CHAPTER SIXTY-ONE

IT WAS DARK. Fairly dark? No, completely pitch black. It was as if I had my head up my arse but then I remembered I wasn't as egotistical as some people in this world. In reality. I was only covered by a few hundred clothes and shoes from my closet. I had showered and managed to do my makeup which was a total disaster in itself. But finding an outfit, yeah we caught the drift, I was bad at it.

I sat up, clothes falling from my body and onto the floor. I shrugged them off and walked into my room, my sweatpants now turned into culottes.

I grabbed my phone from the stack of books I had piled up on my side table and clicked on the group chat, pressing the call button immediately. I set my phone against the lamp that was already on and waited until at least one person had joined the call.

"Please, come on.." I bit on my nail, anticipating someone joining right now. I still hadn't told Betty about going on a date, let alone about me and Theo more than people who made eye contact in the school corridors. Now it felt real and I couldn't wait for tonight.

I tilted the clock towards me and cursed when I saw that it was half-five. Theo was picking me up very soon and I still wasn't ready.

All of a sudden a sound echoed through my phone. "Bonjour madam."

I looked down to see Cadence was still in bed, her hair in pigtails— before it was almost the evening.

"Is that Spider-Man makeup you have on? I didn't know you were such a Marvel fan." Her face was completely covered in blue and red makeup, only her eyes were the only thing that wasn't painted on.

Cadence sighed, "My four-year-old cousin came over. She's obsessed with Marvel."

"Oh, right. Makes sense." I nodded and rubbed my temples. The stress was getting to me and I didn't think the fact I was having a date with Theo tonight had kicked in yet. I knew I was going to be a nervous wreck later, my body was just preparing me for the worst.

"I'm surprised Angel hasn't joined the call, she's been boasting about her new horse on the group chat ever since seven in the morning." I coughed my guts up.

"She has a horse?" I asked, staring at the screen. Through the makeup, I could Cadence laughing.

"Jet black one called Misty." The camera angle was off her phone that was resting on her stomach, showing the several double chins she had. "She sent like a gazillion photos on the group chat, did you not see?" I didn't.

"I've been caught up with stuff over here. I haven't been on my phone for like the whole day." I pressed back onto the group chat and scrolled through the millionth of messages Angel had sent, and that wasn't even including pictures. Misty was a jet-black horse with a shiny mane. In the one picture I had pressed into, Angel was standing next to her new horse with a giant grin, holding a purple saddle and reins.

"What money can buy, hey?" Cadence joked and I nodded.

"Does she know how to ride a horse or do you think that was an intrusive buy?" I scrolled through the rest of the pictures with a smile on my face. Angel looked so happy and I felt guilty for not messaging back about Misty. But I was sure Angel didn't even care, she looked too excited by the fact she had a new horse.

"Think that was an intrusive buy.." She smirked before shaking her head and sitting up against her bed. "She's been taking riding lessons so I'm guessing her parents decided to buy her a horse."

"She does horse riding lessons? Since when?" How did I not know about this? Holy frick I had to pay more attention.

"She's been doing them for a couple of months, she hadn't told me until a couple of days ago."

"Right, that's cool," I said, feeling a bit butt hurt that she didn't tell me. But then I remembered I hadn't known Angel for long so she might not think we were close like I thought we were. "Hey, do you think you could help me with something?" I asked as I took my phone into my closet, kicking the pile of discarded materials of clothes and whatnot.

Cadence sat up. "Sure, what is it?"

I flipped the camera around. "This."

Her eyes widened and her mouth dropped open. "What's happened there? Did you have some sort of wardrobe malfunction?"

I snickered and rubbed my throbbing head. "Yeah."

"Wait!" Cadence shouted. "Don't you have a date tonight? With Theo?" I flipped the camera around and nodded. I blew a few loose strands away from my face and set my phone up against the wall on the floor. I crouched down and started going through the pile of clothes, crying inwardly.

"I just need help with choosing an outfit. Angel's usually so good with it but she's not here to help." I said and tossed a shirt aside. Not date-worthy.

