Let me let you go ~ Billie Eilish

"Really?"

I nod happily. "Yup, we are moving in after school today!"

"Oh my god that's great," Lilly gushes. "I'm so happy for you."

I pout my lips when she hugs me again. Lilly is too sweet.

"You ready?" My mom hops into the car putting the key in the ignition. We didn't have much to pack. Mom bought us some t-shirts and pants that we kept in a plastic baggie. I hummed, plugging my earbuds in and laying against the seat.

Twenty minutes later I felt the car curve. I opened my eyes and gasped at the sight before me. The houses on these streets were enormous. The colors white, black, and blue made up the majority of the houses as we drove on the smooth road. Every house had a perfect lawn too. This can't be real.

We pulled up to a gated house with a driveway big enough to fit six cars. My mouth popped open as we sat in this big-ass driveway in front of this big-ass house. My mom closed my mouth for me and unbuckled her seatbelt. "Come on Aniya, stop staring and move."

Snapping out of it, I unbuckled my seatbelt and got out of the car. The sun hit my back giving me warmth; I stayed in my spot stretching my arms. We went up to the door and rang the doorbell. I bit my lip timidly like I habitually do when I meet someone for the first time.

A second later a lady with long dark hair opened the door and nearly jumped on my mom wrapping her into a hug. My mom laughed, hugging her back. A small smile spread on my face as I watched the two talk, it was nice seeing my mom happy.

"Kendall, this is my daughter Aniya, " my mom introduced us.

Kendall turned around her light blue eyes lighting upon seeing me. She immediately held her arms out embracing me into a hug. Her hair smells like vanilla cookies.

"It is so nice to see you again, the last time I saw you were just a little baby," she said looking at me with admiration in her eyes. "What grade are you in now?"

"Eleventh," I chirped.

Her eyebrows raised slightly. "My sons in that grade, I'm sure you'll get along just fine."

I smiled nodding my head.

"Well come on in," Kendall motioned with her hand stepping back so we could enter. I don't think I could have prepared myself to see the inside. A chandelier hangs from the ceiling and a white staircase snaked upstairs. "Wow," I said in awe.

Kendall turned around observing my expression. "You like it?" she asked.

"I love it actually," I said.

Kendall giggled, taking my hand in her small one. "Come on, I want you to meet my kids."

I followed Kendall down the hall to the kitchen that connected to the living room. On the grey couch sat two kids, a boy who looked around nine and a girl who looked thirteen. They both possessed dark hair like their moms.

"Oh shoot, I'm missing one. Be right back." She hurried up the grand stairs disappearing into a hall. I looked around at the beautiful design of the house.

"It's Beautiful isn't it," my mom came behind me. I nodded leaning my back against the marble counter.

"Hey did you know that your friend lived so close," I asked her.

She raised her hands, shrugging her shoulders. "I had no idea she was even in this state. I thought she was still living back home in Wisconsin."

I scrunch my nose. "Wisconsin, you used to live in Wisconsin?"

My mom blinked, staring at me as if I was missing a few brain cells, which I probably was. "Yes child, how do you not know that I was from Winsconsin I talk about it all the time."

"I thought you came from someplace cooler like New York or LA..."

She crossed her arms, pursing her lips. "You think if I was living in LA or New York that I would willingly move to Georgia?"

I took a second to think about it. "You have a point there, but Georgia has Atlanta so why wouldn't you move here?"

"Aniya."

"Yes mom," I batted my eyelashes. It's funny how easily irritated she gets with me.

"Girl if you don't get out of my face," she laughed, playfully pushing my face back. I laughed with her but stopped noticing Kendall coming back downstairs.

She held her casual dress in her hands and she walked down the stairs. "OK, he should be down in a second." she sighed ushering us to the living room where her kids were. "Nico, Cora come here," she said.

The two looked up from their cellphone and tablet standing up. "Nico, Cora I would like you to meet a dear friend of mine and her daughter." She stood behind the two. "Aniya and my longtime friend Katherine."

I waved, giving them a bright smile. Nico didn't say anything. He just stared at the two of us. Cora smiled, waving back, "Nice to meet you I'm Cora," she beamed.

We sat down with Cora sitting next to me while Nico went back on his own couch and resumed his game. I turned to Cora, "So how old are you?"

She beamed showing me her pearly teeth, "I just turned thirteen, how about you?"

"I'm 17."

Her lively eyes dropped to my arm and her hands reached for my bracelet. "I like your bracelet," she said, examining all the charms.

I giggled, taking the bracelet off and giving it to her. "Here you can have it."

She smiled graciously, taking it and putting it on her arm. "Thanks, we can be best friends now," she said.

"Oh, Victor you're here." I heard Kendall say.

Victor? I slowly turned my head to where Kendall's voice came from. My heart almost dropped when I saw him.

