"Next up Boo'd Up by Ella Mai." The radio guy announced before he played the track. Soon King speakers were blasting the love song all throughout  the car. Immediately just like any other girl Nikki started to sing but since she wasn't in the comfort of her own car...she mumbled it.

Not wanting to be rude King lowered it just a tad bit to where his voice could still be heard. "Do you need to stop anywhere while we out?" King asked looking through his side mirror.

"Yea-."

"No." Nikki semi yelled cutting Trey off. "No we don't need anything. We got everything at the house." Nikki added shifting her purse in her lap.

King looked through the top mirror to see Trey's face turn a little disappointed and embarrassed. "I was just finna ask if we could go to McDonald's." He mumbled into his seatbelt strap a little.

"Well this isn't your car so you don't decide where you want to go. What did I tell you? You get don't get into people car and boss them around." Nikki chastised him as she turned around in her seat to face him.

"But I wasn't bossing him around ma'." Trey justified hisself growing a bit angry.

"Trey." She corrected him.

"Yes ma'am." He said defeated.

"Woah Nikki! Calm down. Why you jumping down my mans throat like that." King wondered jokingly. "It's okay I don't mind taking him to get something to eat." He reassured her looking over his shoulder at her.

"It's not that King. My mother taught me the same thing and I'm going to teach him the same way." Nikki asserted finally looking over at King.

"And I understand that. I don't have kids so I wouldn't know to much about that. I'm not telling you to let up or you teaching him wrong. I'm just simply saying if he wants McDonald's I'll take him." Pleaded King.

Rolling her eyes Nikki agreed. In about the next ten minutes King pulled into a McDonald's not to far from where Nikki said she lived. Driving around to the drive thru King joined the small line.

"You know what you want?" Nikki asked Trey who say quietly in the back.

"A cheeseburger and fries." He answered looking at the menu through his window.

"You want anything?" King asked Nikki who seemed to be looking at the menu also.

"No I'm good." She said sitting back in her seat.

While they waited King decided to check his Instagram real quick to pass time.

Smiling to himself he decided to comment.
Iamkw ❤️

Locking his phone he placed it in his cup holder. Pulling up next to the intercom King glanced over the menu.

"McDonald's how may I help you?" The lady spoke nicely surprisingly.

"Hey. Can I get a double cheese burger, a medium fry, and a large Sprite." King ordered trying to see if he wanted anything else.

"Anything else?" The lady asked.

"No that's it."

"Your total is $5.98. Drive around for me." the lady instructed as King's ordered flashed across the screen. Pulling off King drove up to the first window where he met the lady who rung them up. Clicking her headset she opened the window.

"The double cheeseburger, medium fry, and large sprite?" She asked repeating their order.

"Yes." He answered.

"$5.98." She said holding out her hand.

"Here." Nikki said shoving a five dollar bill into King's chest. Looking down at it he moved it out his way and reached into his pocket. He pulled out six ones from it and handed it to the lady who was taking another order.

Handing him his change he drove up to the second window where a bigger women opened the window and handed them their food.

"Thank you." King said nicely before the women could slam the window. "Here you go." He said handing the bag over to Trey.

"Thank you coach." Trey thanked King as he began to tear into the fresh hot fries.

"I could've paid for it you know." Nikki let it be known closing her purse.

"What's wrong with me paying for it?" King questioned looking both way before pulling out on the main road.

"Because your already doing enough with taking us home and I'm not trying to have you do nothing else out your way." Nikki admitted looking out the window.

"It's called actually having a heart. Not that you owing me or anything." King said squinting his eyes at her.

He hated when he did things for people and they felt as if he was going to hang it over their head. That wasn't in his character. He knew how it felt to need someone's help and they hold it against you.

She gave him a little laugh before speaking. "You always knew the right things to say."

King didn't know what to say. Instead he just gave her a side eye as the yellow light changed to red.

_________

Putting the car in park King let his foot go off the break. His black Camaro sat outside a neutral brown two story house. It stretched out wide across its foundation, the front having a t-shape. The yard was cut off by the straight drive way that his and another black car sat in. A light in what he guess what the living could be seen from anyone walking by or sitting in front of the house.

"He's here mama." Trey exclaimed excited.

Both Nikki and King looked forward guessing he was talking whoever owned the other black car. King was oblivious to whoever it could be but that was none of his business.

