Three days later........

The Hatch

"Breylynn you got your card today?" Deezy joked leaning against his trunk. Mariah had been in the backseat window fixing her hair from the time Deezy had stopped the car. But he figured it was a women's thing and decided not to bother her. Her hair could literally be going any which way and Deezy would still find her attractive.

Trying to fix the small wrinkles in her shirt Breylynn gave Deezy a quick roll of the eyes before answering. "I don't know why your worried about my money." She inquired settling on letting the few wrinkles stay.

"Deezy always in somebody business." Mariah added causing the rest of everyone to join in on the joke.

"Don't do that." Deezy said holding up his finger and shaking his head. "Unless you want to walk."

"Don't play with me." Mariah warned swatting at his finger but ended up missing.

"I wasn't in your business. I was just asking because didn't you say you was paying in the group chat?" Deezy wondered scrunching his eyebrows together.

"Now you know good and well I didn't say that. Melanie and King were the ones that invited us here so ask them that." Breylynn added nodding her head towards them.

Indeed it was true that Melanie and King had invited the group out to lunch. Miraculously everyone had some free time to spare making the their plans even better. To the group it was just a breakfast date or just simply hanging out. But King and Melanie planned on breaking the good news to them.

Deezy turned his attention onto the couple that Breylynn had named with an eyebrow risen. King had been to busy on his phone to notice, while on the other hand Melanie had a perfect middle finger waiting for Deezy.

"Yeah I got enough money on my card to cover everybody but you." She mentioned giving him a sweet smile.

"Dray you good?" Breylynn interrupted looking over at Dray. He stood off to the side with his hands in his pockets just starring. By following his eyes she could tell that he was just focusing on anything.

"Yeah I'm fine I was just waiting for y'all to come on so we could go inside. I been starving all day and y'all out here playing." He answered laughing drawing the attention off him.

Taking it as their cue they all made sure they had everything together. Such as: keys, money, and phone's. Truly the only three essential things they needed. Following behind one another Melanie looked over at King who hadn't placed his phone down since they had arrived.

"What's got your attention?" She wondered looking over at his phone. His fingers were moving a thousand miles per hour as he constantly sent a text and the other person replied.

"The shop actually. Jace did the count for this morning and it wasn't right. So I'm having him run me through it again to make sure I don't have to go up there and kill someone." He answered blowing out a deep breathe.

In all honestly King trusted Jace and as well as his employees. But also in the back of his head he knew he couldn't trust everyone. Which was why he trusted them from a distance. Meaning he gave them the slightest amount of trust he had in him.

"He probably counted it wrong." She reassured him shrugging her shoulders. "Back when I use to work at Dominos I counted the money wrong almost every night I closed. Mostly because people would leave money in other safes or sometimes I didn't fully check if the safe was clear." She further explained as they crossed the busy intersection.

All hurrying across King decided to hold the door open for everyone. Of course everyone thanked him and acted accordingly except for Deezy. Sometimes Melanie and them wondered how they had even embarked on adding him to the group. But despite his constant annoyance Deezy was the peace and joy of the friendship. He looked out for everyone and always made sure he could put a smile on your face even when you didn't want one there.

Entering all at once they stepped aside and let the few other customers pass them up as they waited for King. Walking in King sent one more text before locking his phone and placing it back in his pocket.

"You had this before King?" Mariah wondered looking around the establishment. In fact it was true that King had picked the restaurant for the announcement. At first everyone wanted to agree on IHOP but King had a hatred for that place. It seemed like no matter what you ate from there it all tasted the same.

Reassuring them that they could choose IHOP another day just when he wasn't invited King decided on The Hatch. The restaurant was locally owned by an African American couple that lived not to far from the establishment. Both dreamed of being a chief and once they fell in love at culinary  school their dreamed manifest together. Years later the two got married and opened up their first restaurant together.

King had found out about the place one day after just looking up some local breakfast joints for him and Melanie. He had searched through their reviews and pictures and found it to be an exceptional place. Deciding he would stop there one day King placed it to the back of his mind. Until one morning he had a meeting dealing with the shop and figured why not stop by after. So that he did and with only the first bite King fell in love.

"Yeah and if I must say I think it's way better than any other breakfast place in town." King vouched holding up his hands.

"Don't get cocky now." Melanie said giggling a bit.

"Good morning. Welcome to The Hatch! How many people will I be seating today?" A voice asked causing everyone to look in it's direction. It was a girl that seemed to be in her early teens or mid twenties. She was dressed in all black like the others but with a light brown cardigan draped around her. She wore her tightly, curled hair down in front of her face along with a big smile as she stood in front of them.

"Six." King answered looking over everyone.

