The best thing about life is, when you think that you are at peace, it gives you enough hurdles to earn the peace back!

The night sky faded into the morning glory of the sun and the moon said good-bye, Mehek released a sigh of relief after a hectic night. She could finally go home and freshen up and be back in the hospital for duty, yayy!

Mehek Patel, a twenty six year old, average Indian girl, beautiful with those brown eyes and wavy hair till mid-back and smart because she didn't wear Kohl on her sleepy eyes.

Jokes apart, she's a perfect example of beauty with brains but the beauty also needs sleep for her brain to work and so she rushed to her house to get a few hours of sleep.

Mehek slept for an hour or two when her mother barged in and woke her up.

" Mehek! Mehek! Get up beta!! The boy's family would be here in a while..."

Mehek did not even twitch and her mother used her secret weapon.

Soon a loud baritone was heard in the room and Mehek got up to recieve the phone call which read,

Maa♥️♥️ calling...

Mehek groaned and looked up at her mother, " I came in the morning, Maa"

" I know but the boy's family would be here in a couple hours, you need to be ready!"

She groaned again but complied with her mother's wish.

Today, a new boy was coming to have a look at her, note the sarcasm, look as if she was some object and new meaning many had already done the said visit. After so many visits, Mehek had become accustomed to the traditions.

She got ready in her normal attire, as she didn't want to give any false impressions about herself. After that she went downstairs to help her mother in cooking the lavish brunch.

The doorbell rang and her mother went outside in the drawing room to welcome the guests. The guests usually comprised of the boy and his parents and if the sibling accompanies. While Mehek had her entire family scrutinising the boy and his family.

A few moments passed and Mehek was called in, she sighed and carried a tray full of  Masala chai ( tea) for the guests.

As she entered the drawing room all eyes turned to her, scrutinising her every move. She gracefully placed the tray on the centre table, served the tea to the guests and then stood behind her father's sofa.

She, as well, looked around to see who the new people were. They seemed rich. The lady, supposedly, the mother of the boy sat with elegance and observed her keenly while the father was engaged in some business talks with her father and grandfather.

The boy whose name she had yet to figure out sat there as if he was some royalty. His eyes stuck to her figure and she didn't like the first impression of his.

Soon the mother suggested that the couple may have a few words in private and Mehek guided, Namit, the boy to their garden facing balcony.

Namit followed her closely and as they occupied the seats in the balcony he asked her questions.

" Mehek, what do you do for a living?"

" I am a doctor, a gynecologist." She replied calmly.

" Okay, that means you may have emergencies in the night as well, right?", He asked.

Mehek stared him in the eye and said, " Yes, of course. Deliveries don't happen after checking the time."

Namit sighed and said, " Look Mehek, I am a Radiologist myself but I am not comfortable with my wife traveling alone in the night."

Mehek's brow twitched with anger yet she smiled and asked, " What do you suggest?"

" Anyways after marriage you will be staying in Pune, there day jobs are easily accessible, I hope you understand."

" I will think about it." She replied so as to avoid further conversation on the topic but seems like he was adamant.

" Also, may I ask how much do you earn? I mean after marriage we will have to look at the bills together."

Mehek was momentarily stumped, " I wish to send half of my pay to my parents. I hope that is not a problem."

Namit sighed loudly and said, " I will give it a thought."

Mehek was irked by that time and she stood up and guided him back to the drawing room.

The parents looked at them expectantly and none of them gave approval reactions. So they came to a conclusion of calling after a day and the guests went off.

Mehek turned to her father and said, " He wants a girl who will not go out at night for emergencies and maybe he wants my entire pay! Frankly, I am not interested. You guys give it a thought."

She picked up her bag and rushed out of the house to tend after her patients.