"I wouldn't worry, you have a great style so anything would look good on you." She tilted her phone as she grabbed something. She came back with a pink lollipop in her mouth.

"Thanks." I couldn't help but smile. Even though I hated conflict, I loved compliments. Somebody could compliment me a thousand times and I'd still want more. Was that bad of me? "What about this?" I tugged a pink cropped knitted smock from the pile and Cadence twisted her head in thought.

She pulled the lollipop from her mouth. "Do you know where he's taking you?"

"No. I did suggest my ideal date since he asked so I'm kind of guessing that might be what's going to happen. He seemed pretty adamant about that type of date and hasn't mentioned anything else." I shrugged and fiddled with the knitted smock in my hands. I put that to one side in a pile. The maybe pile.

"What's your ideal date?"

I smiled as I went through the pile of clothes. "An outdoor dinner date by a lake. Fairy lights and everything."

"That sounds amazing. You know, not only do you have a good fashion sense but your ideal date is even stylish." She laughed and so did I. "Hey, what about that beige-looking skirt there." She pointed to the screen and I scavenged the pile, grabbing the beige skirt she was referring to.

My mouth twisted in consideration.

"That, a white plain tank if you have one, and that pink smock. I think that looks perfect on you. Because it's dressy but not over dressy."

I nodded along to her idea and decided to go with it. I stood up and grabbed the clothes. "I'll go try them on and show you afterward." I said and Cadence shouted an 'okay' at me. I went into my bathroom and stripped off my sweatpants and shirt and shimmied the skirt up my lower half, buttoning up the small brown almond button on the front. I kept my normal bra on and pulled the small white tank and smock on, turning around to have a look in the mirror. It looked great.

My legs were shaved and moisturized from my shower but my hair was still damp. I had to dry it and maybe style it, if I could be asked.

I went back into the closet and tilted the phone down at my outfit, a scream emitting from my phone. "Holy moly! Willow, you look like a bloody model. God, what I'd do to look like you." She was so sweet. I think I was blushing.

I pulled the camera away from my outfit and to my face, a wide smile on my face. "Thanks, Cadence. The outfit looks amazing, it does. I'm so glad I've got you and Angel to help me with clothes because I can't put an outfit together to save my life."

She waved a hand dismissively. "It's no worries, girl. I'm happy to help." She popped the lollipop back into her mouth before standing up, taking the camera with her. She set her phone up against the window in her bathroom. "I should wash this off now else it's going to permanently stain my face. I don't know what products that four-year-old used but it stinks."

I chuckled as I watched her grab a bar of soap and rub it across her skin. "Good luck with that," I said and she let out a fake cry.

"I'm going to be here forever." She cried again. The makeup wasn't budging. She sent me a frazzled look of horror. "I'm going to have to get my mom. I'll text you with updates later and oh hey— good luck later on. Don't worry about anything, he's the hottest guy to ever exist and he has chosen you, and I see why. Goodbye!"

I giggled and sent her a flying kiss. "Bye, and thank you. Have fun getting that off."

She cried again before the audio cut off and I was left staring at my call log, the call shortly ending. I checked the time again to see it was almost six.

I hastily pressed onto Theo's existing message he had sent me a couple of hours ago: Red or pink flowers? Wait no, it's okay. I got both.

He had gotten me flowers?

Now I felt like I needed to get him something.

I sent him a quick thumbs up before throwing my phone onto my bed and dashing into my closet to put away the clothes I had pulled out from their hangers. Once that was done I slipped my feet into some shoes and grabbed a bag. My room felt empty and quiet, and that was because Zoe was at my auntie's again. My aunty loved Zoe, Zoe loved my aunty, it was perfect. Especially when I needed to go out somewhere and I always had my aunty to rely on.

I quickly dried my hair and curled it, heading my brother's annoying whiny voice shout from his room.

"Hey, Willow?!" I sighed and walked into the hallway, trying to brush my fingers through the fresh curls.

"What do you want?" I asked, pushing open his door. As the door opened wider, I saw Callum in front of his mirror, buttoning a pale blue shirt up. "What's going on? Is Jackson finally wiping your ass?"