He was looking in my direction, his cold eyes staying on mine. When I couldn't hold eye contact any longer I dropped my eyes, turning away. He was only wearing grey sweatpants and a black t-shirt but damn he looked good. My cheeks flared when I noticed his hair was wet as if he just got out of the shower.

Kendall came around introducing him to my mom, and you would never believe what happened next. He smiled. Like he really smiled, a smile with teeth and all. I've never seen him smile before. He should do it more often.

"Aniya, this is my oldest son Victor." She placed her hands on his shoulder. She had to stand on her tippy toes because her son was a few inches taller than her. He stared at me with those cold eyes again, his smile now gone with his hands stuffed in his pockets.

I put a hand up and offered a small "Hi." He nodded politely. At least he acknowledged me.

Kendall narrowed her eyes looking between the two of us. My mom did the same, and they shared a look, a smirk following afterward. My eyebrows furrowed watching the two engage in their silent conversation.

"Hey Victor, would you be a dear and show Aniya her room while I show Katherine hers?"

Victor nodded "Sure," he looked in my direction again and I froze like a frightened deer caught in headlights. "Come on," he impatiently said, walking off.

When I realized he was leaving, I scrambled off the couch smiling at everyone, and nearly bumped my knee on the table trying to catch up to him. He walked silently in front of me, and I took the hint and kept my mouth shut as he led the way.

When we turned into the hallway, he stopped in front of the first door and opened it going inside. I tried to follow him but he swung around blocking my entrance, nearly knocking me over. "This is my room, wait out here." He closed the door and I gulped, taking a step back.

A minute later he came back out and walked to the door behind me. He extracted a key from his pocket and inserted it in the lock. I looked around the hallway, there were only two doors.

"Hey, where are the other rooms?" I asked, peering over his shoulder. He unlocked the door and stepped inside. I did the same and gawked in awe at my room.

Not only did I have a bed, but I had a sitting area with a huge flatscreen tv built in the wall. I ventured more into the room looking around. I opened what I assumed to be the closet door but turned out to be a private bathroom. The room had a pretty grey and blue color scheme.

He shrugged, stuffing the key back in his pocket. "There are three hallways upstairs and each one only has two rooms."

I nodded, not paying any attention to what he was really saying. I fling open a pair of doors in the corner and gasped when I saw the inside. Arrays of clothes were hanging from multiple racks.

I closed the doors and took a seat on my luxurious bed. Victor stood in the corner looking at me weirdly.

"What?" I raised an eyebrow.

"Nothing," he looked around the room, setting his eyes back on me. "I would help you unpack, but it seems like you won't need any help in that department." Turning on his heels he walks out closing the door behind him.

I sighed, he was right.

I looked through the drawers and found some sweatpants and a t-shirt. Stepping into the bathroom, I ran to the shower and sighed when the hot water hit my skin. I took my time and went back downstairs to see Nico in the same spot he was in since I left.

"Hey Nico," I said, searching the couch. I'm sure I left my phone here somewhere. He shifted his eyes then placed them back on the screen after seeing that it was just me. Yeesh.

"Have you seen a phone around here?" I asked. He pointed to the floor. I dropped down on my knees and saw my phone sitting comfortably under the glass table.

"Thanks," I typed in my passcode and walked back to the foyer. On my way upstairs I heard some giggles coming from the hallway opposite to mine. Being the nosey person that I am, I followed the sound and found myself in front of the master bedroom door.

How did I know it was the master bedroom? Well, there were two doors for one, and from what I can see on the inside from the crack of the door it didn't even compare to my room.

My eyes darted to the bed on the far side of the room. My mom and Kendall were on the bed giggling and whispering like school girls. I rolled my eyes going back to my room. On my way back I passed another hallway going straight back. Must be where the kids' rooms stay.

My hand was lingering on the door handle to my room when I glanced at the door behind me. Looking around real quick I let go of the handle and carefully pressed my ear to the door. I could hear the soft bass of a song coming from his room. I wonder what he's listening to.

I pressed my ear harder on the door, steading my ragged breathing so I could make out the song.

"What are you doing?"

I jumped nimbly, spinning around with my hands behind my back. Nico stared up at me with cold eyes similar to his older brothers. I waved my hands. "Nothing, nothing" I spluttered. Oh god why out of all people to catch me it's him.

He narrowed his eyes accusingly pointing an index finger at me. "You were spying on my brother weren't you!"

My face flushed and my eyes widened. "NO, no, no, no you got it wrong. I just got the rooms mixed up that's all," I nervously scratched the back of my head.

He was about to open his mouth again when I heard footsteps coming from his room. "Welp gotta blast," I blurted, opening my door and quickly closing it. I instantly jumped on my bed burying my face in my pillows when I heard Victor's door open.

"What are you doing out here?" I heard Victor's deep voice.

"That girl was spying on you," Nico tattletales.

I groaned, burying my head deeper in the pillows almost suffocating myself.
