Cause you're a good girl and you know it ~ Drake

The classroom continued to buzz shortly after Quinn was called to the principal's office. We offered to come with her. She claimed she was good enough to go on her own.

The teacher had asked her to explain why Declan said she was assaulted by one of her soccer players. "Alex's parents were called and they pulled him out of school," Quinn blew out a breath, she was only back to collect her things.

"They were pissed but not even at their own son but at me. Can you believe that? They said I was doing it for attention and that I was lying. Like I would make something up like that!" She exclaimed.

"Mrs.Roman called my parents to pick me up. She told me I could press charges if I wanted." she shrugged her shoulders, obviously drained.

"Are you going to?" Lily asked, twiddling her pencil between her fingers.

"I don't know."

We nodded and hugged her goodbye. She left the classroom once again and it was just me and Lily for the rest of the day. Declan was also sent home due to the fight he started. People kept asking me questions about it but I just ignored them. I truly don't understand why the attention is always on people from my friend group.

When I got home my mom was the first one to greet me. "I heard about Quinn, how is she?" Her and Quinn's mom were close. They always talked whenever something was up with one of us. They called themselves the "double trouble mommas.'

I nodded my head, "she's holding up." My mom hugged me before letting me pass by into the house. "If something like that ever happens to you, don't be afraid to tell me. I'll always be here for you. Know that."

"Thanks mom."

On my way up the stairs Victor was making his way down. We both came to a stop in front of each other. He was slightly taller as he was up the step above mine. Grey eyes pierced my brown ones once again.

I moved out the way to let him pass but on second thought grabbed his arm. He stopped and turned his head to me.

I bit my lip not sure what I was doing, "uhm, I-"

His eyebrows creased as I tried to put words together. "Hmm?" He looked down at my white nails contrasting with his black jacket. We were at eye level now.

"I just wanted to say thank you. For kicking Alex out of my room that night. If you didn't come in at the time you did. I probably would of..." I trailed off, not wanting to even think about what could have happened.

He nods coolly, "No problem." He moved to turn again but I gripped his arm still. He turned back around, raising an eyebrow.

"But, why did you kick him out?"

He looks long at me before fully turning around and leaning on the railing of the stairs. He bit his lip in thought, his eyes looking down.

"I never liked him, he was just so weird. In the locker rooms after practice he would always brag about his newest "bitch" of the week and how he planned to fuck them. He never spoke about girls out of respect, just lust. He even offered to show us all of their nude pics and videos," his nose scrunched as he talked.

I really did dodge a bullet. I lowered my head feeling like an idiot. "Well thanks." I mumbled.

"Aniya," he called to my turned back. "You should be more careful who you drink around. He could of easily taken advantage of you. Knowing you're not used to hard liquor."

I nodded. I was ashamed of the way I acted that night. It really was stupid of me to bring a guy I barely knew up to my room.

"Plus," he took my hand in his and spun me around. His hand felt soft and warm. "I don't know if I could forgive myself if something bad happened to you," he said honestly.

I lifted my head up, my eyes widened slightly. Is that the real Victor in there? He has never said anything this sweet to me before. I tilted my head to the side like a confused puppy. He then released my hand and walked down the rest of the stairs.

I've been up all night trying to figure out this math problem. I tried rereading notes and looking up YouTube videos but nothing works.

There was a knock on my door and Kendall's head popped in. "Whatcha doing sweetie?" Her eyes fell to my paper. "Ooh math, need some help?"

I scooted over on my small bench so she could sit down. "You're good at math?" I asked.

"Mhm, I used to be a math teacher you know," she winked. She grabbed the pencil out of my hand and finished my problems in no time. If only she could do that with my real life ones.

"Wow, you work fast. Wait, you were a math teacher?" This is news.

"For one year, yes," she stated proudly.

"What happened?"

She frowned, "well at that time I was about 25 and teaching a bunch of high schoolers. They didn't take me very seriously. I tried to be nice and throw an end of the year party but one of the boys got too bold and tried to ask me out," she leaned back in her seat. "After that happened I quit and started working in business."

