"BATMAN IS OVERRATED. Wonder Woman is the really badass," Tim told me Monday afternoon at the hospital.

I shook my head,"Nope. It's defiently Aquaman."

Tim rolled his eyes,"You are only saying that because he's hot."

I laughed,"I'm serious. Aquaman is a literal king, and he can breathe underwater!"

"And? Wonder Woman is freaking immortal! She can deflect bullets and she went through a freaking building!" Tim argued as the nurse came in with Tim's dinner.

"Good evening, Tim. I brought you dinner," Nurse Shelia told Tim, setting the plate on the table connected to the bed.

It was hamburger steak, mashed potatoes, gravy, corn, and chocolate pudding.

"Thank you," Tim replied before the nurse left. He frowned as he stabbed his corn with his fork.

"What's wrong? Do you not like tonight's dinner?" I asked him, making him look over at me.

"No, it's fine. I just have to eat dinner by myself, again," Tim admitted, sadly.

"Hey, you aren't by yourself. I'm here with you," I replied with a smile.

He shrugged,"No offense, but you aren't my parents. You're awesome, but I rather have dinner with my Mom and Dad."

I grabbed a hold of his hand, and he gave me a sad smile.

"I understand. Do you want to talk about something else?" I asked him.

He shrugged, and I asked,"Isn't your birthday coming up?"

Tim nodded with a smile,"Yes. I'll be eleven."

"Eleven? Wow!" I exclaimed before adding,"I'm gonna have to get you something special!"

"You don't have to buy me anything. You do enough," Tim replied, grabbing his book of his nightstand table.

"Of course I'm going to buy you something. You are one of my best friends," I explained before saying,"Now if I get you an Aquaman action figure, would you be mad at me?" He laughed; a true laugh.

Tim shook his head,"No Aquaman. Now if you get me Wonder Woman, you might be my favorite person."

I fake gasped,"I'm not your favorite person?"

"Alec is number one, but you are at number two," Tim said quickly.

"How is Alec at number one?" I asked, scrunching my eyebrows together in confusion.

"He just is," Tim told me with a shrug.

I shook my head,"No can do, buddy. I'm going to be your favorite. Just you wait, I got something up my sleeve for your birthday."

Tim nodded as he yawned. His eyelids were getting droopy, and I knew he was about to pass out.

"I'll let you get some rest. I'll come see you tomorrow, okay!" I asked him, giving him a squeeze on his hand.

He nodded, and I left the room, shutting the door behind me. As soon as the door shut behind me, I took off looking for Alec.

I found him playing dolls with a little girl. Her mother, smiling, sat in a waiting chair in the playroom.

"Hey, Alec, can I talk with you for a moment?" I asked him, making him look up at me.

"Yeah, give me a sec," he replied before looking back at the little girl.

I stood outside of the playroom, and after a few minutes, Alec made his way to me.

"What's up?" He asked, brushing his hair over out of his face.

"Tim's birthday is coming up, and we need to do something really special," I told him, clasping my hands together.

He nodded,"Okay. But have you thought about his rude ass parents?"

I furrowed my eyebrows,"Why would his parents be a problem?"

Alec cleared his throat before saying,"Tim's parents are douchebags. His father is a FBI Agent, and his mother is a housewife. They only come visit Tim for his birthday and holidays. Other than that, they FaceTime him every other day.

And when they are here, they try and act like they have been there with him every day since he has been diagnosed. They hate the idea of other people looking out for him."

"So they basically act like they don't have a son?" I asked as my heart broke for Tim.

Alec nodded,"I actually confronted them once, but it didn't do no good. They just told me that Tim is their son not mine, and I needed to mind my own damn business."

Some parents do not need to be parents. Tim deserves better parents.

"Even a more reason to throw him a small party. We'll invite his friends, and we can have it in the courtyard," I replied with a smile.

"Campbell, you are playing with fire. If Tim's parents find out that you threw him a party, they will get your ass."

"Let them. That little boy deserves a party. I'm gonna give it to him, and nobody is gonna stop me."

Before Alec could say anything else, a male voice yelled,"Alec?! Yo!"

I looked past Alec to see a teenager boy with brown hair and brown eyes coming our way with a teenage girl beside him. The girl had curly light brown hair and bright blue eyes. The guy's arm was wrapped around her shoulders.

Definitely a couple.

"Hey, what are you guys doing here?" Alec asked, giving the guy a handshake.

"We are getting milkshakes, and we wondered if you wanted to come," the girl answered.

"Yeah, sure," Alec replied with a nod. The guy looked over at me, and he smirked.

"Who is your little friend?" The guy asked Alec.

"Guys, this is Campbell, my volunteer buddy. Campbell, this is Dean and Evie, my best friends," Alec introduced us to each other. I waved, and Dean nodded.

"It's nice to meet you," Evie told me with a warm smile.

"Nice to meet you, too," I replied, softly.

"I haven't seen you talk to a girl, besides Evie, ever since Peyton," Dean said, making Evie hit his chest lightly.

Who's Peyton?

