Luke's POV.

I wake up feeling nothing but numbness, I can't stop thinking about the conversation I had with Reign last night, it keeps repeating in my head again and again.

The worst part is, even after all that, I still miss her, I miss her so much it makes me wanna scream.

I've thought about picking up my phone and apologizing but what will I be apologizing for? I didn't do anything wrong.

I keep wondering what happened to her, why was she crying when I had called? Why did I call at such a bad time and did she break it off because of whatever happened or because she was starting to catch feelings like me.

I guess I'll never know.

I sigh, staring at the ceiling and feeling like I might go crazy with all these thoughts.

My bedroom door opens and Mom walks with a laundry basket, she narrows her eyes at me then at the empty bottle of whiskey on the floor and at the hole I punched through the wall last night.

She releases a tired sigh as she let's herself in.

"Get up, take a shower, eat and go to school." She orders, picking up my scattered dirty clothes from the floor and throwing them in the basket.

"Are you doing laundry?" I prop on my elbows, watching her.

"Is it that obvious?" She deadpans.

"Why?" I force a chuckle through my tight chest.

"What? I can't do my kid's laundry?" She opens my closet and disappears inside.

I think about how going to school today is gonna suck.

Seeing her is gonna crash me.

Not talking to her is gonna break me.

And ignoring each other is just going to be super awkward for the both of us.

"Hey Mom?" I call.

"Yes?" She answers from the closet.

"Can I transfer to Hawthorne?" I ask.

"Ha ha, funny."

"Seriously, I'd be more than happy to transfer schools right about now." My heart arches, everything arches actually, it's like I got hit by a truck twice in a row.

"What's going on with you?" She peeks her head from the closet.

"Nothing, I just want to transfer." I lie.

"It's too late for you to transfer schools." She walks out.

"Can I skip school?" I ask.

"No, Luke, you can't skip school."

"But I really can't go today or tomorrow..." Or ever, "I'll try to make it on Monday."

"Jesus, Luke." She starts walking out of my room.

"Please?" I plead, she holds the door knob and faces me.

"Fine but you're driving your sister to school since she's grounded." She declares before exiting my bedroom.

I sit on the edge of my bed, running a hand through my hair and glancing at my phone on the nightstand.

I should call her, right? Just in case she-

No, fucker, don't even think about it.

I think about getting into the shower and going through all that showering process.

Nah.

I'm already wearing shorts so I throw on a white t-shirt and a pair of shoes.

I rake my fingers through my hair to make it look less miserable.

I shove my phone and car keys in my pockets and I leave my room.

I feel like everything around me is spinning, that might be the whiskey still working in my veins but I know the pain in my chest is because of her.

God, I should have just listened to that junior when she told me not to make things casual.

Mom's driver tosses me the keys to the Range Rover before I walk into the kitchen. I feel a little confused by who I find sitting on the kitchen island, eating breakfast.

"What are you doing here?" I ask Damien.

"Morning to you too, sunshine, I'm here to pick you up." He says cheerfully.

No, he's not.

"I'm not going today." I open the fridge, grabbing a bottle of beer and twisting it open.

"Why?" He bites on his bacon.

"I got dumped, seeing her today will be like stabbing myself right in the chest." I walk around the counter, sitting my beer down and giving him a suspicious look.

"What's he doing here?" Cassandra walks in.

Well, I was just about to ask him that.

"Hurry up, your highness, I'm going to be your chauffeur this morning." I say playfully, she wrinkles her nose at me.

"You look like shit." She walks to the fridge to grab her diet smoothie.

"The coolest chick at school dumbed his ass, of course he looks like shit." Damien remarks.

"He was datin- you were dating someone?" She chokes.

"We weren't even dating." I sigh, chugging my beer.

"So, does she taste as good as she looks?" Damien smirks at me, Cass makes vomiting faces behind him.

"Wait, are we talking about that girl that Mom caught you banging in Dad's office?" She moves to the counter beside Damien, he rubs the back of his head and moves, putting enough space between them.

I arch my brows at him.

"She... didn't catch us but yeah, that one." I respond to her question.

"That girl is my fucking idol," she nods to herself, smiling.

"Why? Do you like... dream about getting fucked in your Dad's office?" Damien rolls his eyes, Cass mutters something to herself before turning her head to face him.

"My father would murder me but the dude's Dad on the other hand..." She trails, biting her lip, I shake my head at her.

And people say I'm the crazy one.

"And here I was thinking you were a full time virgin." Damien's eyes sweep her body.

She scoffs, narrowing her eyes at him, then she closes the space between them.