"Alright you guys can follow me." She instructed grabbing a few menus from out of the wooden rack. Obeying they followed behind her as they soon entered the main eating area. "Would y'all like to eat indoors or out in our patio area?" She wondered turning around quickly still with the smile plastered on her.

Soon everyone's eyes went roaming from one another's in search for an answer. Without thinking Melanie suddenly answered.

"Outside."

"Great choice." She agreed laughing a little bit as she took a slight detour.

"Why y'all didn't say nothing?" Melanie questioned looking back at everyone. Although Melanie never really liked answering questions she always had this weird thing she did. Take for instance you asked Melanie what she wanted to drink. Instead of just taking her time and deciding she always panicked and said something such as a Sprite. Knowing that Sprite really wasn't what she wanted but she felt as if it was to much pressure.

She was weird but in her own way

Leading them out onto the patio Melanie in a way was kind of happy that she had chose this instead of outside. For one the weather was amazing. Not blazing hot but warm enough for you to be comfortable. Nice and soothing music played from the speakers instead of that regular country music that played. And over all very few people were out here except for a guy who was to busy into his computer to notice them.

Pausing real quick their host sat their menus down before hurrying to pull a near by table next to the one they would be seated at. The guys wanted to help but the girl had managed to do it in a hurry all while placing their menus at their seat.

"Your server will be with you shortly." She implied laying Dray's menu down last before walking off.

Opening their menu's each person scanned over the menu trying to find something. Melanie had turned to ask King what he had gotten before but she was interrupted when a guy approached their table.

"Hi! Welcome to The Hatch, my name is Caleb and I'll be your server for this morning. Can I start you guys off with any drinks? Or any fresh coffee?" He wondered pointing over to the huge coffee pourer in the middle of the table.

"I'll take some coffee." Breylynn answered holding up her hand slightly.

"Me too." Dray added.

"I'll take some too." Mariah said.

"Some cranberry juice for me." Melanie replied.

"And for you gentlemen today?" Caleb asked tapping his pen ready to write.

"Orange juice will do." King answered nodding his head upward.

"Some water for me would be fine." Deezy noted shrugging his shoulders.

"Alright I'll be back in a few with your drinks." Caleb smiled placing the notebook back in his apron. Grabbing the coffee pourer Caleb headed back inside.

"Deezy you drinking water?" Melanie asked shocked at his order. Truly all she ever seen Deezy drink were either Gatorade's or something without acid.

"Some of us actually care about our kidneys unlike you." Deezy shot back giving her a wink and a fake smile. And as bad as Mel wanted to slap it off she couldn't help but to laugh at his joke.

"Mel please just beat him up one good time." Breylynn pleaded shaking her head as she examined the menu.

"I will don't worry." Melanie warned rolling her eyes.

"So what y'all thinking about getting?" Dray wondered flipping the menu over in search for anything that caught his eyes. He wasn't so much of a breakfast person but like he stated before his hunger was changing that.

"I'm getting the breakfast platter." King suggested in a way looking back at the menu to see if he wanted to substitute anything.

"Where that's at?" Melanie wondered knitting her eyebrows together. Reaching over King flipped her menu to the front and pointed the the big black words.

"What you get on it?" Deezy questioned too lazy to look since he kind of had his eyes on the omelette section of the menu.

"You get a stack of pancakes or waffles, french toast, sausage, bacon, grits, eggs, and a hash brown." King replied hoping he didn't forget anything. At first when King had seen it he thought it was too much,  but if you had the stomach for it then it was worth it.

"Yeah that's way too much for me." Mariah mentioned shaking her head. "I think I'm getting the veggie omelette with a hash brown on the side."

"I think I'm doing the t-bone plate." Dray said closing his menu and rubbing his hands together.

"I want the platter too." Melanie agreed licking her lips at just the thought of the delicious food.

"That sound about right." Breylynn joked earning her a hit from Melanie.

"I'm definitely getting the cheese grits." Deezy said in excitement that the restaurant had even carried that.

"I'm back." Caleb announced his high pitch voice ringing their ears. He wore a bright smile like the other girl as he carried a black tray in one hand. If the group didn't agree on anything today they had to say that the customer service here was amazing. Making it to the table he carefully placed the tray on the edge of the table. "Alright here's some hot coffee for you guys and some mugs." He added placing the pourer in the middle of the table. Taking the three sky blue mugs he placed each one in front of who had asked. "And a orange juice for you. And a cranberry juice for you." He said placing the bright color drink in front of King and also Melanie's drink. "And a water for you." He continued placing the cup in front of Deezy. "I left some extra mugs by the coffee just in case anyone else decides they want some."

"Thank you." They said unison.

