Hi y'all! How are you doing?

So this is a little bonus chapter I wrote because I was bored.

Warning: When I'm bored the chaps usually end up being boring too. So don't expect anything entertaining from this.

But do try to enjoy.

Keep in mind that this took place when Anna was still alive and the twins were 17 or something. And this is written in third person's point of view.

Edit: I changed the ending a little bit. I realized that Philip never got a chance to explain himself so I thought to change it. Also I was not exactly happy with what it was like before.

Enjoy :)

Alex was sitting beside Anna who was looking her him worried because in the past fifteen minutes he's been with her, he hadn't said a word.

"Alex, what happened? Why are you so quiet?" She asked him.

Alex sighed and lifted his head up which was resting in his forearm on the bed.

"I don't know how to approach the topic, mom. It's just that...Lexi's been on edge lately." He said.

Anna looked at him with furrowed eyebrows. "What do you mean?"

He didn't know how to approach the topic.

After sometime he decided that he'd just get it over with. "Well, yesterday a few hours before midnight, Lexi went somewhere with Char and didn't come back until 1am at night."

{Flashback}

Alex was pacing the living room with his phone pressed to his ear waiting for his sister to pick up.

"Come on Lex. Pick up." He mumbled.

After the call went on voice mail for the 17th time, he gave up and decided to call Char instead.

"Alex, I'm sorry!" She immediately said as soon as she picked up.

"What? What happened? What are you sorry for?" He asked her.

"Alex, I'm really very sorry. It's partly my fault but just don't get mad at Lexi." She said making him even more confused.

"Char, what are you talking about?"

"Lexi, isn't in her right state of mind at the moment." She said.

"What happened to her?" He asked as he started to panic.

He couldn't bare to see his sister hurt or upset.

On the other side of the line, Char glanced in the passenger seat from the outside of the car, where she saw Lexi crying silently.

She was sitting criss cross on the seat with her face hidden in her hands and the seat belt was safely buckled around her.

Char could here the music blasting from the house they were in front of.

"Um, do you know where we went?" She asked Alex, still on the phone.

"No. Where did you guys go?"

Char was silent.

"Charlotte where did you both go?" Alex seethed from the other side of the line.

"We went to a party." She blurted out.

"A what?" Alex asked.

"A par-" He cut her off

"I heard you the first time! What the hell happened to Lexi? Where is she?" He asked.

"Um.... Lexi's....sort of...drunk, but it wasn't her fault! The guy made her drink the alcohol!" Char said.

Now, Alex was usually an easy going and calm guy. He didn't get angry a lot. He only did when it came to something like this.

"Where are you both? I'm coming to get you." Alex said trying to control his anger.

"You don't have to. I'm driving her back." Char said.

"You better not have drank anything." Alex said.

"Don't worry. I didn't." She hung up after that.

Alex placed his phone down on the coffee table and went out the door towards the driveway.

Thankfully the everyone was sleeping at this time. Well, Philip might be awake but he is mostly in his office.

After waiting for what felt like forever, he finally saw Char's car pulling up.

He could see Lexi rambling about something to Char and from the look on her face it wasn't anything good.

Char said something to Lexi before she got out and went towards Alex.

"Alex, don't be mad. It wasn't her fault." She said as soon as she was close enough.

"What exactly happened?" He asked her.

Char let out a breath before she began explaining, "It's partly my fault that she's in this state because I made her come with me to the party. When we arrived there, she went to the kitchen where there was this guy who managed to make her drink some alcohol. She didn't have that much, just a few cups. As soon as I saw it, I went to her immediately and took her outside. But she is a little drunk right now. And she's very sad."

"Sad about what?" Alex asked her.

"You should see for yourself." She gestured to the passenger side of the car where Lexi was crying silently again.

Alex went to the car side and opened the door.

"Lexi?" He called her.

Lexi lifted her head from her hands and looked at him. After a minute of just staring at him, she started crying again.

"Hey, hey, Lexi. What happened? Why are you crying?" He asked her.

"I don't want mom to die!" She yelled at him.

Alex stole a panicked glanced at the house to make sure no one woke up. After know no one did he turned his attention back on Lexi.

"Lexi, mom's not gonna die."

"You can't say that!"

"Calm down. Nothing will happen to her." Alex said as he reached over and unbuckled the seat belt.

"You don't know that." She mumbled.

Alex didn't say anything and just told her to come out of the car.

Lexi sniffed once and stepped out of the car. Suddenly she felt light headed and lost her balance.

Alex stepped forward to catch her before she fell.

"Are you okay?" He asked her.

"I feel dizzy." She mumbled.

Alex nodded and put her arm around his shoulders. He looked at Char and said, "You should go home. I've got her."

"Are you sure?" She asked him.

"Yeah. Go home. Your parents might be worried." He said. Char nodded and went inside the driver's side of the car.

After waving at Alex, she went inside and drove away.

"Come on, Lex. You need sleep." He said to Lexi as he began to walk to the pool house.