"Damien," she places her hand on his shoulder, Damien's eyes dart to the hand then back to her face, "If I decline a sex offer from you, its not because I'm a virgin, it's because I don't want to fuck you." She tilts her head to her side, mocking him.

She's so full of shit and he's a fool for not seeing right through her.

I look around the kitchen, feeling like I shouldn't be listening to this.

"But I've never given you an offer, Princess." He chews slowly.

She smirks, "No?"

"No."

"Not even in your head?" She traces her fingers on the side of his head, he grasps her wrist, gazing into her eyes.

"Careful, little Zo, you're a prey, don't toy with predators, they just might attack." His words make me roll my eyes.

"Not even in your head?" She repeats the question like his threats don't mean shit.

"Nah, in my head, I've already fucked you to the moon and back and you loved every minute of it." He looks at her through hooded eyes, she swallows and blinks at him.

Ah, geez, kill me now.

"Please acknowledge the third person in the room who's genuinely creeped out by whatever this is." I break them out of whatever that was.

"I'm.. late." She stutters.

"Damien and I are driving you." I inform her.

She looks at me then Damien with wide eyes.

"No."

"Yes, I even got the keys to the Rover." I show her the key.

"Okay, but does he have to come too?" She whispers to me.

"Relax, princess, I won't attack," He assures her, "Not yet." He grins.

"Fucking psycho." She trudges out of the kitchen.

"Stop it." I point at him, he shrugs.

We follow her out of the house, I stare at the car and realization of the fact that I have to drive hits me so hard I feel hopeless.

"Yeah, I don't feel like driving." I scratch my head, Cassandra throws her head back and groans.

Damien snatches the key from my fingers and unlocks the car.

"Only the weakest people reach this level of heartbreak, stop being a pussy." He tells me, and opens the driver's side door.

I throw myself in the back of the Rover, laying down and staring at the car ceiling.

"I didn't expect it to hurt this much." I admit as the car moves.

"Only love can hurt that much," Cass looks at me from the passenger seat.

"You think I love her?" I ask, shooting my brows together.

"If you're hurting this much, yeah." She laughs. "Do you think maybe she loves you too?"

I didn't know a question could hurt until now.

"No, she's not capable of loving me, or anyone else for that matter, I knew that but I still.... God, why?" I run a hand down my face.

"What do you like about her?" She questions, that question makes me smile because there's just so much that I like about her but there's this one thing..

"Her laugh, fuck, she has an amazing laugh."

"Her laugh? You sound like a bad telenovela." Damien chuckles.

"What did you like about the last girl you were with?" She asks Damien.

"Do you really wanna know?"

"No, actually, sorry I even asked." She looks at me again, "You'll be fine." She says.

"No, I will not, I need to drink something strong." I realize.

"Or you can just listen to sad music, it works for me every time." She shrugs.

I sigh.

The car goes silent but it's so loud in my head, there's just so much going on in my head.

I check my phone, just in case she texted me by accident.

Nothing.

Just a bunch of messages from Mason and Ariana, asking me where I am.

I notice that we've entered Hawthorne premises, the school actually has a gate and the building looks like a castle from every Disney fantasy movie there is.

A school for the elite indeed.

The car comes to a stop and Damien kills the engine.

"You're gonna be okay, right?" Cassandra asks me, sounding concerned.

"Ish." I respond, sitting up.

"See you later." She says, opening the car door, she looks at Damien like she doesn't know what to say to him, he looks at her like he's expecting her to say something.

She ends up getting out without saying anything. I shake my head at them.

"Who's that?" He asks, I slip in-between the two seats, settling down on the passenger seat and following his gaze.

A guy has his arms wrapped around her waist, saying something to her, she laughs and responds to whatever he said and then they kiss.

"That's her new boyfriend Jake, he's cool." I shift my eyes back to him, his face doesn't hold any emotion but I know his insides are fuming with fire right now.

"Luke Richardson, fancy seeing you here." Says a familiar voice from the window.

"Rachel, hey.... again." I say awkwardly.

"Hey Rachel, you wanna party with us?" Damien asks randomly.

I shoot him the what the fuck look.

"I'd love to but I don't know what Luke's girlfriend is gonna think about that." She twirls a piece of her brunette hair.

"She actually dumped me last night so..." I don't know why I just said that.

"That's him telling you to get in the car, sweetheart." He gestures for her to get in, she eye-fucks both of us while biting her lip.

Ooookay.

"Can I invite my friends?" She asks.

"Of course." Damien plasters his evil smirk.

I sink into the seat.

Fuck my life.