"I know Trey. You can go inside but make sure you thank Mr.King for taking us home and for the food." Nikki instructed Trey who had already started unblocking his seatbelt.

"Thank you for the ride and food coach." Trey repeated hands eager to pull the door open.

"Anytime little homie." said King leaning back in his seat.

As if on command Trey's door could he heard opening and just like that he was out. But not before Nikki could stop him again. "And when you get in there tell him that y'all will not be staying up all night playing games. Your bedtime is eight you got school tomorrow."

Defeated once again Trey hung his head and spoke. "Yes ma'am."

"Alright now go." She said shutting back her door as Trey ran through the yard to get through the back door.

"His friend inside?" King questioned the boys excitement. He remember how excited he use to be when his mama would finally let his friends stay over.

"Oh no." Nikki exclaimed too. "That's his uncle inside of there." She said putting quotations around the uncle part.

King brought his eyebrows together in confusion.

"He's really not his uncle. It's actually my aunts adopted son so he's still Trey's uncle." She further explained. "But that boy right there gonna' make me loose it." Nikki joked referring to him running through the grass.

"Lighten up on him a little. He's a good kid I can see it." King said defending him as he chuckled a little bit.

"Only if you knew." She said shaking her head. Unbuckling her seatbelt Nikki turned to King. "I really do appreciate you taking us home King. And even trying to work on the car earlier."

"It's really not a problem Nikki." King explained saving his hands back and forth.

"I know you say I don't owe you anything but here." She paused. Reaching into her purse she dug around until she came across two twenty dollar bills. "This should cover gas and a percent of Trey's food."

"Nikki the boy food was literally five dollars and I didn't even waste a gallon of gas taken you home." King laughed tapping his gas fuel thing that rested at the half mark. "You don't owe me anything."

"I owe you a lot King." She said lowly. "I was young and dumb to give up somebody like you. But we all gotta' grow up right?" She questioned herself more than asking him.

King looked out the window down at the two women who were talking outside of the house not to far from Nikki's. As much as he wanted to act like they were grown up and mature now King still felt the pain she gave him. The first girl he ever gave his all to literally fucked over him.

"Look I really got to get going but I hope everything works out tomorrow." King said switching the conversation.

He had him a beautiful girl that loved him back and he wasn't about to let Nikki past actions ruin that.

"I would do the same thing if you cheated on me but that's besides the worries. If you won't accept the money at least let me buy you lunch or something." proposed Nikki.

"No I'm good."

"King no I'm being for real. Not on some flirty shit or anything. Simply taking you out to eat on a nice gesture and then we go our separate ways again." She explained and meant. She wasn't trying to lure him into to anything. She just felt if people went out the way for you show them that it was appreciated. Not just take from a person.

Biting his bottom lip, King pondered on the outcome this could have. See King was the type of person someone could get over on and he would never see it. Not calling him weak or anything but he's just one of those people you could count on. Always could. So people have a tendency of using that.

"Nah Nikki I got things to do. Why you so pressed on owing me back? I said you were good." King wondered as he placed the car in drive while holding the break.

"I'm not pressed." Nikki said offended. "I'm just trying to simply return a favor but I see you still think I'm on that childish shit." She said rolling her eyes.

"You bugging now." King said agitated.

"No because I really been seeing that. You telling me you still ain't forgave me for some stuff I did when I was sixteen." Nikki asked bringing the situation up.

King was trying so hard not to tell this broad to get out his car so he chose his words carefully. "Yeah I forgave you for fucking on some random when we were together. When you said you wouldn't share your body with nobody else and I was willing to wait. How was that waiting Nikki?"

Well at least he tried.

A pen could be heard dropping in the background right now between the two. Nikki knew her wrongs but it was something she never liked to talk about.

"Thanks for the ride." She said blankly as she got out of the car. Closing the door behind her Nikki started to walk off before a voice called her.

"When?" asked King semi rolling his eyes.

"What?" Nikki asked also coming closer to the driver window.

"I said when?" King repeated.

"My car should be fixed no later than Thursday. So we could go then. There's a Jamaican restaurant not to far from here if that's okay." Nikki explained pointing behind her.

"Yeah that's good." King said thinking nothing of it.

"I'll text you if things change." She reminded him before walking off.

Rolling up his window King backed out the driveway and back onto the road.
