"What's with this tension I'm sensing here?" Sydney asked, glancing at Cecil, who was sprawled out across Remy's bed, and then Remy, who was sitting in his desk chair, his legs folded up onto the seat. He knew it made him look tiny, but it was his favorite position to read in since he could keep his book open on his knees.

Cecil and his friendship had begun about three weeks before, and Remy was surprise to realize how comfortable he had become around the older male. It was not uncommon for the three of them to be like this, all cooped up in Remy's room with the occasional visit from a giggling Atticus. Remy found he liked having another friend. Cecil's smile had become an important part of Remy's day. It was terrifying, but every time he considered cutting Cecil from his life to keep himself from hurting in the future, his eyes met those pale green ones, he couldn't imagine not seeing them every day.

"No tension," Remy said, and Cecil scoffed from the bed, rolling over so he was on his stomach. "Problem?" His eyes moved from Sydney to Remy and he grinned, showing all of his teeth.

"You're such a pain in my ass," Cecil said, and Remy just looked at him with a blank expression, thinking about how nice it would be to smile back.

"I'm sure he wants you to be a pain in his ass," Sydney mumbled under his breath and Remy's eyes widened before narrowing in a glare that was directed at his best friend. Cecil snickered loudly, and then fell silent.

When Remy had gotten home from his appointment that afternoon, he had exactly twenty minutes to himself before Cecil was knocking on his front door, greeting Atticus, and then entering his bedroom without a word. They had spoken for twenty or so minutes and Sydney was pushing open the door and joining them.

"We're just friends," Remy assured and Sydney rolled his eyes as if he didn't believe it. The blonde looked at Cecil then, as if waiting for him to contradict the short boy, but Remy sent Cecil a glance that had the boy sighing and dropping his shoulders.

"As much as I would like to brag about something as wonderful as getting out of Remy's friend zone, that is something that I am not yet able to do," was the silver haired boy response, somehow pleasing and annoying both of the boys he was addressing. Sydney sighed, crossing his arms and leaning back against the wall.

"You know, I don't think that it's fair that I have to stand".

"Get here first," Cecil said, rolling over onto his back again. His head was resting just over the foot of the bed, causing his silver hair to fall off his forward and hang towards the ground. It looked longer this way, but Remy didn't let his eyes linger too long. Every time he had done it before, Cecil's eyes had opened and caught him.

"Well I was busy".

"Doing?" Remy asked. It was impossible to read with both of them around, demanding his constant attention, so he snapped his novel closed and set it on his desk, making sure it was parallel with the edge.

"Talking to a girl," Sydney said with a shrug and Remy's eyebrows raised.

"What girl was at the pool today?" Cecil asked. Prior coming to Remy's they had both been at the pool; Cecil to teach, and Sydney to take Atticus to his lesson.

"Not at the pool," Sydney corrected. "Atticus was hungry after swimming so we went to Lenard's, you know, the diner downtown". Slowly, Cecil rolled back over onto his stomach.

"What was the name of the girl you talked to," Cecil said, his voice strange and Remy glanced at him in surprise.

"Caroline Olsen," Sydney said, dreamily. It was quiet for three counts before Cecil burst out laughing, curling in on himself and clutching his stomach. Sydney looked alarmed. "What is it?"

"You've been played, my friend," Cecil said, chuckling weekly and stretching out and absently running his hands over his stomach, smoothing out the fabric of his shirt. "You see, when Caroline is working, she flirts with any young man who comes in, then, at the end of the week, she takes all of the money, and treats whatever sorry fucker is dating her to dinner. And then... then she does her thing".

"Her thing?" Remy couldn't help but ask, and Cecil sighed loudly.

"Caroline Olsen is what some like to call a sex addict". Sydney looked very intrigued and Cecil just shook his head. "I know what you're thinking, and it's not as great as it sounds. Yeah, you get to have sex, all the time, but you have to have sex all the time. You can't just go out to eat without having sex in either the bathroom or the car. It was fucking annoying".

"How do you know all of this?" Sydney demanded and Cecil covered his face with his hands.

"Because I dated her for a year and a half, and I was on the receiving end of many of those dinners. Not anymore though. Sadly, she dumped me, even though I should have dumped her months ago. God. Jordan and Carter and I got coffee once at the beginning of the summer after her and I broke up and they let me complain about her for hours. All she ever wanted me to do was spend time with her, and when I didn't, she would call me and wake me up in the middle of the night with some stupid excuse. Once, she even threw herself down the stairs and broke her ankle just so I would come and get her. Fuck, I used to get so drunk when we were together. Caroline's not someone you can handle sober". Cecil snapped his fingers quickly. "Towards the end of our relationship, I could only deal with her when I was completely, out of my mind stoned. I actually think that's one of the reasons why she dumped me. Anyways, when she did dump me, she made me believe that I was worthless and that I'd never get anyone as good as her ever again, and then I got sad, and I dyed my hair this color".

The room was silent for a moment and then Sydney cleared his throat. "Wow"

Remy hasn't been about to say anything, but if he had, he was sure it wouldn't have been "Wow".

"Sorry," Cecil said, his voice sounding dry. "I still get a bit upset about it. It's hard to talk about. Not because I miss her anymore, but because I feel like I wasted such a huge portion of my life with Caroline Olsen".

"She's hot though".