"Ew," I cringed. "You had little boys running after you like that?"

"I know it was scary," her eyes widened. "They completely disregarded the r I had in Mrs."

"Hmm, is that where Victor gets his smart from? He gets them from you?"

She waved her hand, flattered. "I wish I could take credit for that big beautiful brain of his, but no, that's all him."

My mind clicked back to the part Kendall said she was married. "You were married at 25?"

"Mhm, the one and only Elijah Simone. The love of my life." Her eyes shone brightly as she spoke of him.

"Why isn't he ever here?" I prompted.

"Work baby, it's his work. He loves his job and I don't want to sadden him by keeping him here. He was always supportive of my dreams when we were younger. Now it's my turn to do the same."

I bobbed my head processing those words. Kendall stood up dusting herself off. "Well I'm going to bed now. Goodnight Aniya."

"Goodnight," I said back. My door closed shortly. I looked down at my finished work and placed it into my homework file.

Today was the last day of school. A few seats were empty during class. We watched a couple of movies in my first few classes. I met up with Quinn and Lilly for lunch. Declan was still suspended. We made sure to stop by his house on our way to school.

It was a peaceful day, people backed off and finally let us breathe. We sat in silence enjoying earth's nature. I love eating outside in good weather. I of course brought some sweet fruit with me and it felt like I was in heaven.

Alex didn't come back to school either. Quinn decided not to press charges. We all disagreed but respected her decision. Word was already getting around about Alex so his reputation and image was ruined anyways.

After science class I was back in my history classroom; the one I shared with Victor. I wonder if we'll have any classes together next year.

Anne sat in the front of the classroom too busy in her phone. I didn't miss the leg she stuck out to trip me as I walked by. I stomped on it "accidentally" and apologized when she howled like a wolf does to the full moon.

I smirked on my way to the back and took a seat next to Victor. The teacher played the movie Hercules for us and sat back in her seat, eating a bag of gummy worms.

Victor pulled a book out and opened it to a certain page. I see he's brought the books back out. It was too dark to make out the cover but it looked interesting.

I watched the film silently. I honestly adore this movie, I've watched it over and over when it first came out. My phone dinged and a message from an unknown number appeared on my screen.

It was a digital invitation for a pool party. Some kids wanted to start the summer off and apparently invited the whole grade. I looked around and noticed other people in the class talking about it too.

I nudged Victor and his eyes cut to me. I showed him the screen. "Are you going to this?"

He eyed the screen and shook his head, "no,"

"Aw come on, why not?" It's one of the first parties of the summer. You don't even have to swim, just show up."

He flipped a page. "I'm good."

I huffed and turned in my seat.

After saying goodbye to all of our teachers we were out for the next two months. I rode home with Quinn and Lily. I waved goodbye as they drove away.

Did I say how much I loved the weather today? Well I do, it feels like summer again. The sun was out, the grass was green and the sky was its perfect crystal blue. It's almost like it was the perfect day.

I stepped into the air conditioned house and shut the door behind me. "You're going to that party tonight Victor," Kendall ran after her son. She stoped momentarily, flashing me a smile before chasing back after him.

"I am not," he retorted, climbing up the stairs.

"Yes you are!"

Cora stood in the center of the foyer looking up at her mom and brother running up the stairs. "How did she find out about that party," she whispered to herself.

My eyes narrowed. "Cora, you're in 8th grade. How do you know about that party?"

She froze looking ahead at me. A mischievous smile spread along her face, "what party? There's a party going on? I wonder where?"

"You can't go, you know that right." I crossed my arms over my chest.

"Please Aniya, it's a freaking pool party. I invited my friends already!" She put her hands together in plead. "I'm technically in 9th grade now."

I shook my head, "too many assholes in one place. Sorry, you must be 16 and up to go." I passed her, dropping my backpack by the stairs  and waltzing into the kitchen. Where is that fruit platter Kendall just bought?

"Aniya," she whined, following after me.