"Dean," Evie hissed.

"Sorry, man," Dean instantly apologized.

I looked at Alec for his response, but he just shrugged.

"Are we getting milkshakes or not?" Alec asked, changing the subject.

They nodded, and I said,"We will just over the details about Tim's birthday party later."

Alec nodded and asked,"Do you want to get milkshakes with us?"

Evie looked hopeful, and Dean just kept looking me up and down.

I shook my head,"I can't. I have to study for my Home Ed test."

Alec sighed,"Okay. I'll see you tomorrow."

I smiled,"See you tomorrow."

I walked away from them, and I headed to the restroom. Evie and Dean seem nice, and I didn't lie when I said I had a Home Ed test tomorrow.

I walked into the women's restroom, and I walked into a stall. I did my business then left the stall. Washing my hands, I thought about things we could do for Tim's birthday.

After I finished in the restroom, I walked out of the door. When I turned to go to the elevators, I ran into Dean.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to run into you," I apologized to him.

He waved it off,"It's totally fine. I was actually going to the restroom myself."

I nodded, and I started walking passed him when he grabbed my ass. My eyes widen in shock, and my breath hitched.

"What the hell?" I asked him, turning around to face him.

"What?" He asked, acting innocent.

"You grabbed my ass," I accused, pointing my finger at him.

He shrugged,"And? You have a fine ass."

I think I'm going to vomit.

"That doesn't mean you get to touch it! If you ever put your hands on me again, you will have my brothers to deal with," I replied, trying not to sound shaky.

"I'm just giving you a compliment," Dean remarked with a smirk.

"And I'm just warning you. Just wait til I tell Alec that is best friend is a freaking pervert."

"Do you really think he's going to believe you? Alec and I have been friends for years," Dean said, taking a couple steps towards me. I backed up until my back hit the wall, shaking. Dean walked up to me.

He chuckled, humorlessly,"Let's just keep this a secret between me and you. I mean, it's not like anybody is gonna believe you anyways."

And with that he walked away, and I released a breath I didn't realize I was holding. I quickly walked from the restroom. My hands were shaking, and I felt tears making their way to my eyes.

I walked into the elevator, and thank goodness nobody was in there. I pressed the floor one button, and I leaned against the wall, taking deep breaths.

I can't believe that just happened. Dean is a freaking perv, and he has a girlfriend for crying out loud!

The elevator dinged, and the doors slid open. I walked out of the elevator, and I walked out of the lobby doors. When I rounded the corner, I ran into somebody else, making me flinch once more.

I looked up to Brent. His face dropped when he saw my expression on my face.

"Campbell, what's wrong?" Brent asked, suddenly.

"I-..." I stuttered, trying to form words.

"You're shaking. What happened?" Brent asked, concern laced in his voice.

"Alec's friend, Dean, grabbed my ass," I told him as tears leaked out of my eyes.

A flash of anger went through Brent's face, and next thing I knew, he was striding towards the lobby doors.

"No, Brent, please don't," I begged, grabbing ahold of his hand.

"Campbell, he touched you without your consent! That is not right!" Brent exclaimed, opening the lobby door.

"Please, wait-!" I said, trying to hold my grip on him, but it wasn't working.

Who knew this boy was so strong?

Brent looked around for Dean, and I let go of his arm. I saw Dean walking out of the elevator with a phone in his hands.

My eyes widen, and Brent must have seen him, too, because he started walking over to him before I could grab him.

"No, Brent!" I exclaimed, but it was too late.

Brent went straight up to Dean and hit him, knocking the phone out of Dean's hands.

"What the hell, man?" Dean asked, holding his jaw.

"You think it's okay to grab a girl's ass?" Brent asked him, pushing him away.

"That stupid bi-" Dean started, but Brent hit him again, making Dean fall over onto the ground.

Then Brent was on top of Dean, hitting him every chance he got.

"Brent, stop!" I yelled, grabbing Brent's arm that was about to strike Dean.

Brent looked up at me, and he relaxed. He was getting off of Dean when two cops came running around the corner.

My eyes widen, and Brent cursed underneath his breath.

"Come with us, boy," One of the guards said, grabbing ahold of Brent's upper arm.

"He assaulted her, and you guys are going to take me away? How does that make any sense?" Brent asked them as they put handcuffs on him.

"Brent, oh my gosh," I said before covering my mouth.

"It's okay, Campbell. Just call my parents, okay? Explain the situation," Brent said as the cops helped him get all the way up.

"All of this is my fault. I'm so sorry," I apologized.

"None of this is your fault. It's this douchebag's fault. I'll be out of here in no time. Just call my parents," Brent said one more time before the cop pushed him around the corner.

The other cop was examining Dean who had a nose bleed. I'm pretty sure his nose is broke.

I pulled my phone from my pocket, and I dialed Lisa's number.

"Hey, Campbell. I actually have an important question to ask y-..." Lisa said, picking up on the first ring.

"Brent just got arrested," I blurted out, pushing hair behind my ear.

"WHAT?"