He sent me a blank expression through the mirror.

"You know not all couples have to have a set bottom and top, right?" He grabbed his hair gel from his shelf. I grinned and stood next to him, bumping my hip with his.

"So you're together? As in, a couple?"

"What? No!"

I looked up at him and winked. "You just outed yourself there boy. No need to lie."

He went to say something when he stopped himself, ultimately giving up. He sighed and put some gel into his hair, ignoring me.

"Want me to help with anything? Need any tips?" I asked and he whacked my arm with his. I glared at him through the mirror. "What? I'm just trying to be a nice sister."

He sighed again. "Nerves. I've been on dates before, a lot actually—"

"Okay, asshole. No need to boast." I rolled my eyes and he stomped on my foot. "Ow!"

"Anyway, as I was saying. I have been on a load of dates with girls but since this is my first date with a guy, I feel pretty nervous." I felt good that he was confiding in me. As a liked.

"Well, as much as I wanted to give you actual advice where I wasn't lying my guts out to you, where I'd tell you that you don't need to be nervous because you and Jackson have come so far that he isn't going to care what you look like, or what you say, he's just there to spend a romantic evening with you, I wouldn't trust me because I throw up after every minor inconvenience."

"That's not normal." He murmured as he was drying his hands off from the gel. Then he walked over to his jacket that he was going to wear tonight. It was a letter. He threw it at me and I was fortunate to grab it.

"What's this?"

He sent me a deadpan look before shoving me out of the way to grab something. I was staring down at the piece of folded paper.

"What does it look like, Einstein?"

"I don't know. Some paper?"

He sent me another blank look. "Exactly. Now opening the darn thing, God you're so slow."

I huffed at his brotherly love but unfolded the piece of paper anyway. My eyes traced along the words.

...I like you. A lot, Jackson.

What was this? This better not be what it looked like.

But as I scanned through the rest of the paper, it was what it looked like.

"Callum," I slapped my hand onto his shoulder. "We are much more like each other than you think." He looked at me with pinched brows.

"What do you mean?"

I huffed and sat down on his desk chair, spinning myself around.

"This is going to sound weirdly coincidental, but I shit you not, wrote Theo a letter too. I just found it so hard to tell him how I feel with verbal words so writing it down was a lot simpler. Is that why you did it too?" I looked up to see Callum looking at me with a sort of loving brotherly look.

But then it went away and he was back to his usual self. "Nope. I wrote him a letter because he likes old-fashioned things so I decided to write him a crusty ol' letter."

I kicked his leg.

"God, you're so self-centered."

He kicked my leg back but with more oomph in it.

"How am I being self-centered? I did something for him!" He was right, but still.

"Because you said 'crusty ol' letter which tells me you didn't want to do it. You only did it because he likes old-fashioned things. God," I breathed out and stood up, "men." I rolled my eyes.

I threw him his crusty ol' letter and walked out of his room. "Hey! I'm a nice person!" He shouted from his room and I walked off, giving him the finger.

Men, honestly.

Or maybe it was just my brother who was like that.

I hope Jackson kept him in check.

I took myself downstairs and into the kitchen, filling up some water for myself. I drank most of it before I put it into the sink, seeing a couple of rose petals that looked like they led somewhere. I frowned and followed behind them. They were leading to the front door and I couldn't wait to see what it was that was at the end.

I slowly opened the door and stepped outside. My eyes trained on the red and pink rose petals that led me down the drive. Then the petals stopped, replacing them with a pair of polished black shoes. My brows dressed and I looked up, seeing Theo leaning up against his car, a leather jacket hung over his large frame and a beautiful array of flowers in his hand. I gulped to myself, gawking at the sight. Eyes. His eyes were the brightest and most gorgeous eyes I had ever set upon on. Eyes were the key to his soul and they twinkled. His hair shone in the lightness of the sky. His dark hair, wispy and fluffy framed his sharp features. His sharp jawline and his perfect full lips, a face that's offensively, imperfectly handsome. His face was attached to a broad, solid body that I was imagining was bulging and flexing at every slight movement he made. His thick, strong thighs had my eyes set on them for a couple of seconds, a couple of seconds too long before his pearly white teeth were appearing. He was smirking.

