The saddest part about being with someone is realizing how insignificant you are without them. Days pass and your grin fades, you withdraw from the world, and you gradually lose your identity.

Dove hasn't woken up in two days. Today is the day she should wake up. I've been sitting close to her, holding her hand. Everyone else is also there in the room. Milo, Chase, Josie, Pearl, and even Mrs.Miller.

Chase wondered aloud, "Will she wake up right?"

"Unless she's genuinely dead," Josie adds, "of
course she'll wake up."

"Don't say that, Josie; he didn't do anything to upset you." Pearl is adamant.

Milo protests, "She's not going to die guys, so stop arguing."

The entire room fell silent once more. Mrs. Miller was sobbing quietly in the corner near Dove, Chase had his head down and didn't really say anything, and Milo was holding Pearl in his arms. He admitted to me and Chase at the start of the year that he had a crush on her.

"How could this happen?" Josie is the first to speak. "She wasn't like this at school and she wasn't with me or Pearl, and when we went to her house, her car wasn't in the driveway, so she must've been with you Ezra," Josie explained.

"It wasn't him," says a voice was heard whispering. That's when my finger brushed up against my own. "It wasn't him," she stated one more.

"Dove," I declare.
"Ezra," she said. I got up to get a better view.

Her face was less swollen and returning to its natural color. Her eyes, however, remained the eyes of the rain. I gave her a short kiss on the forehead and stepped aside, knowing that everyone else would have to get closer to her.

My face brightened as I saw hers brighten as everyone gave her hugs and talked to her, bringing smiles to everyone's faces. Chase was no longer gloomy, Josie was no longer enraged, Mrs. Miller and Pearl had stopped crying, and Milo was no longer as unhappy as he had been.

As I stood in the front corner, looking at Dove from afar, everyone was talking to her. I didn't take my gaze away from her for even a second. Dove took a look around and locked gazes with me. Her eyes twinkled and her smile became larger, which I had no idea she could accomplish. As she rolled her eyes, I flashed her a wink.

Dr.Wilson went through the automatic doors at that same moment.

"Wow, there appears to be quite a crowd. Would you like the guest to remain in the room while I speak with you, Dove?" The doctor inquires. Everyone looks at Dove, who shakes her head as if to say no, and then everyone looks back at the doctor.

"So, Dove, your surgery went well, and you'll be ready to go home in about a week; however, you'll need a lot of rest, and we'll give you medication to help with the back discomfort. You can go to school as long as you avoid sports and other physically demanding activities. In about a month, you'll be able to resume your daily activities. If you have any concerns, please return to the hospital as soon as possible." Dr. Wilson elucidates.

"Thank you," Dove says quietly enough for everyone to hear.

"Okay, I'll be checking on you every day; if you need anything from me, call a nurse outside the doors"According to Dr.Wilson. Everyone nods in agreement, and the Doctor walks away.

"Well, I have to get going; at the very least, you'll be better before the holidays." Josie declares.

"Yeah! We'll have a great time then." Pearl concurs. Dove sits up a little higher and gestures for them to hug her.

"Thank you so much, everyone; I'll see you soon." Dove explains. Both girls nod and start walking out the door.

"Same with me, Dove; I have guitar practice; please accept my apologies; I'll see you tomorrow." Milo expresses himself.

"No problem, Milo; I'll see you tomorrow." Dove was aware of the situation.

When Milo stepped out, the room fell silent completely. There were just three of us in the room: me, Chase, and Dove. Chase was standing near Dove, his gaze fixed on the ground. I'm guessing he zoned out.

Dove gave me a worried expression. I shrugged since I had no idea what's going on. Dove motioned for me to approach him. I shook my head and motioned for her to contact him. We argued back and forth about who should say something.

"You're not very good at whispering, are you?" Chase's voice is heard. Dove has an irritated expression on her face as she looks at me.

Dove inquires, "Hey Chase, are you all right?" When Chase finally lifts his head, his gaze is drawn to Dove.

"You're not going to do that to me, okay?" Chase remarked.
Dove ponders, "What do you mean?"

