When you got to your room you slipped inside and shut the door quietly behind you.  Walking over to your desk, you took out your hand gun you kept there and slipped into some training cloths.

When you got to the training room, you noticed that Captain Rogers was already there. He asked you if you wanted to do some sparing and you held up your gun in response, signifying your intent on target practice instead.

"Want to join me?" You asked him sweetly.

"No thanks Y/N, I think I'm gonna run upstairs and get something to eat.  Do you want anything?" He asked considerately.

"No thanks, its too early for food," you replied, loading your ammo into its magazine. "For some reason, everyone is awake," you add absently.

"Everyone? What is everyone doing up so early? The sun is just starting to come up," he stated obviously, taking a look out the window.

"I don't know." You said, and he left the training room, leaving you to your thoughts.

You fired off your first round, after putting on safety glasses and hearing protection. You fired another, hitting your target smack in the middle.  You repeated this a few times, feeling the recoil lovingly each time you fired.

You loved shooting your hand gun. Always had, ever since you where a 9 years old, and your father let you fire your first BB gun.

You fired a few mags, hitting your mark each time before you finally got hungry enough to go and get food. You took a few twists and turns before you finally arrived at the kitchen.

You grabbed a few pieces of bread and put them in the toaster, then jumped up on the counter to sit down while you waited.  You heard someone entering the room and turned your head to behold the God of Mischief.

"So, I see you survived your little talk with Thor?" You teased.

"I told you I could manage," he responded in equally good humor, flashing you one of his charming smiles.

"I suppose I remember you saying something like that," you smiled.

His expression changed suddenly. He narrowed his eyes at you suspiciously and asked, "why do you talk to me?"

"Because I like talking to you," you said, taken aback by the bluntness of his question.

"Do you trust me? The others don't." He took a step closer to you.

"Define 'trust.'" You requested coyly.

He laughed slightly in amusement and said, "I tried to kill you, remember?"

"We all have our days," You stated. "I think its fairly safe to trust you now."

"And why is that?" He asked you in a purring voice that made your stomach flutter with nerves.

You looked at him quizzically. "I'm not quite sure."

He had moved toward you slowly, and now he was close enough for you to see his emerald green eyes flash with the amusement that was so prominent in his voice.  The little glint of mischief was seemingly always evident in those green orbs.

DING

The toaster went off with an alarmingly loud noise.  You snapped back into focus and started so hard you nearly fell off the counter. "I--uh--that's mine." You jumped down and stepped around him hurriedly.

You looked over your shoulder to see Loki still standing there, now leaning against the counter top on which you had just been sitting, still looking amused. "What?" You asked him defensively.

His face took on a look of false innocence. "What?"

You turned back and rolled your eyes, blushing slightly.  Were you attracted to The God Of Mischief? Oh god no! This cannot be happening, you thought. He is a psycho killer.

He didn't seem psycho, though.

You heard footsteps fading and you looked around to see Loki had left the room.

You took your breakfast to your room and figured you would read for a while.  You picked up the book you had left on the bedside table and started where you had left off, not taking in a single word. You simply couldn't get him out of your head. It was like a sickness.

You wondered how he could deal with everything that went on and still he perfectly fine.  It was as if he felt no emotions. If he was at all hurting, he did a fine job of not showing it. Except, of course, last night. in the kitchen.  Something seemed off with him that night.

You finally were able to flush him from your head and read a few chapters of your book in peace.  You enjoyed reading an awful lot.

You had been in your room for a long while until you heard Jarvis tell you dinner was ready.  You walked into the dining room and everyone was there, seated around the table with food on their plates. All except Loki. You hadn't really thought he would be there, but you had hoped.

You walked over to your empty seat, noticing that Natasha and Clint had intertwined their legs from under the table.  You seemed to be the only one to observe it.

"Where is Loki?" You asked, casually as you could, staring pointedly at the room you grabbed.  "Why do you care? Reindeer Games took his food to his room," Tony informed. Natasha gave you a suggestive look, smirking.

You smiled as sweetly as you could, looking her straight in the eye. She got the idea and the smile faded from her face into a look of mild realization.  There was slight movement from under the table and you noticed Clint shoot her a questioning look.

After dinner everyone went to the living room to watch TV and you all argued over what you wanted to watch. Since no one would agree on anything, you all ended up watching the weather channel, which was the one thing nobody wanted to watch.

After a while you got bored with the weather and got up.  "Where are you going?" Steve asked.

"My room," you lied, walking out.  You wanted to go see Loki.

His room was in the same hall as your own, so it was easy to look like you were heading to the destination you had told the soldier.

You reached Loki's door and tapped softly.  No response. Cracking it open slightly you saw his form laying on the bed on his stomach, his arms over his head.  He was sleeping.

You closed the door softly and put your forehead to it, sighing heavily. You went to lay down on your own bed, having no intentions of doing anything except reading. You read for a while as it grew dark outside.  Laying your book on your bedside table, you turned and pulled up the covers, trying to woo slumber. But it was useless. You had no idea what was causing this whole "not sleeping at night" shit.

You gave up after a while and turned your light back on and started reading again.  It was very late when you began hearing muffled cries.  The first time you heard it, you thought you had imagined it. The second time you knew something was up.  Slipping out of bed, you opened you door and listened.  It came from Loki's room.

Tiptoeing down the hall you opened his door and whispered, "Loki?"  You heard nothing but heavy breathing.  Was he having nightmares?

Slowly stepping inside his room you made your way over to his bed, your eyes adjusted to the dark as you went. He was shaking and panting heavily, covered in a cold sweat,  mumbling incoherent words under his breath.

You reached out and put your hand on his should and shook him gently. "Loki! Wake up! You're dreaming!" You hissed.  He let out a soft groan and his eyes snapped open. He stared at you with a horrified expression on his face.

"Loki?" You asked hesitantly. Only half awake, he looked you over, as if trying to make sure you weren't a monster out of his dreams. "Sorry I woke you, I heard shouting. Do you want me to leave?" You asked in a low whisper.

His incoherent brain was struggling to catch up with reality. Still half-believing he was sleeping, he shook his head. You sat down awkwardly on the side of the bed, not entirely sure what he would want from you, or if he even realized what he had said.

His eyes shut immediately and he reached out for you, pulling you close and burying his face in you shoulder.

Your stomach blow up with butterflies at having him this close to you. You settled yourself into a more comfortable laying position and soothingly stroked his raven black hair. You wondered what he would think of this in the morning when he was fully alert. After a while his breathing evened out and he fell asleep again.

It didn't take long for you to follow his example and drift off, content in his arms.
