Everly

Cole quickly opened the door of his BMW for me and ran to the driver's side. The heater was on full blast and the seat warmer was turned on. He furiously typed in the phone and said, "We are leaving this area."

"Why? What about Elliot?" I asked, hesitant to leave him in the area by himself.

"We are not going far, we will wait in the nearest fast food joint for him." He comforted. "He will be good." As he put on his seat belt and patiently waited for me to put on mine. He stepped on the gas as he quickly pulled out from that creepy place.

"Why are we in a hurry?"

"We bumped into the wrong guy, Everly." He said shaking his head. "The one we were suppose to avoid was the one we met. Elliot will kill me, next."

"What's wrong with that guy?"

"He is the one holding Elliot's down, he is the leader of this weird gang."

My mouth formed an 'O' shape as I turned to look at him. "You did not tell Elliot, did you? He will be worried."

"I just told him we are going to drive thru because you are hungry. I don't want to worry him and have him beaten up by some dude for not concentrating."

"It's best if we don't tell him." I said.

"How long do we keep it away from him though? If he find out, he will be really mad and you have never seen his angry side before, have you otherwise I don't think a girl like you would want to be with him."

"What do you mean by a girl like me?"

"You are someone who seem fragile like a vase and Elliot he is a weapon, that can shatter you if he wants to, some girls are like shield, no matter how much Elliot try to push them away, they won't care."

"I am not fragile." I pointed out.

"You are strong, but for Elliot you are like vase which is why he is being as gentle as he can be with you. You are important to him, I hope you know that."

"He is important for me, too."

"I know. He was very nervous about having you here, tonight."

"I shouldn't have insisted him, I just wanted to support him and not make things worse for him."

"I know."

"Please don't tell him about today." I said to Cole.

"I won't." He said, but quickly added. "Unless he ask."

I sighed, he pulled in front of a drive thru and asked if I wanted anything, I declined, politely, but he ordered somethings for me. As he chew on his burger and I sip the apple juice he said,

"Tell me about yourself."

"What you want to know?" I asked.

"How did you steal Elliot's heart? I thought he was heartless."

"I really don't know, myself. We never got a chance to speak about when we had feelings for each other."

"I see, Elliot is very personal about his feelings. He does not share much of how he feels and it seems like you are the same."

"What is the point of sharing how you feel with people who doesn't really care about you?"

"That's true, but bottling feelings is bad because one day that bottle will burst and explode into places, that you never expected to reach and hurt you more than you can imagine."

"We are in the stage of learning to trust each other and sharing things in hope of giving comfort to each other."

"That's perfect, it seems like you two are doing a good job."

"I hope so. I want us to work out."

"I like your dedication." He said, impressed as he sipped his drink.

I don't know if he was being sarcastic or being serious with his comment. We sat in the parking lot for quite a long while, he is very talkative and knows how to hold conversation. When my phone rang and I saw his name, I was relieved and worried at the same time.

"baby, are you okay?" Was the first thing he asked me.

"Yes." I said.

"Tell Cole to drive to your place, I am coming over to your place."

"Uh, okay?" I said.

"Give the phone to Cole." He said.

Cole only spoke three words in their conversation. It was either, "Yes, No or okay."

Cole passed me the phone back and said Elliot is on loud speaker and wanted to talk to me.

"Hello?" I answered.

"Baby, I forgot to ask if you met anyone there, today?"

"No." I said as I looked at Elliot who looked back at me, confused.

"Are you sure?" He asked.

"Yes." I said. "Should I be meeting someone?"

"No." He said. "Baby, I will see you soon. Stay warm."

"Take care." I said to him as we ended the call.

"I assume you just lied." He said.

"About what?" I pretended.

"You should try to work on learning to lie, you are so easy to figure out."

I opened my mouth to defend myself, but nothing came out from my mouth. I told him the direction to my place. Elliot was already waiting for us as we pulled the car, his face was flushed and he have a busted lip.

"Are you okay?" I ran to him as I looked for any more injury.

"I'm fine. Are you?" He asked and I nodded my head.

Cole came and stood beside me, "Can we go in? It's so cold here."

I quickly unlock the door and left my boot outside and walked in turning the light on.

"Much better." Cole muttered as I see him rubbing his hand together. I took off my jacket and hang it to dry due to the snow.

I pulled Elliot with me to help him disinfect his injury.

"I may start getting use to these treatments after every fight."

"I don't mind, but I wish you could figure out way to stop fighting."

"I know. I told them I am off to England for a while."

"Did they buy the story?"

"Yea, a little." He said.

I sighed in relieved, "but we have to look for a permanent solution to this problem." I said.

"I know." He said.

"Are you having sleepover here?" Cole asked, interrupting us. "I am getting lazy now."

"I am having sleepover, you can go home." Elliot shooed Cole away.

"Why can't I?"

"It's snowing, you can stay in the guest room if you want." I offered.

"That is highly appreciated." Cole said, "where is it?"

"Last room, upstairs to your right."

"He can go home." Elliot complained.

"It's snowing." I pointed out and he kept silent and then he looked out seeing the flurries turning into snow.

"Okay." He said, "sorry, I thought it was flurries."

"No worries." Cole said. "I won't be disturbing you guys." He winked.

"There is a washroom in the room and toiletries is in the cabinet."

"Thanks, love." Cole called out and Elliot rolled his eyes.

"I have work tomorrow." I reminded him.

"What time?"

"Can you do me a favour?" I asked. "While I am at work?"

"Depend." He said.

"Sleep in late and enjoy your Saturday."

"That is your favour?"

"You need break."

"For what?"

"From everything, especially this." I pointed to his injury.

"I am okay."

"I know, but it hurts to see you like this."

"I will drop you off to work, it snowed and you will have trouble commuting."

He did not give me the chance to argue as he turned around and walked upstairs. Something about the beautiful snow haunts him as I saw moist forming in his eyes, but he quickly left not giving me time to make sure if I have seen it right.
