THE WHOLE BUILDING WAS SILENT. The only sound was my heavy breathing. I made my way upstairs, looking around for any traps.

I walked down the hall to the Home Ed room, and I saw the door was standing open. I stepped into the room to see Leah sitting on top of a table with Jax behind her with a gun trailing up and down her arm.

Jax looked the same except for the dark rings underneath his eyes or the weight he lost.

"I'm here, Jaxon. Let her go," I said, taking a step closer towards them.

He shook his head,"Not quite yet. We have things to discuss. Sit." He pointed to a stool right in front of Leah. I sat down, not letting them out of my sight.

"What do you want to talk about?" I asked him, calmly.

"I told you that I wanted to make you suffer. I told you that I wanted you to feel the pain I felt," he said, walking around the table with the gun still in his hand.

"That's correct," I said, trying not to show my fear.

"While I was sitting in a cell, I was thinking of a plan to get you back. Then an idea popped in my head," he said with an evil smile as he got closer to me. He put his arms on either side of home, trapping me.

"I want you to choose," Jax whispered, making me look at him confused.

"Choose what?" I asked him.

He titled his head,"I want you to choose who dies tonight."

I frowned, and I shook my head,"No. I'm not going to do that."

"Tsk. Tsk. Tsk. See if you don't choose, I'm going to kill everybody you care about. If you choose, I'll only have to kill one person. See where I'm getting at?" He asked, backing away from me.

"Why are you making me do this? Like I told you, if I could go back and change what happened, I would," I asked him, standing up from my chair.

"You think you lost everything, but I'm here to show you that you have so much to loose!" Jax said, and in a swift motion, he slapped me.

"Campbell!" Leah exclaimed as I recovered from his slap. My cheek is now on fire, and I could already feel the mark he left.

"You see, I lost everything! You haven't! How is that fair?!" Jax exclaimed, grabbing me by my wrists, tightly.

He didn't have the gun in his hand. I glance over to the table to see it was there. I can get Leah out. I just have to distract him.

"Jax, your mother wouldn't want this," I said, shaking my head.

He brought my face close to his. "How would you know?"

"I read articles on your mother's death. She owned the bookstore three blocks from your house. Everybody around her said she was a kind and thoughtful soul. She wouldn't want you to hurt me or my loved ones. I think you know that deep down, too," I explained as his grip on my wrists tighten even more.

"My mother was always one for justice for what's right. Hurting you is the right thing to do," Jax said before throwing me on the ground.

I fell on my butt, and he stood over me. I quickly raised my leg, and I kicked him in the lower stomach. He groaned, holding his stomach.

"Leah! Go! Run!" I yelled, making Leah get off the table.

She ran out of the room, and I released a deep breath I didn't realize I was holding. I tried to run around the other tables, but Jax stood in front of me.

He grabbed me by my upper arms, and he had the gun in one hand. Fear started to creep up my spine, but I wouldn't let Jax see it.

"Where are we going?" I asked him as we left the classroom.

"We are going to find your sister, and you are going to choose between her and your mother, Lisa," Jax said, making all the color from my face drain.

I shook my head,"No. I won't choose. You're a disgusting human being, and I hope you rot in hell."

In a second, he had me against the lockers with his hand around my throat. His grip wasn't tight like it was the last time he attacked me, but he had me where I couldn't move.

"Don't tempt me. I won't hesitant to throw you down the stairs," Jax said before grabbing ahold of my arm again.

"Leah! Come out!" Jax yelled as we walked down the hallway.

"She isn't dumb. She's not going to come out, and that's if she is even here," I told him with a scowl.

He gave me an angry look before yelling out,"Leah, come out or I will shoot your sister!"

My eyes widen, and I struggled against his hold. I was about to yell out for her to stay hidden when he covered my mouth with his hand that was holding my arm.

The only reason I didn't try to run was because the gun in his other hand that was at my hip.

We,slowly, made our way downstairs. Once we were on the platform before the second case of stairs, I took a chance and I bit his hand.

He released me, and I started to run. Before I could get down the first step, he pushed me, making me loose my balance. I went rolling down the stairs, covering my head, onto the cold floor.

I coughed as the pain from my sides throbbed. I heard Jax's footsteps behind me, and I rolled over to face him.

He pointed the gun at me. "You just won't give up. You ruined the fun. I guess the only thing left to do is to kill you."

My heart was beating so loud I couldn't think. This is it. Once he pulls that trigger, I'm gone forever. Everybody will be heartbroken.

I'm so sorry.

This is all my fault, though. It should end with me, so nobody else has to get hurt.

"Jax, don't," A familiar voice exclaimed. Jax looked to see where the voice was coming from, and he scowled.

I slowly raised my head up to see Brent. He stood with his hands in the air, in surrender, and he kept his eyes on Jax.

No, no, no. He shouldn't be here. God, he shouldn't be here. I didn't want anybody else to get hurt.

"What are you doing here, Brent?" Jax asked him, keeping me at gun point.

"Campbell sent me a goodbye text. I knew she was in trouble, so I contacted her mother. She has a tracking device on the car and Campbell's phone. I was already close so I came to see what's wrong," Brent explained, taking another step closer.

Jax tightened his grip on the trigger. "Aw, would you look at that, Campbell? Your prince in shining armor has appeared."

"Just leave him alone, Jax. I'm the one you want," I said before coughing again.

"You're right, for once," Jax said, returning his focus on me.

"Wait, wait! Don't shoot her! I'm the one you want!" Brent exclaimed, taking another step closer. Jax looked at Brent with furrowed eyebrows.

"You want her to suffer like you did," Brent stated before continuing,"Shoot me. I'm her first love, and I assure you once I'm gone, Campbell will be heartbroken. I'm your eye for an eye. So shoot me, not her."

My eyes widen, and I tried to get up, but my sides were against the idea. Tears welled in my eyes in sadness and angry.

"No, Jax, don't listen to him. Please. Shoot me! Shoot me!" I begged as tears rolled down my eyes.

Jax gave me one last glance before turning the gun towards Brent. My breathing stopped. I shook my head, slowly getting off the ground.

Brent doesn't deserve to die because of me. He already got shot once, and  put into an included coma. He can't die because of me. I won't let it happen.

"No! Please! Don't!" I screamed at Jax who just smirked at me.

"It's okay, Campbell," Brent said as we made eye contact. His eyes were glossy. "I love you."

And then a gunshot went off, ringing in my ears forever.
