All four of us sat within the uptown Savannah's Bar & Grill, and the whole time Jericho was being extra touchy feely while talking sports with Chase. Mackayla just glared at me shaking her head. Everyone ordered a steak dinner and bear except Mackayla who said the baby wanted her to have a huge burger.

"So, how did you guys meet?" Mackayla asked raising a perfectly arched brow, taking a sip of her water.

I wonder how he was going to answer this one. So I just sat back and let Mackayla grill him. "Well," he started and stretched, putting his arm around me. "My brown sugar and I met at the grocery store when I had to put a smack down on some prick that was getting a little too touchy feely. She called me her hero and I took her home and hit the first night." He kissed my temple and I choked off a piece of steak. Chase laughed.

"How romantic," Mackayla said with a deadpan look.

"Ah yea, had to put my name on it." Mackayla's honey-brown eyes grew real wide. He was just too much. I think I better throw in a message too.

"What do you do for a living, Jericho?" Chase asked trying and failing to suppress his laughter. Mackayla on the other hand was not amused.

"I'm an architect and just made partner at New World Inc."

P-Partner?

I turned to him and my eyes said why you never tell me these things?

His eyes said you never ask, brown sugar.

"Congratulations and yes, I've heard of that company. Hired them to design my building in New York," Chase replied with a smile.

"Any family," Mackayla asked.

"I'm an orphan," he replied quickly. His face grew impassive, unreadable. But I knew somehow that was a lie. We'll talk about it later. Mackayla's eyes did a full body scan of him. I knew that look. She was forming an opinion about Jericho, taking in his strong masculine features even his clothes. He wore black like a religion. Well he actually wasn't wearing all black this evening, if the grey strips in his black linen shirt counted. How many pairs of black slacks did he have? He caught me staring and winked. I rolled my eyes.

"I need to go to the bathroom." Mackayla practically dragged me along with her. "How long have you known him?" It was my turn to be grilled. We were in the bathroom. It's about as private as it's gonna get right now.

"A year." You don't understand I had to lie. If I said I only knew him for a week she would flip out.

She narrows her eyes, eyebrows furrow. "Be careful. He may seem charming, but I get the impression he could flip a switch and become something else. I don't wanna have to cut a bitch for my baby sis. But he's crazy about you– like he'll kill somebody over you." Sometimes Mackayla could be too intuitive.

"So you like him?" I raise both brows in anticipation of her answer. Jericho had a way of charming people's pants off. I know from experience.

"I didn't say that."

I sigh. "So you don't like him?"

"Didn't say that either," she replied and left the bathroom. I followed her out to see Chase and Jericho laughing hysterically. "Well Chase likes him. They practically got a bromance thing goin' on." I shake my head.

He practically forced his way into my life and my heart.

What am I going to do with you, Jericho?

Marry him!!! My not so sober conscious parades.
