"Text me when you make it back home Mel." King instructed as he leaned in the drivers window of Melanie's car. After enough laps around the Speedy Track and a couple rounds of miniature golf, well maybe a hour since the two didn't know what they were doing. Melanie and King had finally made it back to his place and were whipped.

King needed to get to the shop before close to make sure everything had ran smoothly. Not that he didn't trust his employees he was just making sure his name was still in tact. On the other hand, Melanie had a long night shift headed her way. She had switched shifts with Brooke so she could attend her cousins birthday dinner. At first Melanie was going to give her a foreshore no but she remembered how many shifts Brooke had took for her in the past.

"I will King." Melanie reminded him as she turned the notch up on the air conditioner. Despite it almost being the last afternoon the summer heat was still attacking everyone. It was getting so bad that sometimes Melanie was starting to see why her grandmother would only sleep with a sheet in the summer, and then switch back to her normal comforter in the winter.

"Give me a kiss." He said puckering up his lips for Melanie's. But instead he was met with her hand shoving his face away. King's face immediately mugged her as he wondering why he wasn't feeling Melanie lips right now.

"Not after you then downed that nasty green drink." Melanie cringed shaking her head at the remembrance of him even drinking it. Earlier King had stopped for gas and asked Mel if she wanted anything from inside. She answered with, just something to drink. Anything with cranberry in it. So King did just that he bought her a Ocean Spray Cran-Grape and hisself a V8 healthy greens.

Melanie was entirely confused as she watched him come back to the car with it. Personally she had never seen King drink it but she rested on not questioning him. But she did watch in disgust as he gulped it down on their way home.

"Don't play with me." smirked King as he grabbed Melanie's chin and pulled her to him. She couldn't help but smile as her eyes roamed King's lips. Taking that she was listening King kissed her before releasing her.

"Next time you grab on me like that we're going to fight." warned Melanie as she placed the car in reverse but making sure to hold the brake.

"The next thing I'll be grabbing is that puff. So don't be talking big when you know you not living like that." King joked laughing at his own corney joke.

"Whatever. Move up out my window." replied Melanie laughing too as she waited for King to move out the way.

"I love you." proclaimed King as he stepped back from Melanie's moving car. Still watching in back of her Melanie waited till she had completed backed out before relaying back the same words.

"I love you too."

And with that she placed the car in drive but before driving off she made sure King could see her waving him goodbye. It took him a couple seconds for his eyes to see through her tinted windows but soon he waved back as her car zoomed off.

Deciding not to use her aux cord on the ride back home Melanie chose to listen to the radio. Something she never did. If she didn't use her aux cord then she used her headphones as she drove. Music in her car was a must even if she was on a emergency run music needed to be played.

Luckily the good radio station was on that actually played songs people wanted to hear. Turning up the volume a bit, Talk by Khalid began to blast through the speakers of her car. Melanie didn't know the words to this song either but could sing the hell out of the chorus, and only the chorus.

Watching the traffic Melanie waited until the road was clear enough for her to pull out and merge into the left lane. As she continued down the street Khalid had began the chorus but suddenly Melanie's phone started to ring.

Confused Melanie tried to take a quick glance but her eyes instantly focused back on the road. Trying again she quickly grabbed the phone and looked.

+1 (281)678-4252
would like to FaceTime......

"Why are you calling me?...ugh!" wondered Melanie quickly pressing accept and returning her eyes back to the road.

As she listened the call connected and soon she heard the person's voice greeting her.

"Cut the crap what do you want?" Melanie asked switching the phone to her right hand as her left controlled the wheel.

"Why the attitude?" They inquired back. Melanie listened as they squirmed around in their seat until they found a comfortable position.

"Drémon please cut the crap and talk." Melanie insisted as her face slowly started to form into a pouting position. Being on the phone with him was on the list of things she hated.

Right after him.

"Did King like my little question?" He questioned.

"You got some nerve Dré." Melanie protested as she came to a red light. Feeling the car fully stop she finally looked down at the phone. When Drémon seen that she was finally in the camera he flashed a smile at her but Melanie gaged instead.

"Nerve of what? I simply congratulated him on winning your heart instead of me." He acknowledged shrugging his shoulders.

Looking up the light turned green. Switching her foot from the brake to gas Melanie continued down the road. Considering since Drémon wasn't important she placed him down in the cup holder.

"For starters you never had my heart. You were just a waste of time and I don't know when your going to get that through your head." Melanie hissed as she rolled her eyes.

"We were sixteen for crying out loud Mel. Yeah I messed up and so did you but that's be-."

"This isn't about the past Drémon." interrupted Melanie smacking her lips. "If anything I wish you go away just like our past."

"I'm here to fix our past. If you let me finish." He suggested taking a sip of his water.

"Finish what?" challenged Melanie as she looked out her rear view mirror to see if anything was coming.

"The same thing I told you that night. I still want you Melanie. Yeah I know I messed up but we were kids and I learned from that. I had something special and I couldn't see that back then but now I do. And I know you still love me too. I can see it." professed Drémon as he got closer to the camera.

"See what?" Melanie laughed. "You seeing me in person once and through a screen don't mean nothing. And unless you just became blind I have a boyfriend. Who I'm happily in love with." Melanie corrected him scrunching up her lips at him.

Seriously is it just our ex's whose on crack, Melanie asked herself as she shook her head.

"Nobody asked about prince." gibed Drémon as he to smacks his lips.

"His name is King. Don't try to do that when you was just speaking on his name when you wanted to know something. Are we done here because my man is calling." Melanie said coming to another stop.

"And that ni*** can wait. I'm on the phone with you." Drémon bragged.

"It's cool when he see your number he'll call you." Melanie mumbled with a smirk.

"Anyways!" Drémon said changing the subject. "Be serious for once Mel. Look I'm not asking for much but I am asking for you to give me another chance. Even if its as friends I just need you in my life right now alright."

"Your girlfriend know you on the phone with me?" Melanie asked completely ignoring what Drémon was talking about. She would have to be entirely crazy to actually listen to his foolishness.

"I don't be in her business she don't be in mines. If that answers your question." Drémon clarified. "Does King know I'm your ex?" He added laughing.

Drémon knew Melanie like the back of his hand and was a hundred percent sure that she hadn't told King anything about them.

Melanie was silent for a second causing a even much bigger laugh to emerged from Drémon. Ignoring him she continued as the light flashed green.

"He knows of you so that's all that matters. Stop trying to push any blame that you have for yourself onto me. Let me make something clear. If you think that I would ever take you back then God hisself would come and tattoo stupid on my big a** forehead. Your in the past and that's where your going to stay. Secondly since you want King to know everything. Tell him you want me and watch don't he knock all thirty two of your teeth back."

And with that Melanie ended the call. She felt no guilt that she lied about Drémon being her old friend instead of her ex to King. It wasn't like she was entertaining him or selling him any dreams. She was smarter than that and valued King more than that.

Did King do the same, She wondered as she sped up.
