Breylynn Residence

Knocking on the door Melanie rocked back and forth on her heels. She didn't think she would get a response when she unexpectedly text Breylynn this morning. But to her surprise she replied back in the next minute without a question.

Hearing the twisting of the doorknob Melanie was greeted with Breylynn. She was wrapped up in her white robe that Mel had actually purchased for her on Christmas five years ago. She was shocked she still had that thing.

"Hey Mel." Breylynn greeted sleepily as she gave her head a few pats. Yawning she pushed the door back some more so Melanie could fully enter.

Smiling back and entering Melanie responded with a soft vice. "Hey Bre. Thanks for responding earlier." Anytime Melanie entered someone's home she never knew where to go. Despite visiting a thousand and one times Melanie still stood off to the side until Bre closed the door.

Gesturing her to sit down on the couch Melanie obeyed and sat down. Breylynn soon joined too but not before opening the curtains and blinds behind them. After that she made sure to find herself a comfortable spot right next to her best friend.

"Girl that was nothing. You listen to me run my mouth all the time." She explained swatting her hand in a girl please gesture.

Melanie only giggled. She had her head down and finally decided to lift it up. Melanie had a hard time trying not to show her emotions. Especially when she was sad. It only took one thing to open the flood gates out of her eyes.

"So what's wrong?" Breylynn asked propping her fist into her right cheek. She could tell something was a little off about Melanie this morning but she wanted her to speak on it first. Just in case she was wrong.

Melanie was digging a whole into her bottom lip right now. In her head she was crying but physically she was trying to hold back. She just prayed her voice didn't crack when she tried to speak or it would be a wrap for her.

Rubbing her eyes Melanie took a deep breath and parted her lips to answer. "King came over last night and told me how he's been texting Nikki. And how he went over for diner one night, they drunk some wine, and I'm pretty sure you can guess what happened next." Her eyes got as wet as the sea, her vision became blurry, and soon the tears she had been holding back came flooding down. Even the ugly cry began to come out of her but she didn't care. She wanted to let all of this out because she knew this was the only way things were going to get better.

There was a long silence before Melanie looked up and seen Breylynn throw her hands up. "With Nikki!" She yelled laughing as she waved her hands now. She was in disbelief that King would scoop that low. "Ain't no way in hell King that dumb. Oh you gotta whip some a** Melanie and when I say whip I mean whip it good." She instructed shaking her head. "Even if you don't feel like doing it me and Mariah got it."

"No Breylynn that's what they want us to do. I'm not about to give them a show. I just really don't care anymore. If King said he loved me like he said then he wouldn't have done this." Melanie explained shrugging her shoulders as she wiped the tears away from her eyes.

"And your completely right but Melanie something telling me that Nikki's behind this. Not saying that King wasn't either. But this just smells like her written all over it." Breylynn vouched holding out her hands as if Melanie could see what she was imagining.

"It has them both written over it. Don't try to take up for him Bre. Your my friend. Your suppose to be here for me helping me get through it." Melanie argued rolling her eyes.

"Okay, okay, I'm sorry. I totally agree with you." She acquiesced shaking her head in agreement. "I don't understand how King could just mess up something so...so perfect with you. But a dog is a dog and you don't deserve that Mel."

Breylynn took her index finger underneath Melanie's chin and lifted her head high. And as bad as Melanie wanted to drop it Bre didn't let her. "Melanie your the best person I know in this world. You show everyone love and love is what you deserve back. But sometimes people don't see that. And it's fine. So no I'm not about to let you sit here and cry about him. So take this." She paused hurrying off the couch and into the kitchen. Soon she came back with a paper towel and handed it to Mel. "And dry them. Yeah your going to feel like sh** for a little minute. But I know your comeback is going to be amazing."

Laughing at Breylynn, Melanie accepted the napkin and wiped away her tears. She was right this wasn't the first heartbreak she would get over and it wouldn't be the last. "Thanks so much Bre. For letting me wake you with all this mess." Melanie thanked her giving her a weak smile.

"Melanie that's what I'm here for. We're in this together okay." Breylynn reminded her holding out her hand.

"Okay." Melanie replied placing her hand inside of Bre's. Breylynn yanked Melanie up from the couch and into a hug.

Rubbing her back Bre constantly whispered to Melanie that it was okay. But Melanie knew it wasn't. The sad part was she actually loved King. In fact he was the first guy she actually felt that way about. And that's what was killing her the most that she thought she had found the one. But he just turned on her like the others. She just wanted one good shot a love.

Was she wrong?

"Have you told Mariah?" She asked releasing her from the bear hug.