"Are you guys ready to order or do you need a little more time?" Caleb asked picking up the tray and placing it underneath his arm.

"I'm ready." King made known raising his hand.

"Okay and what will you be having today? Oh wait! My bad." He laughed throwing up his hands. "Are these all separate or together?"

"We're together." King answered pointing between him and Melanie.

"Us too." Mariah answered also pointing between Deezy and herself.

"You want to be together?" Dray asked slightly chuckling looking over at Breylynn.

"Why not?" She giggled.

Caleb laughed also pulling out his notebook and withdrawing the pen from behind his ear now. After taking each order one by one Caleb reassured that he would be back in a swift with there food and if they had any concerns just holler for him. Despite them being the only people outside besides for the man.

While fixing their drinks and as some converse Melanie and King thought it would be the right time to announce it. As far as how it should go the two had never really discussed it. Honestly King thought Melanie should have just spat it out but as you know sometimes Mel could be a tad bit dramatic.

"So y'all we got something to tell y'all." Melanie interrupted causing everyone eyes to fall onto her. Dray and Deezy eyes went for King who only wore a small grin.

"But y'all need to guess first." King added fiddling with the napkin that held his utensils.

"We to old to be guessing Mel." Mariah vouched looking over at the rest of them. They shook their heads in agreement as they too waited for them to speak.

"Come on just guess. It's not even that hard." King continued shaking his head from side to side.

"Y'all moving in together?" Dray spoke first throwing out a wild guess.

"Umm no." Melanie quickly denounced causing King to look at her. "I didn't mean it like that." She giggled patting his face.

"Y'all getting married?" Mariah stated more than asking but with slight doubt in her voice that her choice was the answer.

"Not yet." King said.

"We don't know." Deezy said duh tone.

"There's going to be a new addition to the group." Melanie stated hoping that they would catch on.

"What y'all swingers now?" Breylynn asked making a disgusted face behind it.

"What the hell?" Melanie asked killing herself of laughter.

"Not like that." King made clear smirking. "As in like you'll be aunt's and uncle's." He explained in a supriseeee tone.

"Melanie your pregnant?!" Mariah asked eyes almost bulging out of her sockets.

"Yes." Melanie gleamed.

"Yes I'm going to be an aunt!" Breylynn cheered sticking out her tongue while she danced.

"Congrats Mel. I'm really happy for you." Dray beamed smiling at the thought of their being a tiny mixture of King and Mel running around.

"As much as this world would not be able to handle two Mel's I have to say I can't wait to be an uncle." Deezy exclaimed smiling also.

"Y'all do know I helped with making this baby." King asked holding out his hands causing everyone to laugh.

"Congrats too bro." Dray added.

"I'm proud of you boy way to settle down." Deezy joked.

"Yeah yeah thanks." Breylynn said in a way of telling King to hush.

"How many weeks are you?" Mariah wondered trying to sneak a peek of her stomach. In a way Mariah thought about it but never had considered it.

"Maybe around six and a half."

"Oh my God! This was the best news ever." Mariah boasted covering her heart with her hand as if Mel had struck it.

"So when y'all know what it is?" Deezy inquired taking a sip of his water.

"Well I go to get a sonogram this Friday so from there we'll know. Which is what we actually wanted to talk to y'all about." Melanie noted giving them a fake smile. Honestly she felt like there was nothing to fear taking that Breylynn and Mariah would respect her decision.

Everyone continued to look at them with open ears as they waited for the next news. "We both agreed on not knowing the sex of the baby until the gender reveal."

"And we decided that are parents aren't good choices for keeping the secret from us." Melanie added.

"So we decided that it should be one of y'all."

"Who?" Breylynn interjected.

"We think that Dray would be good at keeping the sex a secret." Melanie considered pointing to Dray.

"Dray don't even know how to hold a baby." Deezy pointed out as he mugged him.

"What does that have to do with anything?" wondered Dray laughing at Deezy's nonsense.

"Sad to say I agree with Deezy." Breylynn affirmed.

Mariah on the other hand simply starred at Dray for a minute before turning back to Melanie. "Dray Owens?" She queried.

"Wow the respect y'all have for me is so amazing." Dray lied making a heart with his hands. "Despite them being angry I appreciate y'all considering me." smiled Dray.

"As long as we get to host the gender reveal then I guess Dray can know the sex." Breylynn suggested squinting at him.

"I'm cool with that too." Mariah agreed rolling her eyes.

"Y'all seriously need help." Dray said shaking his head before Caleb voice could be heard coming back.

To be honest Melanie and King wouldn't trade their friends for anything in the world. Sure they were a little thrown off but they enjoyed it. Their future child were going to have the best aunt's and uncle's ever, and Melanie and King were fine with that.
