You went with Natasha and Clint to the S.H.I.E.L.D HQ and made good time. When you got there you hopped out of the car and stretched for a second before going straight to talk to Nick Fury.

"Whats going on, Nick?" You asked, coming into his office and taking a seat.

"Your next job, Agent Y/L/N." He turned around and tapped his little floating screen a few times. It showed the three of you the tracking readings they got from what was left behind when the 'scientists', or so you assumed, tried to hack into the forbidden files.

"We need you three to go to this location and take a look at whats going on. Report back before you make a move," he instructed.

"Sounds good," said Natasha, getting to her feet. You walked out onto the deck and took a jet, Natasha and Clint taking the front seats.

Sighing, you got into the back and buckled up, listening to them give instructions back and forth, arguing about who should drive like an old married couple.

Laughing silently to yourself you found that you had a slight longing feeling within you. You missed Loki, and you hadn't yet been away for more than twenty four hours.

This was not going to be a fun trip and you hoped to get it over and done with before to long. You had to fly all the way over to Arizona from New York.

Ugh. That's a long freaking way, you thought sadly to yourself, going over a mental map in your head. Natasha flew.

After a few hours, you where snapped from your thoughts by Clint's voice, asking you a question. "So, Y/N, what happened with you and Loki this morning? You guys spend a ton of time together." He turned his head slightly and looked at you expectantly.

"Oh-uh-yeah we do. We were just goofing off, he was trying to make me leave my bed." You stated, then added, "you did a better job at that."

He nodded knowingly and Natasha asked out of the blue, "so are you guys officially together now?"

The question made you jump a little.

"Wha-no! We aren't going out, we're just friends." You looked up at them to see they were both giving you the same look. It practically stated on its own, "yeah...right."

"Shut up," you grumbled.

They smiled at you in a negatively invigorating fashion. "We didn't say anything."

After that you didn't talk very much until you reached Arizona, landing your small jet a few miles off from the location that you had seen on Fury's computer.

Jumping out of the air transportation, you moved silently through the woods until you came upon a cabin of sorts. It definitely didn't look like the place you would find mad scientists.

"Should we just knock on the door?" You asked sarcastically. Natasha took out a tiny pair of high-tech x-ray vision glasses and put them on.

After a second she said, "no one inside. Lets move." You all went around the cabin in different directions, coming to the door at the same time. Clint jumped up on the roof with a leap off a log and told you guys he would keep watch in case anyone came.

You and Natasha went stealthily inside and were shocked at what you found. The place had already been stripped. Someone packed up and left in a hurry.

You went into the little kitchen and looked through the cupboards. There was still food in them. So someone got out of dodge in a rather big rush, taking only their equipment and leaving. Interesting.

You looked around the edges of the cabin and found some sort of memory card. It wasn't out of the question that it had fallen out of a computer when it was being hastily moved from one place to another.

You picked it up with your gloved hand and put it into a small zip-lock bag, showing it to Natasha. She looked it over and slipped it into her bag. You went outside to see Clint still perched on the roof, bird-like and alert. Walking out into the little driveway, you looked more closely at the ground.

There were faint tire tracks. Someone had been here, maybe two days ago. Looking around a little more you followed the tracks into a small truck trail leading into the woods. You called for Natasha and Clint to follow you.

You walked very slowly and carefully, looking for something, anything, that might have fallen off the back of a truck. The tracks faded gradually and you couldn't tell which way it went anymore, so you turned back, once again giving it a careful look for something you had missed.

~~~~Loki~~~~
Loki paced his room in boredom. He felt like a prisoner, and in a way, he supposed he was. Y/N had been right, she was one of the main reasons he left his room. He didn't want to be in the company of the Avengers just as much as they didn't want to be in his company. He stopped pacing and laid down on his bed.
He missed her. Y/N. He hoped she was okay right now, not neck deep in some sort of trouble she is always so keen on getting into. He turned his head slightly to the left and saw his open book on his bedside table.
It was one she had got for him. He didn't know why she had been so nice to him. God knows he didn't deserve it, after trying to kill her and all. Yet, she was persistent.
It was rather annoying at times, her persistence. But it only made her that much more special to him. He enjoyed having someone there for him, treating him like he was worth something. He liked, he considered carefully, being approved of.
He didn't like to admit it, not even to himself, but that's all he ever really wanted from his father, and it was something he never got. It made him everything he was today, the good and bad parts of him. The ambitious God of Mischief, and the angry son who would never be able to stop grasping in the dark for something he couldn't find. There was an empty spot inside of him, no doubt. He had tried to fill it with glory, magic, numbness, but it did nothing to mask the feeling. It had aided only as a temporary distraction.
Closing his eyes, he he turned his darkening train of thought back to her instead. Her smile, her laugh, her playful sense of humor, her loving and forgiving nature. He loved her.
Wait what...? His train of thought stopped abruptly. Loved her? Did he love her? He had never loved a woman, how could he be falling for a mere mortal?
Oh, be she was so much more than that, and he knew it. It didn't matter how many times he reminded himself that he was a god, and she a lowly earth dweller. He could never put himself above her. She was better than he. Downright pure, and filled with a light he could never outmatch.
Maybe it is love, he thought. Surely she would never feel the same. He caused her a lot of trouble. He tried to kill her! He killed 80 people in two days. Not that he felt bad about that exactly, but how could she possible love him when he had done those things?
It was most likely out of the question, and he did his best to push those thoughts to the back of his mind, yet they kept springing back to the front.
"Just come home safely to me," he whispered.
Okay I personally kind of like this chapter. What do my wonderful readers think??