"You can't just be on the verge of death." I was terrified. You're the only one of my friends that truly understands me." Chase looks at me and apologizes. However, a sorrowful smile appears on my face. Chase returns his attention to Dove.

"Please don't leave me, Dove," Chase expresses his concern. Dove's eyes well up with tears.

"I'm here Chase, and I'm not leaving anytime soon." Dove encircles Chase and pulls him into a hug.

I'm aware of their friendship , yet it feels strange at this time. "Well, guess what? I was chosen to compete in the Golden Star Race as one of 30 participants. It's a competition in which 30 competitors compete for the Golden Star award. This is something I've been looking forward to my entire life." Chase clarifies.

"Congratulations Chase," Dove says, "I know you'll get it, don't worry." Chase hasn't even informed me or Milo that he's involved in this. We have a habit of telling each other everything. Things just seem to come apart at times, I think.

A noise comes upon in the room. Chase pulls his phone from his pocket and scans it. "This is my mother texting." "I have to get home, she's figured out I'm failing my history" Chase clarifies. "I'll see you later, guys. Princess, I hope you're feeling better." Chase blows a kiss as he starts to rush out the door.

"Wait Chase" Dove holds out her hand. "Why didn't you tell me we're in the same history class." Dove states

"I didn't want to put to much on you. Your in the hospital and you already have lots to deal with." Chase explains.

"I'm sorry Chase. I help you study for the next test. I'll be out of the hospital by then." Dove says.

"Thanks Dove so much, but I still gotta go. Talk to you later Ezra" Chase walks quickly out the room.

I walk up to Dove and place my hand on her cheek. "Hi Baby, how you feeling."

"Could be better. Sit." Dove scoots over as she pats the room next to her. "So what have you been up to. How's Asher." Dove doesn't know I've been here everyday so there wasn't anytime for me to socialize. I sit down gently next to her as she brings her head in the crook of my neck.

"I've called my mom. I told her about you, she really wants to meet you and Ashers doing good. He's with my Mom in Florida now, and I talked to him and he misses you also." I state.

"Mhm," Dove says, leaning in close to peck my lips. "I missed him as well, but you were the one I missed the most."

She goes in for another kiss this time with more lust. I pull away. "Are you sure, you just woke up from 2 days surgery."

Dove hands are on my shirt, tugging at it. "Yeah, now stop treating me like so fragile toy, and kiss me." She says.
I remove my shirt and lay my lips to hers, our tongues lapping together. My hands creep beneath Dove's gown and to her breasts. As I place my hands on her breast and rub her nipples, I see she isn't wearing any clothing underneath.
Dove's soft strawberry lips brush against mine as my tongue enters her mouth, I sweep it across her lower lip. I want to badly to take my pants off, but that would make Doves condition worse when she should be resting.

I groan when Doves hands squeezes my growing. I place my hands on Doves thigh, as she moves in to for a lazily kiss. Gosh someone's needy.

My kisses move to her neck as I suck to leave a my mark. "I miss you so much." Dove says whispering against my ear. Then I go back in kissing her lips. She moans, having the effect when I jerk my head back and groan, having our lips part.

We shouldn't be doing this at all right now, yet it feels like a million years since I last tasted her lips. I didn't care about the doctors outside the door or the messages I was getting from Milo,
all I wanted was her right now. This make out session was the only thing on my mind. My attention was drawn to Dove, the woman who had made a real difference in my life.

The smile that appeared on Doves face when we finally broke apart, was the only thing that had me wanting more.

"Not right now." I say.

"But-." She scoffs

"Not today." I object again

"Okay." Dove backs I watch her cheek bones rise from the side as she turns away from me.

"Okay." I agree.

"I could have done more, but then you'd have to have another surgery." I say. Dove gently turns back to face me, her eyes wider than they've ever been.

"Ezra Grey ," Dove became enraged.

"That's the name you'll be calling out for." Doves gag slaps on my chest. My face lights up with a smile. I rise to kiss her on the lips. I've never felt this strongly about a girl before.