"But, I'm not tired." She whined at him.

"Still you need to sleep this off. You'll feel better in the morning."

Lexi didn't say anything and let him pull her to the direction of the pool house.

After some time, they finally reached there and Alex pulled the covers back of Lexi's bed and told her to lie down.

She did so without complaining and Alex pulled the covers over her.

This is easier than I thought it would be. Alex thought.

"We lost two of the most important people in our lives didn't we?" She asked him.

I spoke too soon. He thought again

"Lexi, we didn't lose anyone."

"Who said that?" She asked as she sat up in a sitting position.

"Lexi, you need to sleep. We'll talk about his in the morning, okay? Please sleep." Alex pleaded as he sat on her bed.

"No! I want to know who told you that we didn't lose anyone. We don't let our father in our lives and our mother is about to-"

"Lexi calm down."

"How can I?" She asked as she started to cry again.

"Stop crying."

"How? Am I not allowed to cry when I just realized that we don't have our parents in our lives?"

"It's not that. You're crying for no reason. You need to sleep and then in the morning you'll feel a little bit better. Okay? Then we'll talk."

"I'm not crying for no reason! I'm crying because I don't have my mom! Or my dad!"

Alex looked at her shocked. This was the first time she called him that.

"Lex..." Alex said as he leaned forward and wrapped his arms around her. Lexi hugged him back and sobbed on his shoulder.

For the first time, Alex didn't knew how to clam her down. If she was angry at something it would have been a little bit easier because he had dealt with that a lot of times to count.

But now, it was completely different. The opposite actually.

He turned his head to kiss her forehead and rubbed her back as she continued to sob.

"I just don't want to lose any one of them." Lexi said after some time.

And just like that, Alex knew what he had to do. He let go of Lexi and cupped her face after removing some strands of hair from her face.

"Hey." He said making her look at him. "Stay here okay. I'll be back in a minute."

"Where are you going?" She asked him with a broken voice.

"I'll be back. I'm just going to the main house." He placed another kiss on her forehead and went to the main house.

He opened the door of the study he's become all to familiar with.

Philip looked up from his papers to look at the person who came in and was surprised to find Alex.

"Alexander? It's almost 2am in the morning. What are you doing up so late?" He asked him.

"Um....I need you to came with me." Alex said.

Philip looked at him and asked, "Why? Is everything okay?"

"It's Lexi."

Philip immediately stood to his feet asking, "Is she okay?"

Alex proceeded to tell him what had happened during the past hour as they walked towards the pool house and Philip was shocked.

"Where is she?" He asked Alex after he was done explaining. By now they had reached the pool house.

Alex pointed to the door that lead to their room and said, "I'll wait out here."

Philip nodded and went inside the room where Lexi was laying on her bed looking in thought but not crying.

He came in and sat down on her bed.

"Alexis?" He called her.

Upon hearing her name, she looked up from her pillow and smiled when she saw who was with her.

"Daddy!" She yelled excitedly like a little kid and hugged him.

Philip froze in place with his eyes wide. He was happy and surprised because he heard his daughter call him her dad for the first time.

So this is how it feels. He thought.

He snapped out of his shocked state and wrapped his arms around her as well, hugging her back.

She snuggled into his chest and hugged him tightly.

"Alexis, what happened at the party you went to?" He asked her.

"I'm sorry dad. It was that guy's fault. He mixed something in my drink and I didn't notice it." She told him.

Philip nodded and said, "You need to sleep this off you know that right?"

"Alex told me that too. But I'm not tired."

"Try to go to sleep at least?" He asked.

She lifted her head from his chest and nodded. She lied back down on her bed and Philip pulled the comforter over her.

A few minutes after she closed her eyes, she opened then again and said, "I can't sleep."

"Why not?"

"I have a question." She said.

Philip was silent for a few seconds then nodded his head and asked, "What question?"

"Why did you leave?" She asked in a trembling voice as her eyes filled with tears again.

Philip looked taken aback by her question. When he didn't say anything, Lexi continued, "I remember when you used to come over every week. You loved us. You were there when we needed you up until the age of four or five. You even gave me the nickname, 'my little princess'. So why did you leave?"

Philip was staring at the bed sheets for a minute. He lifted his head and asked,"Do you want to hear a story?"

Lexi crossed her arms and pouted. "I'm not a kid anymore." She said.

Unfazed by her behavior, Philip said, "You want to hear this one. Trust me."

Lexi's eyes widen and she scooted forward, uncrossing her arms.

"Tell me." She said.

Philip sighed and started his story.

"I remember when I first met your mom. I was a teenager at the time and so was she. Our fathers were close, kinda like friends. Because of that your mom and I met each other quite often. But it was always about business. Nothing less, nothing more. When her family was murdered, I didn't know where she went or how she was. And then my company got bankrupt. I was under a lot of stress and I didn't understand what to do. So I went to a bar to get away from everything-"

"Where you met mom again." Lexi said cutting him off.

