The Castle wasn't always the safest place for you to be. Lately, more and more foreigners accidentally stumbled upon the village, usually men who were out to hunt but eventually got lost in the thick forest. And those men weren't exactly pacifists, to say the least.

Since the castle was so... outstanding among everything else in view, they would usually seek it out first. That's why, most of the time, you would stay with your Aunt Donna when this happened. But now even Donna was troubled with these foreigners and since Alcina didn't trust you with either Karl or Moreau, she had no choice but to ask Mother Miranda to watch you. The blonde never fought the foreigners herself, she always commanded her children to do so.

Miranda had agreed with some slight reluctance. She was happy to take care of a child again after such a long time, but you weren't Eva... And you are technically her grandchild. The term still felt strange to her. Alcina's other daughters had barely been referred to as such, so it felt odd to be called a grandmother.

She'd picked you up early in the morning and it was planned that you'd stay with her until tomorrow. You continued babbling to no end all the way to her hideout, making the blonde woman chuckle as she saw how energetic you were.

"And Cassi is teaching me how to draw!" You say excitedly with a skip in your step.

"Oh really?" Miranda chuckles. "Could you draw something for me?"

"Yes!" You smile and take her hand, which takes her by surprise but she holds onto your hand a little tighter nonetheless. Soon, you arrive at what you presume is her home. It looks more like the cellar of the castle, though. Miranda leads you down a series of tunnels until you get to a relatively large room. Looking around, you see a couple of tables, bookcases and tons of paperwork with all kinds of weird drawings.

"You draw too?" You ask softly, pointing to a weird picture hanging on the wall.

The blonde woman nods."Something like that. I use it to create images of my research."

"What is research?" You question with a curious look on your face. Miranda thinks for a moment, because how do you explain that to a 6 year old?

"It's... what you do when you want to know something. For example, if you want answers to a question you have." She leads you to a nearby desk and lifts you onto the stool.

"And what is your question?" You continue to ask, seemingly very interested in her work. Miranda first decides to take her golden mask off and changes herself into her regular clothes with a lab coat.

The older woman then clears her throat. "I want to bring back someone I love."

"Who?"

"My daughter."

"I thought Mama was your daughter?"

"... She is."

"And Auntie Donna?"

"Also, yes."

"So you have another daughter?"

Miranda shakes her head in amusement, a smirk playing on her lips. She looks at you for a brief moment, and then takes a seat next to you. Curious little thing you are. "I did, yes. Her name was Eva."

"That's a bo- botiful... beautiful name."

"Thank you." Miranda smiles, laughing internally at seeing you struggle to say the word 'beautiful'. "Eva was my first daughter, just like Bela is the eldest of your family."

"Oh, what happened?" You keep asking. You didn't know much about Miranda because she barely visited. She also seemed strangely awkward around you at times. Now she seemed normal, though, so this was your time to ask about her.

"A long time ago, she got sick with the flu. She didn't survive it." Miranda stares at something that's behind you, her mind wandering elsewhere.

"And now you wanna bring her back?" Miranda nods gently. "How?"

Smiling, the blonde answered. "That's not something you need to be concerned about." You pout but nod anyway. She grabs a few of her papers from the desk and swifly moves off the chair. "Now, I need to continue my work. What would you like to do?"

"Can I draw, please?" You ask politely. You already had a great idea of what you can make!

"Of course." Miranda smiles and starts looking for a piece of paper and some drawing utensils. Finding a paper in a nearby bookcase and a pencil on one of the other desks, she returns and hands it to you. "There you go. If there is anything else you need, just say so."

"Okay." You acknowledge softly and take the pencil and paper from her. With a small smile, you start to draw your idea. You try and make a drawing of Miranda with her priestess outfit on. The golden mask is hard to make, but Cassi told you to make difficult shapes easier. You add the huge wings on her back that you've seen only once, but you remember them vividly because you were in awe of them. You wanted wings too!

Taking a glance at the woman, you notice she is deeply focused on the microscope in front of her. Sometimes writing down notes on the paper to her right. You walk over to her, taking the drawing with you and you gently tug her lab coat. Miranda jolts up.

"Oh, Y/N, you scared me." Miranda huffs with a small smile of relief. She rotates her chair towards you. "What's the matter?"

You hold up the piece of paper you brought with you. "I made this for you." You say softly, handing her the paper which she takes with a raised eyebrow.

The drawing depicts Miranda in her priestess clothing, along with a few lycans and the words 'Granny' written in big letters above her head. It is clearly a child's drawing, but it's not even that bad.

Seeing 'Granny' written on the drawing made Miranda swallow for a moment, having to put her uncomfortable feelings aside. She then gives an amused hum and turns her attention back to you with a raised eyebrow. "And you made this all by yourself?"

