"You know what George, I realized that you are not the same person anymore... The person I used to like in college. The person who once cared for me, cherished me beyond a reasonable doubt, is now completely changed and I can't believe it...You have changed George, you don't understand me anymore." Mom yelled, tears dripping down from her bloodshot eyes and mouth smelling of alcohol.

"I haven't changed Claire, com'on we are now adults and parents to a kid. I have many responsibilities and one of them is to earn money for my family" dad shouted.

"Do you remember...when we spoke the last time? Speaking our feelings and... emotions" mom slurred and tripped over something causing the alcohol bottle to stumble from her hand and smash into tiny pieces... Just like my heart.

I was there hiding behind the door eavesdropping while keeping my hand over my mouth to shut down my sobs. I never saw mom consuming this much alcohol. Sure she used to drink but not to the limit of completely losing her conscience and screaming at dad like this.

"You are not making any sense. How irresponsible of a mother you are. Our daughter is right now present in this house sleeping and you are coming home in this condition" dad whisper yelled.

"Daughter...daughter...Chloe this Chloe that. You only care for your goddamn daughter. I...I am not your priority like I used to be. Ah" she cried in pain and I glanced, she twisted her ankle while walking towards my dad while my dad was having a furious and disappointed look on his face.

"You know what, alcohol has made you go insane. You are jealous of your own daughter? Seriously?" He screamed.

"You know what, I can't do this anymore. I just can't... I don't deserve this... I don't. I deserve to be treated much better than this...Yes much better."

"If you can't do this, you are free to leave my house right now. I had enough of your psychotic behaviour. Talking about me being changed, just look at you. You have turned into a psycho."

"You remember one thing, you...you're a goddamn mistake..., that's what you are"

"Huh, let me rephrase it. This, us, was a fucking mistake and I should have known the second things went further than planned." Dad shouted while climbing the stairs.

"I hate you, I am leaving... Just be with your... good for nothing daughter." She cried out from downstairs.

"Think of yourself first and leave this house right now."

"George-"

"LEAVE"

With a jerk, I snapped my eyes open breathing intensely, the memory still intact with me, never once fading of that dreadful night.

I got up and rinsed my teary face. Staring into the mirror, my hair was messy with eyes red and some tears were dried on my face while some were still fresh.

Why? Why me?

I don't know but I ask myself this question several times. Why me?

-

It's been 2 AM and I am still wide awake, because of the nightmare still haunting me, not letting me close my eyes.

Sighing, I got up and walked downstairs to the kitchen for water. While walking, I saw that dad's room's light was still on. I peeped to see, he was asleep on his chair with a laptop on his lap still on.

I walked towards him and carefully took the laptop and shut it down, setting it on the table nearby and took a blanket to cover him.

After I was done, I stepped out of the room while switching off the lights. Slowly closing the door, I walked into the kitchen.

I restored the jar with water and climbed upstairs placing it on my table.

Laying on my bed, I still wasn't able to sleep for a while.

Dad once said when I used to feel lonely,

"if you ever feel lonely or scared, listen to music. Sometimes, all you need is to lie down and listen to music. Sometimes, a solitary voice can be the best one."

I grabbed my headphones and connected it to my phone.

Playing the music, I laid back closing my eyes and slowly tuning in to the Melody.

Strolling through the school's hallway, I never once saw Daniel. Perhaps, he is absent today, but today being the school's second day, he is pretty much brave.

Interesting.

"Hey Chloe," I turned around and it was Bree striding towards me. I waved at her.

"Water," She says, catching up to me. Nodding, I open my bag taking out the water bottle and passing it to her.

She gulps in a few seconds and gives me back when done.

"Hey, so I've got a request," She mumbles and I frown.

She proceeds, "So, this Friday, it's a football match and Liam is inviting much like forcing me to come and watch him play...and...I can't go alone so how about-"

I interrupted her with a big NO. I have never attended any school's event. I can't go. Nope.

"Please... Please, we'll leave immediately after it's over. I promise." She says staring at me with her blue eyes hoping me to give in.

I merely shake my head turning around to leave. As much as I want to help her, I can't. I just can't.

She grabs my wrist, "Can't you do this little favour to your friend, please," she pleads with those blue innocent eyes but I wasn't able to give in. I pretty much want to stay away from this.

Yanking my wrist, I mouthed a 'sorry' and walked away.

I am sorry.

I walked into chemistry class, the guilt of rejecting bree's pleading was not leaving my mind. Sighing, I put my backpack down sitting in the mid row. The class was hardly filled with any students. Not many students were interested in this class. Makes me wonder why because I truly enjoy the concept of reactions. Shortly, our chemistry teacher arrived and I was lost in the world of chemistry.

The moment I arrived home, I found dad speaking to someone on the phone and he was looking exceptionally eager and happy. He had just arrived too by gazing at his attire, he was still in his work's clothes.

"Yes of course...sure...sure...we'll come by this weekend...definitely..thank you."

We?

'No way! I ain't going anywhere,' I thought while tossing my backpack on the nearby sofa. He notices my presence and nods a short smile, going back to speaking on the phone with the person.

He ends the call shortly after and turns to me with a pleading smile yet nervous smile carved on his face.

I can't anymore with this look.

"Hey Chloe, welcome home," he says nervously fidgeting his fingers loosening his tie and letting out a deep sigh.

"Speak," I say, not wanting to wander around while removing my shoes.

"It's my childhood friend. He called me after a long time. He and his family recently moved here from Texas" he explains and holds up for my response.

"So..." I ask, raising eyebrows already knowing what he is going to say next.

"So, we are going to visit them this weekend"
