Aleksander was the firstborn son of the notorious businessman Elias Aleksander. His father was known to be the most ruthless man and had a very bad reputation for getting people killed.

As for Zane, well, as I said, he was the son of satan. Just as, if not, even more brutal than his father. There were records of him killing people for doing so much as looking at him. Me? Well, I had straight-up shown him the middle finger.

He was arrested three times but released almost immediately. People knew of him and his power and tried hard to not get on his nerves.

The look he gave me tonight almost had me throwing up.

I immediately start searching for pretty caskets and funeral services online.

Zane was like a freaking storm. He destroyed every single thing in his way.

He was kinda hot.

No. Stop it.

I sigh. Even I couldn't deny the aura that he held. It was as if the guy was carved by God himself. Sharp jawline, cheekbones, that scary cut on his eyebrow. It all made me shudder.

There's a little knock on my door but before I can even ask the person to come in, the door's already opening. Ria peeks into my room to find me sitting on the bed and planning my funeral.

Maybe he doesn't remember. He probably has too much work to do so he doesn't remember me. Yes. That could be a possibility. I mean, I feel like he's involved in some underground shady things so he's probs too busy.

"Hey...uh.." She trails off and scratches the back of her head. She's usually never this nervous so I get a little suspicious.

"You're not trying to sneak out, are you? Because I'm not helping you even if you beg. Mom got mad at both of us last time".

She immediately shakes her head while holding up her hands. Ria walks over to the bed and takes a seat on the edge.

I close my laptop and move a little closer to her. Her orange, fluffy hair is tied up in a hair tie and she's wearing one of MY tops.

Thief.

"Who did you kill?" I put a pillow on my lap and stare at her, waiting for her to say something.

"There's this guy...."

"You killed a guy?"

She facepalms and makes a noise that makes me think of a whale dying. Not that I've ever seen a whale dying. "No, stupid. There's this guy that that I like..."

I almost scream and wake up the whole town when she says that. Does Euphoria Iglesias have a little crush?

"Oh. My. God. Who is he?" I cover my mouth and wiggle my eyebrows at her. For a moment, I forget that the country's most dangerous man is probably planning my funeral.

"Well, his name is Ezekiel and he's really sweet...." She smiles at me awkwardly and I squint my eyes.

My mind buzzes with the 'fuck you Ezekiel' meme and I bite my cheek to stop myself from laughing at her face.

"And......?"

"Well, he asked me to come over but the problem is that he lives outside the city. Don't worry! I asked mom for permission and she said that as long as you come with me, she'd let me go".

I raise an eyebrow. "He lives outside the city. How do you know he's not an axe murderer?"

She bites her nails and I immediately slap her hand away. Ever since she was little, she has had this habit of chewing on her nails. I've been lecturing her about how unsanitary that is but she just doesn't listen.

"I've known him for two years now! Just trust me!" She looks at me with pleading eyes and blinks continuously.

"Mom will only allow me to go if you come with me. Please?"

I sigh and nod. "Fine."

Her eyes instantly light up and she screeches, covering her mouth with her hands. Ria and I get along just fine, though sometimes she makes me want to commit manslaughter. Still, for the most part, we tolerate each other.

She cheerfully leaves my room and I'm once again left solitary with my thoughts, no matter how much I don't want to.

I lay my head on the pillow and close my eyes, hoping to fall asleep, but I keep tossing and turning for the next hour or two before actually falling asleep.

The next day passes in a blur and somehow it's night time again, even though I laid in my bed for more than half of the day. College is starting soon so I also need to go shopping. I sigh. To top it all, my mind wanders to Zane and his schemes again. I lay on the cold floor and stare at the ceiling. I'm bored as frick.

I need a distraction. Something that will take my mind off of the fact that some underground secret assassin is trying to kill me.

Should I go to a fancy restaurant? Or perhaps to the park?

Then, it hits me like a bowling ball. I should go clubbing! That seems like the perfect escape for a time like this.

Hopping off of the floor, I walk to my closet. I move the clothes around for some time but find nothing that catches my eye.

Then I remember that I have a sister.

I let out an evil laugh and rub my hands together.

I sneakily enter her room and open her dresser. As expected, there are a million glamorous dresses that seem to be practically glittering.

One dress, in particular, catches my interest. I move the dresses aside and pull it out. Since when does she own this thing and why does nobody tell me nothing?

The lacy edges look like something from a princess wardrobe. It's a rose gold colour but the rims are a creamy shade. The neckline is a little too deep for my comfort but I guess we gotta work with what we've got.

I quietly leave the room and walk into mine. After hastily putting it on, I twirl in front of the mirror.

I look like an ironing board in a dress.

Ria is five years younger, but somehow still has a better figure than me. I'm so freaking jealous.

I style my hair in any way I can and walk out. While walking, my mind keeps wandering off to Zane and his evil schemes. Why can't I get this out of my head?

I finally reach 'Temptation'. It's the biggest club in town and it's fairly new so I decide to visit. On the entrance stand two dangerous-looking guards. I get a little nervous when it's my turn to show the ID but I put on a happy face and hold it out in front of them. The ginger guard looks at it and then back at me sceptically.

I flash him a nervous smile and awkwardly wave my hand.

His eyes scan my outfit and after ages, he finally steps to the side and lets me in. I let out a breath of relief. Every single time someone asks to see my ID, I get weirdly terrified for no reason.

Once safely inside, I turn around and notice a girl flashing the guard to be let in. I cover my eyes, of course, but that would've been me if I didn't have my card.

Shaking my head, I make my way to the bar, dodging every man that comes in my direction. I take a seat on one of the bar stools and the bartender asks me what I would like.

I order some weird alcoholic drink that I've never heard of but wanna try.

When it arrives, I smell it for a few seconds. What does it smell like? It doesn't really smell like much of anything except for smoke. Oh well, I guess you only live once.

I gulp it down in one shot.

The warm liquid burns my throat but gradually warms my chest. It tastes good. I decide then that I wanna get hardcore drunk tonight.

I look around when the music gets louder. This club is fancy. High ceilings, ornate, sleek designs and the best part; the dance floor.

It twinkles with colours and I stare at one couple in particular who's killing it. Their bodies move with perfect harmony and their outfits look incredible. I wish that was me.

One of the girls looks over at me and smiles happily. My heart feels warm and I smile back. She then goes back to dancing. I take a sip of my drink.

Then, my eyes ignore the rest of the crowd as they land on a certain pair of mossy irises.

His gaze flickers to me and for a moment, I forget to breathe.

A/N

Hello, everyone! This chapter was way too long for my liking. I know. I know. 1600 words isn't a lot, but I'm used to writing 1000 word chapters and this was out of my comfort zone. Guess that's gonna have to change. Gotta step out of the comfort zone now.

Thank you for reading! Vote, comment and tell me what you think!
