The four of them decided to leave the TARDIS and deal with one problem at a time. They found their way to the staircase and managed to find the room from which the President of the United States was breadcasting the first contact they would have with the alien species.

The plan was to get one of the TARDIS keys around the Master's neck, which would cancel out his perception, and the humans would be able to see him for real, no more mind controling, only a wicked man who needs to be stopped. Their plan's only fault was the fact that every single person in the room was on red alert. They watched carefully as the president spoke and annoucned the arrival of the species.

"And I ask you now, I ask of the human race, to join with me in welcoming our friends. I give you the Toclafane," he announced. Nina frowned. She had never heard the name Toclafane before the Master had announced it on television. Everyone gasps as four spheres appear in front of their eyes, the same from the news report they had seen at Martha's place. "My name is Arthur Coleman Winters, President Elect of theUnited States of America, and designated representative of the UnitedNations. I welcome you to the planet Earth and its associated moon."

"You're not the Master," one of the spheres said in a metallic voice.

"We like the Mister Master," another agreed.

"I can be your master if you wish," the president stupidly said. " I will accept mastery overyou, if that is God's will."

"Man is stupid," another sphere said, mirroring Nina's exact thoughts.

"Where's the Master, pretty please?"

And just as the Doctor was approaching where the Master was sat, the latter stood up abruptly. "Oh, alright then, it's me. Ta daaaaaa!" The Doctor froze in place, panic filling his body. "Sorry, sorry, I have thiseffect. People just get obsessed. Is it the smile? Is it theaftershave? Is it the capacity to laugh at myself? I don't know. It'scrazy-"

"Saxon, what are you talking about?" The politician cut in, not understanding what was happening.

"I'm taking control, uncle Sam," the Master said in a perfect American accent, turning to the president with his arms crossed. "Starting with you," his voice was back to normal. "Kill him," the Master whispered to one of the spheres.

As soon as the sphere fired a laser beam and obliterated the President, all hell broke loose. The Master laughed at his own insanity as his guards tackled the Doctor to his knees. They were able to see him due to him taking off the key he was wearing in an attempt to put it around the Master's neck.

Nina sighed as she made a decision, and tried to run to her brother, removing her key at the same time.

"Stop her!" The Master yelled, taking advantage of the fact that his guards could finally see her. Needless to say, three guards were needed to take ahold of her and push her down, her knees violently hitting the hard wood floor. The Master ordered everyone to stay still, and for some reason, they obeyed. No one moved, no one got out, no one got in. The Master took a few steps towards his sister and laughed again. "Nina, Doctor, we meet at last!" he exclaimed. "I love saying that!"

"Stop this, stop it now!" The Doctor exclaimed at the insane man.

"Did you two think the perception filter was going to work on me?" The Master asked them. "And look," he turned to where Jack and Martha were still standing next to the wall. "It's the girly and the freak. Although, I'm not sure which is which," he admitted, reaching into his waistband to grab something they all feared would be a weapon.

Jack noticed this, and ran towards the Time Lord. The Master didn't even hesitate before he fired what looked like a laser beam at him. Jack fell to the ground with a grunt, and Martha was soon by his side.

"Laser screwdriver," the Master told the Doctor, flexing on the sonic. "Who'd have sonic? And the good thing is, he's not dead for long. So I get to kill him again!" He yelled, a wicked grin on his face that sent shivers everyone's spines.

"Master, just calm down," the Doctor tried.

"Just look at what you're doing, just stop!" Nina told her brother. "If you could see yourself..."

The Master paused for a moment, looking back at the cameras that were still filming their live broadcast, for some god forsaken reason.

"Oh, do excuse me. Little bit of personal business. Back in aminute. Let him go. Hold her down, though, she's a fighter." The master said with a wink.

The guards harshly threw The Doctor on the ground and Nina flinched at the sound of pain he made upon contact, his body hitting the ground before he could stop his fall with his hands. However, he was soon back up on his knees as the Master walked down the stairs he had been standing on.

"It's that sound. The sound in your head. What if I could help?" The Doctor tried desperately.

"Oh, how to shut him up?" The Master complained, continuing his walk towards his sister.
