--Xander's P.O.V.—

I pull into the parking lot of the drugs store, cutting the engine before stepping out of my car. I step in and start walking towards the back to the pharmacy part of the store. I walk up to the counter giving the women a half smile.

"Hi, how may I help you?"

"Hi. I need to pick up a prescription for Isabelle Jones," I reply. She starts typing on the computer before turning around grabbing a bag, opening it to take out the package.

"You have one prescription, for an ear infection," She says as she hands me the bag. "Make sure to have her take it twice a day until the bottle is completely empty. She might start feeling better before the infections I completely gone but it might not fully be gone yet," She tells me.

"Okay, thank you. Have a good night," I say starting to turn and walk away.

"Thanks, you too sir," She says politely. I continue walking, ready to go home until I notice someone familiar that catches my eye. I walk closer noticing it's Emilia. I quietly approach her, slowly standing behind her.

"Hey Emilia," I whisper lowly in her ear, my breath fanning her skin. She shivers and I feel a smirk grow on my lips. She slowly turns around and I look at how terrified she is. I didn't mean to scare her that much and feel regret instantly flood my mind, "Are you okay? I didn't mean to scare you that much. You look like you're gonna pass out," I say with a laugh trying to lighten the mood but still feel concerned for her. I notice she stays quiet as she stares at my face with a now blank look. I feel my smirk grow, she is checking me out? She quickly pulls from her stare, letting out an uncomfortable laugh, as she readjusts the items in her arms. I look at them noticing gauze, antiseptic and some medicine. What does she need all that for?

"Yeah. I'm fine. I just get startled easily," She says as she glances at the bag in my hand before looking at it curiously, "What's the medicine for?" She blurts out. She quickly put her hand to her mouth as her eyes widen.

"I...I-" She starts.

"I could ask you the same thing," I interrupt. She stares at me nervously for a moment.

"I...uh...my brother cut his...finger when making dinner," she says with a forced-looking smile. She seems like she is lying based on her nervousness and the moments she had paused as if trying hard to think about it.

"Okayyyy," I drawl out, sounding very unconvinced by her statement.

She stands there for a moment looking around the room, "I better get going. Got to get this medicine and stuff to my brother," She says, pointing behind her, as she starts taking steps back before turning and walking away.

"Bye, Emilia. See you tomorrow..." I trail off as I watch her leave. I walk down some ails, grabbing a couple more things before heading toward the front register to pay for the items. I set them down, pulling out my wallet as she scans the items. I give him the money. He then hands me my change and I stuff it in my wallet and grab the bag. I head out the door and feel the crisp cold wind blow past me making me shiver slightly. I get into my car and start it, cranking up the heat to start warming up the car. I pull out of the parking lot and head down the road towards my house.

As I'm driving I notice a figure down the road, walking along the sidewalk. After a moment from the little light from the light poles, I notice it's Emilia, walking alone in the cold. I slow down near her and was about to get her attention. She glances back, noticing my car and then she picks up speed. I take into account the cold and notice how it looks like she is in pain. Is she limping? What happened to her? I pull my car up next to her. She turns in my direction with a scared expression and I quickly roll down the window, watching visibly sigh in relief.

"Do you need a ride home?" I ask. She still seems shocked by my presence and she looks like she is contemplating her decision.

"No, I can walk thanks," She simply says continue to walk again. She walks for another minute or so before turning her direction back to me once again.

"Do you need something?" She asks still walking, facing forwards again, sounding slightly irritated.

"Just making sure you get home safely," I say nonchalantly, hoping she would just take my offer. It cold and dark outside. She seems so frail and small and might freeze to death. She looks like she is having an internal battle with herself and grow curious at the frown etched on her face.

"I don't need your help. I'm perfectly capable of walking myself," she says frustrated.

"How far is your house?" I ask, hoping she doesn't take this situation the wrong way. She rolls her eyes before maintaining her gaze in front of her.

"Why do you care?" She snaps at me and I'm shocked by the slight outburst but understand why. I don't mean to bother her. I just can't have it on my conscious knowing she is still out here in the cold and visibly in pain. Her gaze shifts to me with widened eyes, "I didn't me-"

"It's fine. It's an honest question. I just don't think anyone should be walking home alone when its dark out," I say with a shrug as she glances my way, hoping she believes my reasoning not thinking ill of this situation.

"Thank you, but I'll be fine," she says again.

"I'm sorry but you can't get rid of me that easily. Wouldn't want something bad to happen to anyone walking late at night," I simply say. She turns her gaze forwards, her face going blank once again as she gets lost in her thoughts once again.

She shakes her head, "Okay," She says softly, me barely hearing it from the distance and the heat blowing through the vents. I pull up to the curb and unlock the doors as she steps forwards. She opens the door and steps in as her shoulders slump in relief. She places her bag on the floor fastening her seatbelt. She crosses her arms, slightly uncomfortable still, which I understand completely.

"Alright, direct me to your house," I say as I pull from the curb. She still looks slightly distant in her thoughts before nodding.

"Uh...just continue down this road and take a left at the first stop light," She directs.

"Alright," I say as I follow the direction she gave me. I take quick glances her way, noticing she starts fiddling with her fingers and pulling her lip in between her lips as she bits on it nervously. I wish she wouldn't do that. I grip the steering wheel slightly wondering what it would feel like to kiss those lips and-

'Snap out of it!' I scold myself. I glance over again, noticing her more nervous than before. What have I done now? I'm gonna scare her away and I don't even know why.

I try making conversation but instantly regret it, "Who was that guy talking with you outside the school this morning," I question in concern and kind of regret it because I sounded slightly jealous, hoping she doesn't notice. She visibly tense once again. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to pry. You don't-"

"It's okay. He's just my brother," She says with a hint of disgust and my eyes squint in confusion. She probably didn't notice her tone but I certainly did. She turns her attention out the window, still tense.

"Sorry I-"

"It's fine, just make a right up the road and it's a light blue house," she interrupts, continuing to avoid my gaze as she looks out the window. I didn't mean to upset her. Now I feel guilty hoping I didn't upset her too much. I see her house the closer we get, pulling to a stop in her driveway. Curiosity runs through me as I notice there isn't any cars.

"Thank you for the ride," She says quickly as she grabs her back, getting out and shutting the door.

"You're welcome," I mutter under my breathe. I wait, makings sure she enters the house. Once she enters I pull out of the driveway heading towards my house.

----

I pull into my driveway and see my mom's car parked in the driveway. She must have gotten Izzy because I was later than usual. I turn off the engine and step out the car heading to the front door. I twist the knob and open the door before shutting it behind me,

"Alexander? Is that you? What took you so long?" My mother says, walking from the kitchen, firing lines of questions my way. I scratch my neck nervously.

"Don't worry. It's not what you think. I just took a girl home," I say, hoping she believes me.

A huge smile forms on her lips, "You took a girl home? What girl? What's her name?" She says starting to practically interrogate me.

I let out a laugh, "Yes, mom a girl and she's the new girl at our school. She was walking home alone from the drug store so I offered her a ride home. No big deal and he name is Emilia," I say, trying to hold the smile threatening to form on my lips as I think about her.

"Oooooh! Someone's got a crush!" Izzy says while giggling at me.

I squint my eyes at her, playfully "Do not!"

"Do too!"

"Alright, alright, that's enough. Come eat some dinner," My mom says giving us the 'don't mess with me look'

"Yes, mom," we say in unison as we take a seat at the table.