"Date her sister. Sarah. Just as pretty, but very low maintenance. She's a year younger than us, I think. Although... you guys are Springfielders, right?" Cecil rolled over again and his eyes met Remy's. He grinned. "You have to be. I know you didn't go to school with me. I would have remembered someone that beautiful".

"Stop hitting on him and get to the point already, would you?" Sydney demanded and Cecil nodded.

"Alright, Alright. So, you know Carmen Huego? He would be your age, Sydney. He dropped from Valley and moved to Springfield for his senior year? He's dating that... whatever his name is now? The black haired kid who plays the piano like Ashley solves a math problem".

"Huh?" Remy asked and Cecil shook his head quickly.

"Ignore that last bit. Do you know who I'm talking about?"

"I do," Sydney said. "The blonde kid, right. Not my blonde, but like... white blonde. Played the violin?"

"Yeah, him. His older brother is dating Sarah Olsen now. Apparently Keith Huego took Sarah from Emerson Kane, who took Caroline from me. Small world". Cecil smiled then, his eyes moving to Remy. "Say something".

"Why do I need to have an opinion on this?" Remy asked and Cecil smiled.

"Because," The silver haired boy began, "you haven't said anything in awhile and I miss your beautiful voice". Remy's eyes rolled and he glanced at Sydney, who smiled and winked at him. "Sydney, did you know that Remy refuses to come and meet my other friends. I tell him that he's special to me, and I tell my friends that he's special to me, and they want to meet him, but he doesn't want to meet then".

"That's because every time you talk to me about your other friends, they're getting piss drunk, and I'm not interested in doing that," Remy argued and Sydney raised his eyebrows as Cecil groaned.

"Yes, they drink a lot, but they know how to do other things too. I'll make sure that they're all sober wherever we go. Zane will be the most difficult one to keep from drinking, but if he knows it's important to me that he takes a night off, he will. The other two will be fine. Kyle is like me, he takes his life more seriously now and wants to act like an adult, and Oliver prefers to be stoned than drunk, so we have no issues there," Cecil finished with a grin and Remy just shot him a look. "He won't be stoned when we go either. No one will be altered in any way".

"I still don't want to meet them," Remy said, dropping his eyes and Cecil scoffed.

"Why not, Remy. They're not bad people".

"I never said they were," he shot back quickly, "I'm just not good with people in general".

"Aww," Sydney chimed in. "You're worried about them not liking you". The truth made Remy scowl, and Cecil look incredibly pleased.

"I'm not-" Remy cut of, looking away from both of them. "I know that they won't like me because people don't like me".

"I like you-" Cecil cut in and Remy just waved him off.

"You're some weird phenomenon," Remy explained and Cecil let out a startled laugh. "I'm serious though, people don't like me. I'm small and I'm rude and I don't like people, so why would people like me".

"You're pretty," was Cecil's argument, and despite himself, Remy flushed. "And you're smart, and funny, and you have interesting things to say. I like you a lot, Remy. They will too".

"Jesus, stop flirting with him," Sydney interrupted. "It makes me uncomfortable".

Remy rolled his eyes and Cecil sighed. "I still don't think-" The door opened and Remy cut off, looking over in surprise as Atticus bound in the room and launched himself onto the bed next to Cecil. Remy watched as he miscalculated and almost fell to the floor, but Cecil caught him with fast hands, steadying him on the mattress.

"Mr. Cecil!"

"Hey buddy". Cecil smiled. "What's up".

"I want to go get ice cream". Atticus looked at Remy hopefully then, and both Sydney and Cecil laughed as they watched Remy attempt to maintain his hard expression but failed miserably. He could never say no to his brother, especially not when he looked at him like that.

"Are we going to get ice cream then?" Cecil asked, looking up at Remy as well. Remy shot Sydney a look at his friend just nodded.

"I don't mind. I like ice cream".

"Alright," Remy said, unfolding his legs and standing from the chair. "Let's go get ice cream".

Atticus jumped off the bed, running over and gripping Sydney's hand and attempting to pull him from the room. Reluctantly, Sydney followed with a little laugh, throwing a glance over his shoulder to Remy and Cecil.

Cecil rose from the bed, but instead of going to the door, he went to stand in front of Remy, so close the short boy had to tilt his head back to meet his eyes. "Please, Rem. Just come out with us once".

"I'm different, Clarke. They won't like me, I already know it".

Cecil's eyes rolled, and then one of his hands gently reached out and cupped his face, his thumb brushing over his cheek. Over the past couple of weeks, it became known to Remy that Cecil was naturally a physical person. Remy had relaxed to it some after mental preparation, but once and awhile it still caught him off guard.

"Clarke-"

"Come on. I'm just asking for one night. If you decide that you don't like them, we never have to hang out with them again, but I promise that the issue won't be them not liking you. As I said, you're important to me, Rem, and they will see that, and like you for it," Cecil claimed, and Remy sighed. Slowly, Cecil's hand dropped.

"What would we be doing?" Remy asked, crossing his arms in front of his chest.

"Whatever you'd like to do. I want to make you comfortable".

Remy opened his mouth to tell him that wasn't necessary, but Sydney interrupted from the doorway, where he was standing with Atticus still clutching his hand, looking impatient. "Go bowling," he told Cecil and Remy's teeth sunk into his lip. "Remy can't resist bowling".

Cecil looked back down at him in surprise and Remy nodded slowly. A grin spread across the tall boy's face. "Bowling it is".

A/N Remy likes to bowl. Another thing for Cecil to add to his quirky list about him.
