"I fucking hate you" Lynnex states with crossed arms, her cheeks still pink from my joke outside

I laugh as we make our way towards our lockers.

"Please, your life would be boring without me" I joke

She remain silent as we stop in front of the row of lockers but I notice the corner or her lips tilt up.

She can't stay mad at me no matter how hard she tries.

Well there was that one time that she ignored me for two days when I accidentally got pastry dough in her hair.

We don't talk about it.

I type in my locker code and swing open the metal compartment, retrieving my backpack before shutting it again.

Lynnex and I go to walk towards our first period class only to be stopped by someone yelling out my name.

"Wilder!" They yell authoritatively

Ugh.

I groan with annoyance before turning around to face the desperate adult.

He releases a sigh of relief that he caught me before using a hand to slick his hair back.

I almost gag at the sight of his greasy hair.

What is so hard about taking care of your hygiene that most guys cannot understand?!

"What do you want, Mr. Rejected?" I ask the twenty two year old man

He glares at me once the nickname leaves my lips.

"How's you sister?" He asks

I roll my eyes at him.

"Haley is out of town" I answer, playing dumb

He takes a step closer to me when he notices a random teacher watching us with a curious facial expression.

"The other sister" he states emotionlessly

I cross my arms at him, quickly growing bored of this conversation.

"She's happily engaged to Aurelia" I inform him, putting emphasis on the word 'happily'

He is obviously upset by this as he rolls his eyes with a disgusted facial expression.

"I bet Aurelia forced her to accept the ring" he says

I groan loudly, wanting to get to class before I'm late.

I hate Lynnex's mother, but Lynnex is only sixteen so the cruel woman still legally has control over her.

"Hanna proposed to her," I explain with an eye roll

He is obviously shocked by this judging by his 'fish out of water' facial expression.

Idiot.

He goes to make up a shitty excuse only for me to quickly cut him off.

"Listen Chadley, Its been six years and she still hasn't came back to you like you thought she would," I begin

His face contorts into one of shock, obviously not expecting me to stand up to him.

"Hanna plans on marrying Aurelia, meaning that she does not care about you, she has not cared about you for years," I say putting emphasis on the word 'years'

I ignore some of the curious stares from onlookers who are hanging out in the hallway.

"You only applied for a job at this school because you knew that I would be attending it, you have interrogated me every single day for three months now," I continue, speeding up since my best friend and I are about to be late to class

"If you continue to interrogate me I am going to complain to my parents, who will then complain to the school," I pause as a thought crosses my mind

"Or handle you personally, I don't really care which" I say, giving him a petty smile before turning on my heel and making my way towards first period

Ugh.

Hanna couldn't have met Aurelia earlier?!

I swear that I am going to give him a black eye if he stops me in the hallway one more time.

I enter the classroom just as the bell rings, making my way towards an empty lab desk.

I take a seat in my metal chair as I drown out every one around me, too heated to even think clearly.

I hear the golden haired girl take a seat beside me.

She takes a deep breath before carefully grabbing my hand and holding it in hers.

I almost yank my hand out of hers because of the immense tingles that crawl their way up my arm.

What the fuck?

What is going on with my arm?

I glance down at my arm and furrow my eyebrows.

"Calm down," my best friend whispers

I shift my gaze up from my tingling arm and towards her sparkling brown eyes, getting lost in them for a moment before her words register in my mind.

"This is the only class that we have together and I don't want you to spend the entirety of it upset over what a jealous prick who hasn't grown up since high school said" she tells me

I smile at her description of the desperate teacher.

I go to thank her only to be cut off by our teacher beginning class.

I guess it's time to learn now.

-

"I want everyone to participate in this spelling bee," the teacher says as she paces the floor in front of us

She brought us down to the gym a few minutes ago so that we wouldn't break anything when we hit her with a dodgeball.

"I just want to see where you guys are at mentally" she states

Our teacher quickly makes her way down the line of high school students, rolling her eyes at the ones who couldn't spell simple words such as 'because' or 'mitochondria'.