Philip nodded and continued, "I met your mom again and I expressed my sympathy for happened to her family. We talked for a little bit at the bar while we were drinking. We had a lot to drink. One thing led to another. She told me that it was a mistake and I agreed to it. When I told Sophie about it, she punched me in the face and didn't talk to me for five days straight. Eventually she forgave me but then Anna told me that she was pregnant. That led to me being punched twice in the face by Sophie. I knew she'd come around so I let her have some space. Harris and the others didn't know anything about it."

"You mean you kept us a secret?" Lexi asked cutting in again.

"Sort of. Anyway, I still came over to you mother, made sure she had everything she needed and then you both were born. It's true that I came over to visit three time a week, sometimes four."

"What changed then? Why did you stop?"

"I started to receive threats from the gang I took the loan from. I was under stress again and they didn't give me enough time to pay them back. I'm still receiving threats from them and I didn't want you guys to get involved. But it happened anyway and I'm sorry for that."

Lexi didn't say anything. She just leaned forward and hugged her father again. This time she mumbled,"I love you."

Philip did a double take on that.

Did I hear that right? He asked himself.

"What?" He asked Lexi only to find her asleep.

He looked back at the door to call Alex when he saw him standing at the door when his arms crossed.

"Yeah. I'm still here." Alex said when he saw the look on his face.

He came inside and untangled Lexi's arms from around Philip and laid her in bed. He pulled the covers over her.

"Did I hear that right?" Philip asked still in shock.

"Yeah, you did. About the 'story' you told, is all of it true?" Alex said.

"Yes. All of it."

So that means that mom started doing drugs because it was her choice. Alex thought.

"Alexander?" Philip called and Alex looked at him.

"I'm sorry... For everything." He said. He didn't give Alex a chance to reply as he stood up and left.

{End of Flashback}

"Lexi woke up this morning with a hungover and when I told her what had happened the previous night she said, she didn't want to come today." Alex said.

Silence surrounded them for a couple of minutes before Anna asked, "Is she okay now?"

"She took some tablets to cure her hungover and went back to sleep again." Alex replied.

His mother looked at him with raised eyebrows.

Seeing her expression, Alex said, "I know. Very unlike her but she said she didn't feel good so she went to sleep."

"Do I have to worry about this happening again?"

"Nope. Not at all. She said that she doesn't want to go to a party ever again. Much less drink." Alex told her.

Anna chuckled and nodded.

"She did say that she was sorry. For not coming and to get drunk." He added.

His mother nodded.

Silence hung in the air as they both knew what Alex was about to asked.

"Mom-" Alex started but Anna cut him off.

"I know what your going to ask." She said.

"Then answer the question. Philip didn't betray you did he?" He asked.

Anna wasn't expecting this question at all. She was expecting him to ask about why she started to do drugs.

"No he didn't." She said after a minute. "It was you both who started to assume that. I tried to tell you about it but then you both would be like, 'Mom! We know what happened. He left you in the time of need.' So I decided that explaining it would be a fatal attempt."

"You could have you know? It wasn't as harsh as we thought it would be. We were naïve little kids who wanted to protect our mom. You could have cleared the confusion."

"You never let me." Anna shrugged indifferently.

Alex opened his mouth to say something but then shut it closed knowing it was true.

"Then why the drugs? Why did you put yourself through it all?" He asked instead.

Anna sighed, knowing this was coming. "Alex, what did you turn to when everything around you got too much? What did you do?"

Alex looked down and said, "I started drinking and smoking."

"That was the exact reason why I did what I did. I know I shouldn't have but I didn't know what to do at the time."

"And the second time?"

"It was a mistake. It wasn't supposed to happen, but then I saw Philip again and all of the memories of how I raised you guys alone came back to me and I felt sad. I wanted it go away so I started doing it again."

Alex shook his head at her reply.

"Mom, that is the worst excuse ever." He said.

"I know. But it's true." Anna reached over and grabbed his hand. "Alex, please forgive me for what I did. I am not a good mom and I know that. I just want to tell you that if the situation was different, this wouldn't have happened. I'm sorry I made your lives miserable." She said.

Alex stood up and sat on the bed in front of her. "It's not your fault mom. I know that if the situation was different this wouldn't have happened. But it did. Lexi and I, we both can't stay mad at you. Even for a second."

He leaned forward to kiss her on the forehead. "It's because we love you a lot. You made countless sacrifices for us and now look at us. We're happy where we are mom."

Anna sniffed and slapped his hand. "You made me cry again." She said.

Alex chuckled and asked, "Love you?"

"Love you too." Just then the door of Anna's hospital room opened and her doctor walked in saying that it was time for Alex to leave and for Anna to take her medication.

Alex stood up again and said, "Don't asked Lexi about the drunken scenario tomorrow. She won't like it and you know it too."

Anna laughed and nodded. Alex placed one last kiss on her forehead before leaving.
