Without much delay...let's start.

The Rains welcomed Jigar as his car entered Mumbai. The phone calls as if having their own reminder, started blaring and Jigar skipped into work mode.

As he was a mile away from home, his phone blared on answering it he came to know it was an emergency.

Jigar quickly got off the car and took a cab to the hospital. His entire focus was on the patient.

Mehek saw the watch, it was ten in the night. He must have definitely reached home. Why no calls then? Was she good in the date? Did she annoy him with anything?

Mehek's head was bursting with these questions but she had no answer. All she could do was look for a pastime to avoid these questions.

She went downstairs to the living room and sat with the parents who had been discussing something.

" What you all are talking about?"

" Nothing. Just making a list of all the works. You are getting married soon.", replied her mother, who received a nod from her aunt.

Mehek sighed, " We are not even engaged yet!"

" Do you have other plans?", Asked the mother sternly.

She shaked her head in negation and listened to the parents.

A moment later, the house phone rang and was answered by her father.

" Hello?"

The person on the phone introduced himself and Mehek's father gave a jovial smile.

" Oh, yes Aditya ji. How was the journey?"

So it was Jigar's father.

He laughed.

Mehek narrowed her eyes, they must have reached and he didn't have the courtesy to inform! Such a... She was getting angry.

" Great. We were all just sitting around and discussing the wedding preparations."

Her anger was now on the tip of her nose. Her father really said that.

" That's what Mehek said, you know! No worries let's get them engaged first and then begin."

'What!? Like seriously! ', inner Mehek freaked out. ' First that man doesn't call me on reaching home and then these guys are considering to get us married as fast as they could!"

" Sure sure. Let's talk tomorrow then."

Mehek looked at the elders who were bustling with joy and she felt as if a bomb would erupt inside her. She left them abruptly and went inside her room, banging the door.

She sat on the bed and held her head between the hands.

Her phone started ringing but her eyes couldn't stop tearing. She knew her voice will be different too, so she avoided the call.

But it rang again.

She thought must be an emergency and answered without looking at the caller id.

" If it is a normal delivery, call me when she is 6cm dilated." She said with her hoarse voice.

" And what if it is a man, your would be fiance , to be precise."

Mehek got up with a bang and checked the number to find his name. She groaned.

" Why are you calling me?"

" Why is your voice hoarse?", He asked.

" I asked first, you give me the answer first.", She said.

" You sound low with a hoarse voice. Were you crying?"

Mehek's eyes again filled with tears and she controlled herself, trying not to sob on the phone.

" You are still crying." He concluded, " Why? Is everything okay?"

God only knows what came over Mehek and she started crying with heavy sobs.

Jigar just let her cry. He didn't speak a word and she cried on the other end.

Once the sobs subsided, he asked, " Can I ask you what went wrong?"

" I don't know. I was upset a few moments prior then this engagement and then you called. I don't know why I am crying.."

" Mann bhar aaya?" ( Heart felt heavy?)

" You can say that." She mumbled.

" I called because when I came back home, mom and dad greeted me with the news of engagement and then I remembered about the night calls I promised. It was the best excuse to call you up."

She chuckled with a few sobs.

" Stop crying please." He said with such amounts of love or whatever it was that made Mehek smile and she chuckled again, this time with no sobs.

He smiled, " Is it really fast?"

" I was worried.", Mehek began, " First you forgot to call me on reaching home. Then the parents decide about engagement. It was like everything is moving at a pace much faster than I can process."

Jigar sighed, " Finally, I want you to always open your thoughts with me. I won't judge. I will be your cheerleader."

She smiled. He could definitely not see.

" Mehek? You are worried if the decision is right or wrong? About us? About the changes that will follow?"

" Yes." She whispered.

" The one thing that will be constant after this day will be me with a bit of tardiness as when I get emergency, I forget everything. Just focus on the patient."

" As it should be. I understand." She completed.

" As far as engagement is concerned. Take you time and then decide the date."

She smiled and he smiled back. Though the two couldn't see each other but the smiles could be felt.

" I shall let you go, now. You had a long day. Take some rest."

Jigar said, " Yes. I expect to hear your voice the next night."

" You will."

Mehek hung up the call and rolled inside the covers.
