I sat up in bed and reached for my phone that sat upon the nightstand ringing. It was nine o’ clock in the morning on a Sunday.

“Hello-

“WAKE YO’ ASS UP!!!” Mackayla shouted into my ear. Always so hostile.

“Good morning to you too,” I said in a dry tone. “How does Chase put up with you? I feel so bad for the poor guy.”

“ He knows what’s up!” I move the phone away from my ear so I wouldn't go deaf. “Anyways," she began  in a much softer tone. “Have you decided rather you gonna breast feed or not.”

“I have no idea what you're talking about,” I said, innocently. I was ready for her to go 0-100 so I moved the phone away from my ear, respectively.

“I know your ass is pregnant! Don't lie to me or I'll come over there with Chase's belt and spank you and your husband’s ass!”

“An ass can't be pregnant, Mackayla.” She growled. “Alright-alright chill out, I'm five weeks," I mumbled.

Mackayla squealed with excitement. “I knew it!!! My baby sis is pregnant!!!” she shouted. I rolled my eyes. “Anyways, you know Gigi gets out of the hospital in like ten minutes. That's actually why I called." Crap, crap, crap I forgot about Gigi. I darted out of bed and went straight for the walk in closet attempting to get dress while talking to Mackayla.

“Shit, I forgot.”

“I know. Look, just meet us at Gigi’s apartment because you're not gonna make it in time.”

“Alright, I’ll be there.” I hung up.

“Where are you going?” A deep voice asked. Jericho was standing in the doorway of the walk in closet holding a tray of waffles, sliced pinapples, orange juice, sausages, and a hashbrown. It smelled so good. He raised a brow waiting for my answer.

“Gigi is getting released from the hospital and I want to be there.” I pulled out a pair of jeans, a tank top, and my favorite wedge sandals.

He furrowed his brows looking very serious. “Breakfast first,” he commanded and took me by the hand and sat me down upon the bed. He places the tray on my lap. I gaze up at him and roll my eyes.

“Fine.” I took the fork and knife cutting into the waffles. “So tell me about your family,” I slipped in as I placed a waffle in my mouth chewing, eyebrows high on my forehead waiting for his reply.

He stiffened and raised his chin, staring down his nose at me. “I’m an orphan, Mona. I don't have family,” he said very tightly. Before I could even get another syllable out he leaves the room. I sigh. Carla was right. This won’t be easy because how in the hell do I even get him to talk to his mother. He won't even acknowledge he has family. Five minutes later he comes back into the room and places down my prenatal pills among others my doctor prescribed.

“Don't forget to take these,” he says cooly and left the room once again.

Later, I sat on Gigi’s sofa, laughing to myself as Gigi’s mom Pamela made a fuss over her.

“Momma, I’m fine. Will you sit down somewhere?”

“Alright now, you ain’t too old for a whoopin’,” Pamela said and sauntered into the kitchen to cook.

Gigi sighed and sat next to me, laying her head on my shoulder. “This is exactly why I moved away from Georgia.”

“You’re lucky you still have a momma to annoy you,” Mackayla said and frowned, rubbing her small baby bump.

I smile. “You need a distraction.”

She piped up. “What did you have in mind?” Gigi asked with eagerness.

I tell her about Jericho’s friend Mark. How he’s single and looking for a woman. I was jumping a little ahead of everyone on this, but from what Jericho told me it was definitely worth a shot. Plus, it was about time Gigi found someone. She was the type of woman who kept falling for the wrong man. Mark seemed like a geniune guy, didn't run games.

She raises a brow out of pure intrigue. “So he’s a white boy?” her coffee brown eyes lit up. I nod. “Mhmm, sign me up.” I laughed myself out the door and got on the phone with Jericho to set things up.

“Yo,” he answered on the second ring, breathing heavy.

I furrowed my brows, walking up and down Gigi’s apartment complex. “What are you doing?”

He was still breathing heavy and it took him a moment to answer. “I’m at the gym, sweet thing.”

“Oh.” I heard the sound of him punching something.

“What’s up?”

“Um... So... Mark, is he really single?” I wince at my horrible delivery.

“What?! Why?!” I hear the sound of someone howling in pain and Jericho apologizing profusely. “See what you did?! I almost killed the guy with my brutal uppercut because of you! Why do you want to know about Mark?! I thought I was more than enough man for you.”

“You’re an ass, Jericho. I’m asking about Mark for Gigi.” There was a long pause then I heard a deep rumble of laughter on the other end.

“You're playing matchmaker?”

“Something like that. You gonna help me out?”

“Sure. Mark needs to get laid. He’s been acting like a bitch lately.”

“I was thinking we could do the triple date thing. You know so it won't be awkward for them. It’s kind of going to be a blind date.”

“Hmm...” he contemplates. “I like the way you're thinking... Yeah, I’ll talk to Mark.”

“Good. Gigi says she’s in.”

“I'm suing!” A guy shouts from the background on Jericho's end.

“You’ll be fine,” Jericho says to the the guy. “Just put some ice on it.”  Then to me he says, “Anyways, love you babe!”

“Love you, too.” We hung up.