She smirks evilly at me since she knows that it takes a lot of work to stump me.

"Isabella, spell redamancy" she orders

I smile when I notice that this word was in one of my mom's books.

"R-e-d-a-m-a-n-c-y" I spell out

The teacher chuckles as she tosses the ball towards me.

The other students in line suddenly perk up at the idea of our teacher getting hit with a ball.

"Aim below to face" she warns me

I smirk before throwing the dodgeball and having it hit her in her mid section.

Ouch.

She takes a few moments to recover before turning together Lynnex with another evil smirk.

"Lynnex, spell mediocrity"

Wow.

Sure, give her an easy one.

I scoff which causes my best friend to smile.

"M-e-d-i-o-c-r-i-t-y" the golden haired girl confidently spells out

Our teacher throws the dodgeball towards the golden haired girl which makes me smile at the murderous look in my best friend's eyes.

Lynnex has a bunch of internalized anger, mainly towards her parents.

No surprise there.

I asked her if she wanted to take a boxing class with me but she declined.

I am kind of worried that one day all of that anger is going to release itself in a very unhealthy way.

The brown eyed girl adjusts her grip onto the ball before hurling it at the teachers knees.

My hand finds its way to my mouth in shock as everyone around us begins to burst into stomach aching laughter.

Today is going to be a very long day for our teacher, without a doubt.

-

Barely ten minutes go by before everyone else is out, some not even trying.

"We now have two players left, Lynnex and Isabella," she announces

She motions with her hands for us to take a step forward.

"Winner gets to hit me one last time with this dodgeball and receives a free one hundred for the week" She tells us

Some students who are sitting on the floor groan probably wanting the one hundred.

"You better be prepared to make me an entire steak dinner" my best friend whispers from beside me as the teacher goes on about something

I chuckle turning to face the smirking golden haired girl.

"As if, you should be prepared to make me a red velvet cake" I whisper back

I haven't had a red velvet cake in so long, but Lynnex's cakes a literally to die for.

"I'll give you a different set of red cakes" she teases, making me laugh

"Says the bottom" I say, knowing her reaction

She gently slaps my shoulder, not wanting the teacher to notice us talking in the middle of her speech about 'safety'.

"I am not a bottom!" She states with pink cheeks

I smirk leaning over so that I am closer towards her ear.

"Yet you're always under me in bed" I tease

I pull away and almost laugh at her facial expression.

Her jaw is slacked with shock while her cheeks remain stained pink.

I know that my best friend is a switch, or at least that is what she says she is, but I swear that she is a bottom.

She just gives me bottom vibes.

"Isabella," the teacher calls out, catching my attention

"Spell aromatherapy" she tells me

Oh, that's an easy one.

"A-r-o-m-a-t-h-e-r-a-p-y" I spell out

She nods before turning her attention towards a still stunned Lynnex.

I chuckle as I bring my finger up to close her mouth only for her jaw to drop again when I remove my finger.

I wonder what is going on inside of her mind.

"Lynnex, spell justification" the teacher says

The golden haired girl shakes herself out of her daydream and turns to face our curiously waiting teacher

"Um- j-u-s-t-i-f-i-c-a-t-i-n" she distractedly spells

My eyes widen in shock.

That was such an easy word.

Lynnex knows that that was an easy word!

What has her so distracted that she cannot get a simple word like that?!

The teacher is shocked by this too judging by the wide eyed expression that she gives the golden haired girl.

"I-I'm sorry, but that's incorrect" she tells the girl

Lynnex does not seem to be paying attention though.

Her eyes are dilated and slightly glazed over, her thighs are squeezed together and she is staring down at her nervously fidgeting hands.

I don't think that I have ever seen her this distracted before.

"Isabella-" she goes to say only for me to cut her off

"J-u-s-t-i-f-i-c-a-t-i-o-n" I quickly spell out, not taking my eyes off of my best friend

I go to ask her what's wrong but she begins to walk out of the gym before I get the chance to.

What the-

I follow after her, not too sure what's going on.

Did I just break my best friend?
