"CAMPBELL," Madison's voice said before I felt her poke me in the cheek. "Campbell."

I groaned, rolling over so my back faces her. I snuggled deeper into my pillow, trying to go back to sleep.

"I brought you coffee," Madison taunted, trying to get me out of the bed.

I cracked an eye open, and I rolled back over. I looked at her, and she had a plastic cup with coffee in it. I really want that coffee.

"Fine, you win," I huffed before throwing the blanket off of me.

She didn't give me the coffee until I stood up. When she handed me the coffee, I thanked her before taking a sip of it.

"We have lots to do today," Madison exclaimed with a bright smile.

"What's today?" I asked, rubbing my neck.

She gasped, dramatically,"It's homecoming! We have to start getting ready around one so we can take pictures and eat dinner at seven, and the dance is at nine."

"And you decided to wake me up at ten o'clock," I mumbled under my breath.

"Well, I know after the game last night, we were all exhausted, so I let you guys sleep in," Madison said as she walked over to my door.

Memories of last night flooded my head. We won the game by fourteen points, and afterwards, we went to eat at the diner. Then we came back here, and we watched movies.

"Is everybody still here?" I asked, looking around for Brent.

"Brent and Maya left two hours ago," Madison said, making my blood run cold.

Don't get me wrong, Maya and I are friends, but I still have my worries.

"Together?" I asked her, making Madison turn around to face me.

She shook her head,"No. Brent had to go home because of his parents, and Maya went to go get a coffee and go get her nails done."

I sighed in relief. I'm just overreacting, and I need to calm down before I make assumptions. Clary must have really got into my head Thursday if I'm acting like this.

"Okay," I replied before we walked downstairs. Nick and Nichole were still asleep on the couch, laying on top of each other.

Gaberial and Hailey were on the floor, awake, but they were talking to each other.

I don't see Micheal and Jordan anywhere nor Gavin. They must be up and walking around here somewhere.

"Where's everybody else?" I asked Madison as we walked into the kitchen.

"Gavin is in his room asleep, and Micheal and Jordan are outside."

I nodded before placing my coffee on the counter. Madison walked out of the kitchen to wake up Nichole once more, and I looked out of the sliding door to see Jordan laughing about something.

Then I felt an arm wrap around my waist. I flinched, looking behind me to see Brent standing there with a smile.

"Brent, you scared me," I said.

"Sorry, I thought you heard me," he apologized, drawing circles on my back with his fingers.

"You ready for tonight?" I asked him, changing the subject.

He nodded,"This will be my first homecoming dance."

I furrowed my eyebrows,"You never been?"

He shrugged,"I didn't like going to dances, like at all until you came around. The winter formal last year was actually my first dance."

This is new information to me. I thought Brent went to dances because he's a football player.

"Well, this is my first homecoming dance," I replied, wrapping my arms around his waist.

"I haven't even seen your dress, but I know you are going to look beautiful in it."

"My gosh, how whipped can you be?" Nick asked, walking into the kitchen.

"Aw, Nicky, are you jealous?" Brent taunted, walking over to him.

"No, and what did I say about that nickname?" Nick asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Hashtag Brick forever," I said making a hashtag with my arms.

"Hahaha," Nick faked laughed.

"I'm going to go watch a movie," I told them before walking out of the kitchen.

I walked into the living room, and I plopped down on the couch next to Nichole who was starting to wake up.

"I hate dance days," Nichole groaned, uncovering her eyes from her hair.

"You say that now, but tonight is going to be amazing," I said, switching on a movie.

Oh boy was I wrong...

"You look gorgeous!" Leah told me as I showed her my whole look on the phone.

I was in my dress with my silver heels. My hair was was in a bun with a braid going to the side. I had on foundation, concealer, mascara, light brown eyeshadow, and dark red lipstick to match my outfit.

"Thank you!" I exclaimed, grabbing the phone off of my desk.

"You look pretty, Campbell," Grace said behind Leah.

I gave her a tight smile,"Thanks."

"Campbell, let's go. We have to take pictures and still go eat," Madison said, knocking on my door.

"Okay," I called out.

I looked back at the phone, and I smiled,"I gotta go, but I'll call you tomorrow."

"Alright. I love you," Leah said, blowing me a kiss.

I returned the kiss,"Love you too."

The phone call ended, and I grabbed my small silver purse from my bed. I put my phone in the bag before walking downstairs to see everybody waiting on me.

"Wow, you look, wow," Brent said when he saw me. His eyes widen, and he looked stunned. He was dressed in a black tux with a dark blue tie to match my dress.

"You look amazing!" Madison exclaimed with a happy grin.

She went for a natural look with her hair straighten. Jordan was in a dark navy blue two piece that showed a tiny bit of her stomach. Her hair was a flower crown, and she also went natural on makeup.

Nichole had her hair in a fishtail braid, and her makeup was smokey. Then Hailey had her hair in a flower crown also with natural makeup. Lastly, Maya had her hair curly with bold makeup.

"You all look so beautiful," Mom said, clapping her hands together. "Now it's picture time!"

After about one hundred pictures, we finally went and ate at the diner like usually. I wasn't really hungry so I just got a vanilla milkshake and french fries.

We spent the whole time laughing and cracking jokes. When we left the diner, it was nine o'clock. It's finally time to go to the homecoming dance.

"Hey, um, after the dance, there is something I need to tell you. Something important," Brent said, quickly looking over at me before looking back at the road.

I frowned,"Okay...is everything alright?"

"It is. I just have something I need to tell you," Brent said as we pulled up to the school.

He quickly parked, and we got of the car. Brent threw an arm over my shoulders as we made our way to the entrance where our group was waiting.