You give a nod with your chin held high and a smile playing on your lips. "Well it looks amazing. Thank you, dear." Miranda says and looks around the room, before her eyes fall to a spot on the wall. It's perfect for your drawing.

Later that day, after having had dinner with Miranda and assisting her some more with her research, it's time for you to go to bed.

"Where do you sleep?" You questioned after not seeing a bed anywhere in her home. You had to stay the night here, so how can you do that if there is no bed?

"Well, I don't need any sleep." Miranda started to explain. "One of the many perks of my abilities. But I got you a nice place to sleep right here." She walks over to a bookcase and walks around it, revealing a small area where a bed had been made. It looked rather cozy and comfortable. "It's nice and dark here, plus you won't hear me working as much as the bookcase blocks out a lot of noise."

"Okay." You say softly, walking over to the bed.

"Will you be okay here?" Miranda asks sincerely. You give her a nod along with a smile as you pull back the covers and slip under it. "If there is anything you need, just call for me." She says before turning to leave.

"Grandma?" You say so quietly it is almost not audible, but the blonde haired woman heard it. You must have seen the word it made her a bit uncomfortable, the priestess thinks to herself.

"Yes?"

"Mama always tucks me in..." You tell her. Miranda hesitantly moves towards you with a small smile.

"Oh." She starts. "Should I tuck you in too?"

You give her a nod along with a hint of a smile. "Only if you want to!" You quickly add, making her chuckle.

"I'd love to, Y/N." The priestess makes her way around the bed, standing by the side. She tucks you in and you say a small 'thank you'. Miranda can't help but start to get nostalgic, she used to tuck her daughter in every night until the little girl died. The smile you gave her warmed her heart.

"Goodnight, sweetheart." Miranda said. Lingering for a small bit, she hesitantly moved to give you a kiss on your forehead before leaving to get back to her work. The smile you had on your face stayed there until you fell asleep.

The next day, you were led back to the castle by Miranda. You two were walking through the village with you holding her hand and skipping beside her, swinging her arm as you moved. The villagers all either hid or stared at Miranda in amazement as you two moved through the village. Some wondered whether or not she had just kidnapped you or if she suddenly found herself with a new daughter, while others already knew you were the child of Lady Dimitrescu as their daughters or sisters worked in the castle. Recognizing some of the maids, you gave them a small wave which they were all too quick to return.

"Are you happy to go home?" She asks with a curious look on her face.

"Yes!" You nod eagerly. "But your house was fun too." You softly add. You didn't say it because you felt like you had to, but because you genuinely liked it there. So many tools to make drawings! And you helped her with her research, which was so much fun to do!

"Perhaps you can visit more often, if you'd like?" The blonde raises an eyebrow at you as you two get to the drawbridge of the castle.

"Yes!" You cheer, already excited about visiting again. Soon you arrive at the castle. One of the maids opened the doors for you, letting you and Miranda pass through to the main hall. There you were greeted by Cassandra and your mother.

"Mama!" You exclaim before letting go of Miranda's hand and rushing over to your mom. With the biggest smile, she picks you up and immediately hugs you.

"Hi, my darling." She coos, stroking your dark hair and placing a kiss in your hair. You make grabby hands towards Cassandra so you can give her a hug too. "Cassie!"

"There she is, my little demon." Cassandra laughs, taking you from Alcina. The tall woman gave her second eldest daughter a glare for calling you that but you loved the nickname. You look around the room and the brunette immediately knows who you are looking for. "Lulu is with Bela. She's looking for anyone who got left behind."

"Thank you for looking after her, Mother Miranda." Alcina turned to the priestess, who was staring at the scene before her with a warm smile.

"It was not a problem at all." She assures, her eyes still fixed on you and Cassandra. Cassandra was making funny faces which made you giggle. "Y/N was extremely well behaved, I must say."

"I'm very glad to hear that, Mother." Alcina answers and the two of them continue to talk about what happened with the strangers and the attack while you were playing with Cassandra.

Suddenly bored with Cassie, your attention turns back to Miranda. You wiggle to get your brown haired sister to set you down at the ground, which she finally did after you said 'please' to her. You turn to walk over to Miranda, looking up at her.

"Thank you for letting me stay over, Granny." You say with the brightest smile she has ever seen before you crash into her, wrapping your arms around her legs and hugging her tightly. The priestess was taken by surprise for a moment, but that had happened a lot in your presence as of late so she swiftly recovered herself and hugged you back. She bent over a little bit and whispered to you.

"And thank you for the beautiful drawing, dear." With a content smile, you let go of her and run up the stairs to find Daniela to play with. Getting distracted easily seemed to become a regular occurrence for you as you grew up. The Priestess says her goodbyes and is about to leave, but she sees you at the top of the stairs. You give her a wave to say goodbye before running to the library to find Dani.