Theo pushed himself off his car, his shiny blue Mustang, and strode forward, his beautiful emerald eyes scanning down my body. My numb and weak body that I felt was craving his touch more and more every day. My hands were clammy and warm, simultaneously dragging down the side of my legs to get rid of the feeling. Theo bit down on his juicy red lip, his metal lip ring clutching onto his lip for dear life. I felt like I was clutching on for dear life, especially when he smelt this divine. He was taking over every logical sense I had inside of me.

I felt myself come undone for this man.

Theodore.

"Look at you," he said, his voice dropping a few tones. A hand grabbed one of mine and spun me around, my curled hair following suit. I felt my heartbeat quicken when I found those eyes staring at me again, a dangerous glint in his eye. "You look..." he paused and rubbed his jaw. "You look fucking beautiful, Will."

Will.

Will.

He could say that more often.

I loved him saying my name.

I felt a pool of warmth bubble in my lower stomach. He did this to me.

You don't look too bad yourself," I said in a whisper, feeling him not only take over my thoughts but also my voice. He had taken my breath away the second I saw him on that very special day. Where I was in grief with my friend moving away to having a somewhat better day knowing that he had seen me. A guy, who was as hot as him, had seen me and didn't look disgusted.

My hands found Theo's leather jacket, and my hands dragged slowly down his chest, feeling the warmth coming from his body, too. He caught my hands and held them, his eyes dropping to my lips. I felt his eyes on them, and I was sure that he could feel my eyes on his, too.

I wanted to kiss him so badly. I wanted him to claim me as his so bad. I wanted his warm lips pressed up against mine in a blissful blink of an eye. I wanted his arms on my waist, his warm, warm hands on me. I wanted nothing more than to wrap my arms around his neck, pulling him down onto my lips. Deeper. Harder. Lips. I wanted him to kiss me so badly.

But that wasn't going to happen, and I didn't know when it would.

Theo pulled back away from me, an inaudible whine escaping past my lips. "These are for you." He said instead, holding the pretty roses in front of me. I grabbed them with thanks and smelt them. But they didn't smell as good as him.

Theo grabbed the passenger door handle, pulling it open. "Come on, I want to get you there before the sun sets." He smirked and I let my eyes leave him to his car. I cleared my throat and sat inside, buckling myself in as per usual. Theo closed the door.

Then he stopped when a door opened and a chaotic Callum was running out the door. I undid my belt and got out, seeing what had happened that was causing him to run like a madman.

"Wait! You forgot this!" Callum shouted and ran over. My phone is in his hand. He was gasping for air when he got to me. "Here. You forgot to take it with you."

I took it from his hand and was ready to thank him before he wrapped his arms around me. Theo was watching from the opposite side of the car, a massive shit-eating grin on his face.

I wrapped my arms around Callum.

"What's this for?" I asked him and he pulled back.

"I'm sorry. I'm sorry for being such an idiot." He said before flicking a strand of my curled hair away from my face. "You look...very, dressy."

"Dressy?" I asked with a laugh.

He itched his neck. "I'm not good with this brotherly, sisterly type of thing. You just— you just look great." Then he hugged me again.

I gulped, heart burning. He hadn't hugged me since we were younger. It felt so nice.

Then he pulled away, a little too soon. "Now you have fun, alright?" He said affirmatively before looking over at Theo. "And no funny business! She's still my sister!"

I turned to Theo to see him giving me some sort of look, and I felt warm all over again. "I promise she's in good hands." Then he got in his car, and I swallowed hard, my skin covered with goosebumps.

"I'll see you in a bit. Good luck on tonight as well, by the way." I slapped both his shoulders before getting back into Theo's car. Theo started the car before I had my belt on.

As Theo drove on, Callum patted the car, waving from the sidewalk.

Men, maybe they weren't so bad.

I refocused my attention back on Theo as he had one hand on the wheel, the other on the center console. His side profile was soft but also a little sharp. His lips were thick and I loved staring at him. Maybe too