"It's time to party!" Maya exclaimed before opening the doors.

We walked inside of the gym to see tables everywhere. Then there was decorations hanging everywhere you look. A photo booth was set up by the entrance with multiple props. There was also two long tables filled with drinks and food. It was beautiful. A pop music was playing that made me want to dance.

"Come on, let's go dance," I grabbed Brent's arm and led him to the dance floor.

We danced for multiple songs until we were out of breath. Brent handed me a cup filled with punch, and I took a long sip of it.

"You know, I still think I'm the better dancer," Brent joked, making me smile.

"In your dreams," I retorted, making him laugh.

"I'm glad you're having fun," Brent said, but his smile faltered.

"What's wrong?" I asked him.

"Nothing. I just realized that this is our last high school homecoming," Brent said, but he couldn't meet my eyes.

He was lying. Why would he lie to me?

"I'm going to find the girls and dance with them," I said before throwing my empty cup in the trash can.

I went through the crowd, and I found the girls dancing. When they saw me, they quickly dragged me into the circle. We took pictures in the photo booth, and the boys joined us. Once we were all done, we went back to the dance floor.

About thirty minutes have passed of our dance fails when the music stop. Hailey walked onto the stage with a medium sized envelope in her hand.

"Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, I hope you are all having fun!" Hailey said and we all cheered. When the applause cooled down, she said,"It is time to announce your homecoming king and queen!"

Everybody clapped once more. I think Maya would be a great homecoming queen. I hope she gets it.

"Your homecoming king and queen are..." Hailey said before opening the envelope. Her eyes went wide with a smile as she said,"Brent Mason and Campbell West Cade."

My eyes widen in surprise as everybody cheered and clapped. I was frozen to the ground.

"H-how?" I stuttered, looking over at our friend group.

"Pretty sure our friends put in our names in the ballot," Brent whispered before taking my hand.

We walked up the steps, and Hailey and another girl put on our crowns and sashes. We looked back at the crowd, and we smiled at them as they still clapped for us.

"You can't go on stage!" A voice said, and I looked to the right to see Clary walking over to us. She had an angry scowl on her face. She grabbed the microphone from Hailey, and she cleared her throat.

"Wow! Congrats Campbell and Brent! You two deserve it!" Clary said, sarcastically, making the audience go silent.

My smile dropped, and I held Brent's hand tighter to ease my anxiety.

"But I just can't see how people would vote for a pathetic bitch and a huge hypocrite," Clary said, dropping her fake smile.

"Clary, that's enough," Brent said, taking a step closer to her.

"Oh, Brent. The most perfect boy ever who never lies! Well, let me tell you folks, that's completely bullshit!" Clary announced, looking at the audience.

"You see, Campbell is Brent's first love or so everybody thought, including Campbell herself. No, you see for three years Brent had a lover named Maya Walker!" Clary said, making my heart drop.

I saw Maya making her way up the stairs out of the corner of my eye. I looked at Clary with a scowl on my face.

"You're lying, Clary. That's what you do. You lie to try and make yourself feel better," I said, but deep down I had a feeling she was telling the truth.

She smirked,"Am I? Ask him yourself."

I rolled my eyes before looking at Brent. She's lying, I told myself. That was until I saw Brent's guilty face.

And ladies and gentlemen that's when my heart completely shattered.

I gasped and tears welled in my eyes. "No."

"It's not what you think," Brent said, starting to walk towards me. I took a step back.

"Campbell," Maya said, softly, behind me.

I shook my head,"No." Then I noticed everybody's eyes on me.

I quickly descended down the stairs and I heard Clary behind me say,"She was his first kiss, first date, first everything. And when I mean everything, I mean everything!"

I pushed the double doors open, and I felt like I couldn't breath. My whole body was in pain. I can't believe he would lie to me. It started to rain once more, and I had tears rolling down my face.

"Campbell! Wait!" I heard Brent's voice yell behind me.

He, gently, grabbed my wrist, sending me spinning around. I scowled at him, and he looked hurt when he saw the tears on my face.

"How could you?! After everything we have been through! How could you lie to me!" I screamed at him, pulling my wrist from his grip.

"Maya and I were just a fling!" Brent exclaimed, but I shook my head.

"So three years is just a fling to you! Did you sleep with her?!" I asked him, remembering what Clary said as I was exiting.

"Yes, but-" he was cut off by me.

"You told me you never done it before! I can't believe you! I thought we told each other everything!" I screamed at him as my voice cracked.

"Please just let me explain," he begged, but I shook my head.

"You know, you had me fooled! I thought you were the one person I could trust out of anybody on this Earth! Turns out I was wrong!" I yelled at him before continuing to walk away from him.

"Maya and I broke up the summer before you came! Nobody knew about our relationship except Nick!" Brent yelled, making me stop walking.

Do me a favor. Please don't break his heart.

I remember Nick telling me that months back, and now it finally makes sense. He also lied to me. To everybody.

"So what, I was just a rebound to you?!" I yelled, turning back to face him.

He shook his head,"No, God no! You are much more than a rebound to me! You are my other piece! My soulmate for crying out loud!"

"Soulmates don't lie to each other! Brent, you know that I don't trust people easily! You know that I don't let people in! You were the first person I let in, and you destroyed my trust!"

"Baby, please. Let's go somewhere quiet and talk, please," he begged, making my heart hurt even more.

"I can't do this. We're done, Brent," I said before walking away.

I called an Uber, and I waited on the stairs that were dry. I sat there crying, and somewhere deep down I hoped he would come find me and hold me while I cry.

He didn't.
