kiara

Kiara was in an unusual, but frequently occurring gloomy mood today. Having nothing significant to do, the girl decided on being productive. She got up, changing into a pink tight fitting sports bra and slipping a loose jumper on top of it.

She had read a quote a few hours earlier which took part in her desolate frame of mind today.

{ only enemies speak the truth; friends and lovers lie endlessly, caught in the web of duty. ~ Stephen King }

Stephen king had always been one of her favourite authors along with too many more to count, of course. The dainty girl made her way down the apartment building, deciding a run will most likely clear her head a little. She had been sitting on her computer all day making mood boards for pointless things.

All the times Xavier had called her pathetic for being sensitive, and/or a crybaby came running back to her for the umpteenth time this morning. She couldn't decide if it was because of the grey humid weather or her developing feelings for the vexatious boy.

She hadn't really thought anything of their increased amount of moments together since last month or the stolen kisses. More like hardcore makeout sessions, her conscience voiced out. The girl huffed out a breath, putting her playlist on shuffle as she began running through the busy streets of Georgia.

She observed the herds of people around her, wondering if they are happier or more sorrowful than her today. She scolded herself mentally, knowing that humans were the best at wearing contented masks when they were tearing down on the inside. She focused back on her run, huffing in the slightly cool breeze as the loud beats of frank ocean played in her ear drums.

Kiara had stayed up until 4 am last night, consoling Tia for her recent break up, then being forced to give Tia a detailed explanation of what had been going on between Xavier and herself. Her friend, being the hopeless romantic she is, went on a stupidly long rant about how they were falling in love and how the concept of enemies to lovers had been one of her favourites to read.

By the end of her extremely short and sweaty run, Kia concluded that her witch of a friend had put thoughts into her head. She reassured herself that didn't really develop feelings for the boy and just had a feeling of attraction towards him, along with immense amount of hate.

She gathered that having feelings for someone who had degraded her and made her feel inferior to others the past few months was actually pathetic. The girl was doing her best at avoiding him to get rid of any sense of minuscule feelings she may have for him.

It had been overall four days since she had conversed with the stinker. She grinned at the childish nickname and made her way to the elevator.

xavier

Xavier dropped the small bud of his finished cigarette into a bush. A feeling of contentment rushed through him as he watched the splatter of grey ashes cover tiny petals of a light pink flower.

"This is a no smoking area!" a kiddish, almost shy voice squeaked from behind him in an Australian accent. He turned around, lowering his gaze to meet the ones of a little girl with aqua eyes and strawberry blonde hair tugged into two long pigtails. She looked no more than eight years old.

The lean boy wondered why she even knew what the word smoking means but decided not to question it. "Are you lost, kid?" He said the last word with a small grimace. Since he was younger, he hated children. The boy felt like all they did was cry and whine until they got attention. He often compared them to girls.

The girl's fierce eyes gazed up at him, her hand extending to a circular metal sign at the corner of the park. He read the bold words; No Smoking. "I stopped minutes ago, you're just wasting your time." He replied to her gesture in a contained tone, trying not to show annoyance for the little creature.

"Good, my name's Aspen!" The blonde girl said cheerfully as she made her way towards the bench where he was previously sitting. The girl stood up on the brown bench, now being around the height of his shoulder.

Xavier looked at her hand and then back at her, "Okay." He finished the conversation, weirded out by the girl. He concluded that the best option was to walk away so he made his way to the opposite side of the park.

"Hey! You didn't even introduce yourself!" He heard small pattering behind him, making him sigh in irritation. He turned around with a sharp movement, "What the fuck do you want?" He knew that using crude words around kids was bad, but hell he did not care right now. This girl was getting on his nerves. Her fierce personality resembled a feisty brunette.

A brunette who he had been trying to get out of his mind the past few days.

Kiara avoiding him like plaque did not help his case at all. He thought playing a bit with her would cause nobody harm. Nobody but her, he thought.

The first few days after bumping into Kiara, he had clearly been infatuated with her. He couldn't seem to figure her out and she didn't bother giving him the time of the day to do so.

The number of people who knew him well was countable on one hand. He never cared enough for socialising and learning society's politeness norms. But, for the people who did know him well enough, knew that one of his favourite hobbies was observing others and what makes them act the way they do.

The boy knew that he was no professional but he had almost mastered the job. It took him merely few minutes to figure people out by the way they dress, their body language and how they talk.

He knew most of the girls who throw themselves at him have been through mental abuse in a relationship or problems at home. He knew that a bunch of his friends faced peer/family pressure. He knew that a bunch of the rebellious kids, including himself, were tired of seeking validation so they tried to be different to gain more attention.

When he looked at Kiara, she seemed more neutral than others. Not happy, not unhappy, just there. He didn't realise when the infatuation with the girl turned into extreme hatred or when the wanting to figure her out turned into ruining her college experience.

He didn't like it when others ruined his routine and thats all she ever did. If someone asked the boy if he regretted anything or would take back anything which he did to her, he would simply reply with no.

He was brought back to consciousness by the short girl pulling on his jeans. "My mommy says "fuck" is a bad word." Aspen whispered as if she was telling a secret.

He shook his leg, trying to get her away and making sure nobody heard her say the profanity out loud. A relieved sigh escaped his lips when he saw the girl waving at him and running back to an older version of herself. He assumed the middle aged woman to be her mom as they looked completely alike. He lit up another cig, knowing they were bad for him and made his way out of the park.

A/N: idk what this chapter is tbh its more like a filler because i thought that i didn't really explain their personalities and i was also trying a more sophisticated and better way of writing so idk if it was nice or not.

i just wrote this so people can actually understand the mcs instead of just smut scenes which are clearly my fav ones to write lmao