"No I just kinda of came to the first persons name I seen in my recent call log." Melanie admitted shrugging her shoulders. She wasn't trying to throw shade to Mariah or anything it was just she didn't get to her first.

"You got to let her know Mel. Good luck trying to calm her down. That's who King really needs to watch out for." Breylynn said chuckling. Melanie wanted to laugh to but the mention of King made her stomach turn. Or could have been all them waffles she ate.

"Yeah I know." She agreed dryly.

"So what's next?" Breylynn asked starring into Melanie's eyes.

"I truly don't know. I blocked him this morning when he was blowing up my phone. I'll probably give the few things he has at my place to Dray or Deezy. But other than that it's the process of forgetting him." Melanie answered truthfully.

"What about when we all go out?" Bre pointed out causing Melanie to look up to the ceiling.

"We keep our distance. He speaks I give him a simple answer and keep it pushing. He has nothing I want nor need anymore." Melanie answered giving Breylynn a blank stare.

Picking up the vibrating phone from out of the cup holder Melanie pressed the accept button. A few seconds later the call connected and she was met with Dray.

"Wassup big head?" He asked jokingly smiling through the phone.

"I'm pretty sure that's not how you greet someone who's going through a breakup." Melanie mentioned laughing at his craziness.

"You right, you right." He agreed laughing too. "But no for real how you doing kid?" He wondered pulling down the durag that already rested on his forehead.

Placing him on the dashboard for a better view Melanie held out her hands. "I'm here so i guess I'm doing good." She acknowledged sucking in her lip.

"Look Mel I know since I'm King's friend that you expect me to take up for him. And I'm not. King came to me a right after the situation between him and Nikki. He said how he didn't remember anything from that night except for Nikki lying about her car and crap. He said he took a sip of the wine and that was it."

"That's nice of you Dray but I already know the story." Melanie interrupted biter.

"Yeah I know." Dray added. "But look I told him the same thing I'm telling you. And he could vouch for that. He had no business going over there in the first place. And he had no point in lying about texting Nikki this whole time. When he should have just came to you as your boyfriend and told you how it was. So i wanted to apologize on my behalf of not telling you when I knew."

"Dray you had nothing to do with this. Did you know about him texting Nikki before that day he came over?" She inquired leaning her head back against her head rest.

Licking his lips Dray spoke. "Nah he came over and told me everything. I told him he lied the whole time and it was time to confess."

"Then you don't have to apologize. Neither do you have to tell me what he did or didn't do. Like you said he should have came to me as my boyfriend, well ex now, and told me what was up." Melanie stated pointing at Dray.

"Well that's his lost Mel. You a good kid and you deserve good. My brother just couldn't see that right now." Dray explained placing Melanie on pause real quick.

"Thanks Dray. I appreciate you."

"You know I got you little sister." He bragged cheesing from ear to ear. But Mel wasn't able to see. Dray loved calling Mel kid or little sis just because he was older than her by a year. But she enjoyed their brother, sister vibes. And she always loved how he kept it real no matter the situation. Because honestly he could have called her and tried to blame Mel. But he admitted that King was dumb for his moves.

"Okay bro you pushing it." Melanie warned laughing.

"Alright. But call me if you need to talk or anything." He reminded her coming back on the screen.

"I may drop off or you could come get the few little stuff he left over here." Melanie commented glancing up at her apartment. She had been sitting in the parking lot for a good five minutes. Just scrolling through her phone letting her mind chill.

"Wow you kicking him out before he even fully got in." noted Dray scrunching up his eyebrows at her. Melanie simply starred at the phone with a unhumorous look. "To soon?" He asked cringing.

"Yep."

"'My bad. But I'll come pick it up this week." Dray said correcting hisself. Suddenly, an incoming call from Asia was coming in causing Melanie to be put back on pause. "Melanie just text me or call me back Asia calling me real quick."

"Okay." She answered quickly before hearing the call end. With the call gone the background of Melanie's phone caught her attention. It was a picture of her and King from their ESU days. For a second she wanted to smile but her thoughts were cut short when a loud noise pulled up.

Looking out her window Melanie noticed it was red Impala that had pulled into the next parking space. Judging from the red delivery topper on their car they worked for Pizza Hut. Then suddenly the memories started to hit her.

Its not my fault your getting distracted." He said winking at me.

Now my hands had moved from the keyboard and to my face as I tried to conceal the laugh that dared to escape. Getting kick out was something I didn't need right now. "You must be feeling yourself. Trust me I wouldn't want you if you were the last slice of pizza in the box." I said looking over at him to only have his brown eyes catch mines holding them as if we were in a trance.
