Alexander's POV:

I woke up the next day without Lexi waking me up. I take that as progress on my sleep schedule.

But then I looked at her bed to see it was empty. Then I looked at the time on the clock.

10:38 am.

Not that bad. Lexi wakes up at 9 am.

I got out of bed and went to the bathroom to freshen up. After I was done, I went to the kitchen to see Lexi staring at the laptop screen in full concentration.

I cleared my throat to let her know that I was there.

She looked up at me and said, "You took your time waking up."

"You didn't wake me up." I said and went to the fridge for some food.

"I don't have to wake you up all the time." She said.

I decided to change the topic. "What are you looking at?" I asked motioning towards the laptop.

"Remember what the officer told us yesterday?" She asked.

"Yeah. What about it?"

"Well, you might wanna look at this." She turned the screen towards me.

On the screen, there was a new page opened up that included all the information and images of what happened 17 years ago.

"Multimillionaire family, the Gonzalez found dead after their company got bankrupt." I read the title.

"That's not it. It says here, that only one of them is still alive. Anna Gonzalez. They even have a picture of our mom when she was young." Lexi said and scrolled down to the section of the article where the picture of our mom was.

"What the officer said was all true. Since the company was well known, the government somehow kept it running in hopes that the missing daughter would come back and take the position as a CEO. She never came back so they had to dissolve it." She said.

"So we talk to mom?" I asked.

"We talk to mom." She confirmed.

We asked Harris to give us a ride to the hospital. When we arrived we thanked him for giving us a ride and went inside.

We went up the elevator to our mom's room. We saw her last week. She was slowly getting pale and most of her hair was gone.

Today we saw her, she looked even worse then before. But every week she gave us a smile. Like she was happy to see us.

"Hi, mom." I greeted as I want to her side.

"Hi, honey." She greeted back.

"I'm here too." Lexi said sat on a stool beside her bed.

Mom gave her a weak chuckle. "I know, baby."

"How are you feeling?" She asked.

"Like yesterday." Mom answered. "How are you liking your new home?" She asked.

"I wouldn't call it my home for the time being but it's nice. We managed to warm up to them and them to us." I said.

"We told them a lot about you, you know. They were asking if they could meet you sometime." Lexi added.

"Of course they can. They don't have to be hesitant about it."

"They will bring their camera man with them, mom. You sure you'll be okay being recorded?" I asked with a smile.

"Okay maybe not the camera. But tell them they can come meet me anytime if they want too." Mom answered.

I chuckled at her response. For the next 20 minutes, we were talking and joking around with our mom.

"Oh mom, did we tell you what happened yesterday?" Lexi asked.

"No. What happened?" Mom asked.

"Well, you know how Char is taking interior decorating as her career?" Mom nodded so she continued, "She came yesterday with a bunch of stuff and made us decorate the pool house. Let's just say we feel a bit at home now."

"That's good to hear."

"That's not it. She was bossing all of us around and when we were all finished, she asked us why we were all so tired." I said with a laugh.

Mom laughed as well. Then we said what we wanted to since we came here.

"We were so tired that we fell asleep on the floor. Then a loud sound woke us up." I said.

"There was a gang member that was looking for Philip. We took care of him. And when he was being shoved into the cop car....a police officer told us something." Lexi said looking at mom.

"What did he say to you?" Mom asked a little hesitant.

"He told us about your family mom." I answered. "He told us how they killed each other."

Mom sighed. "I'm assuming you want to know what happened?" Mom asked.

We nodded looking away.

"It's okay, babies. I'll tell you." Mom said.

Our heads snapped up at that. "Really?" I asked.

"Yes. It's about your family too. You deserve to know why you never got to meet your grandparents." She said.

"Well then tell us." Lexi said.

"Okay. So before you were born, the name Gonzalez was well know. My father was the CEO and I was more than happy to be the next heir because I was an only child. We lived a happy life before that dreadful day came. My father told us that the company had gone bankrupt and that he had to take loans from a gang. The most dangerous one in the whole country. He did that because he didn't want to appear as weak and turn to other CEOs for help-"

"So basically his pride got the best of him?" I cut in.

She shrugged. "Basically. Anyway, so he got the loan and he had to return it in given time. But the time wasn't enough. I was at Mike's house when it happened. They came and killed my whole family. The strange thing was that they left the guns and everything else. I couldn't understand why but I didn't take notice of it. Before they could do anything to me as well I took everything and went to Mike. He helped me rent out a place and find a job. But then I got pregnant with you both and everything went down hill for some time. The rest you know." She finished.

Hmm. I don't know about you but the story seems strangely familiar to me.

Oh who am I kidding! That the exact same thing that's gonna happen to Philip.

"What is the name of that gang?" Lexi asked seeming to catch on as well.

"They go by the name of Deadly Squad." Mom answered.

Suicide squad! I now remember! Those people are cheaters!

"But why are you asking?" Mom asked.

Lexi shrugged. "Curiosity."

Mom was about to ask another question but the sound of the door opening cut her off.

Her doctor, Dr. Ava, walked in with a smile on her face and a clipboard in hand.

She told us that our time was up and it was time for mom to take her medication.

We said 'bye' to our mom and went outside.

After visiting our mom we took public transport to get back to the house.

Currently, Lexi and I were sitting in the kitchen, browsing through multiple sites in hopes to find out something about the "Deadly Squad".

During our research, I stood up and went to make coffee for myself.

"You sure you won't put the coffee maker on fire this time?" She asked, not looking away from the screen.

I have her a scowl. "I'm not using that thing. I'd much rather make it on a stove."

"Then make one for me too." She said.

"Fine."

After making the coffee, I set the cup beside her and asked, "Got anything?"

"Not yet." She answered.

"I think we should stop for now." I said after a beat.

"Why?"

"Because, we've been at this for hours. I think a break is necessary."

"I need one. Not you. So take my place and continue." She said.

Okay I'll admit, she was the one doing all the work while I was lounging around.

"Not now. But maybe tomorrow." I said and went to go to our room.

She stopped me by asking, "Where are you going?"

"I'm tired. So I'm going to get some sleep." I answered.

"You just had a full cup of coffee. Sleep isn't going to come to you anytime soon." She said.

She got me there.

"Alright. Fine. I'll do it." I agreed and took her place, continuing her research.
