Mia's eyes shifted to her table clock from the case file in front of her and she winced when she saw the time. She closed the file and picked her bag, she needed to start setting an alarm clock to drag her from work so she could go for lunch.

She picked the file and as she stepped out from behind her desk, her office door opened and Zander walked in smiling at her.

"I figured you'd still be here." He said, "You always forget yourself when you're working."

Mia smiled guiltily.
"I was just heading out for lunch."

He nodded.
"I'd ask to join you but I have things to take care of." He said

"Oh, that's fine." Mia said "I..."

"She's having lunch with me."

Mia's gaze shifted from Zander to her open-door where Fred stood in all his domineering masculinity.

Damn, she found it sexy.

Zander turned to look at him, Fred's gaze was fixed on Zander before he found hers. She almost sighed as the air between them zinged. Her breathing had already picked up and she didn't notice when Zander left the room. Her gaze didn't leave Fred for a second and she felt her chest tighten as he closed the distance between them.

"Hi." She said breathlessly

Fred smiled at her
"Hey, beautiful."

She held her breath when he leaned closer and placed a soft kiss on her cheek, she sighed inaudibly when he pulled away, her face heating up and her heart feeling like it was going to explode in her chest. She lifted her gaze to Fred's and found him watching her.

Fred loved every reaction he could get out of her. Every single one of them. He loved the little smiles she had on and the sounds she made.

"Ready?" He asked

She stared at him confused and he smiled at how cute she looked
"Hmm?"

"Lunch." He said, "I came to pick you up." He said

"How...? I..."

"I called but you didn't pick up." He said

"I'm sorry, I've been engrossed in work." She said "Trying to make my last week count."

"You're amazing, you know that." He said

Mia smiled.
Little compliments always had a way of making her happier than bigger gestures.
"We should go."

Fred smiled at her shyness.
"Alright."

A few minutes later, they were seated in the corner of their now favorite place with their usual.

Funny how they've spent little time together and already have their own thing.
Mia thought.

"So, your last week." Fred said

Mia looked up from her drink at him and smiled.
"Yes." She said, "I'm not sure if I'm sad or relieved."

"Why?"

"Everyone there is so sweet and nice. I'm going to miss them." She said "Then there's..." She stopped and looked at Fred.

Fred waited.
"There's what?"

She looked away and shook her head.
"Nothing."

"Oh c'mon, you already started it, finish it."

She looked at him and continued.
"Zander." She said and Fred's happy mood left him "He's an amazing boss but since I started working there, he's been coming on to me and I haven't been able to do anything about it because he's my boss. If I did anything, I'd probably get fired."

Fred felt the tightening in his chest since the previous day being removed and he did everything he could to stop himself from smiling.

"So, I'm relieved that would be over after this week." She said, "Can't wait."

"I thought you had a thing for him." Fred said honestly.

"After what you saw yesterday, I assume." She said

Fred nodded.

"He was all up in my personal space and it was uncomfortable." She sighed.

Fred smiled and nodded.
"So you're going to be cramped with work this week uh?"

She nodded.
"I am." She said, "I had to ask Harry for the time off till I've taken the bar exam."

She watched him watch her.
"What?"

Fred shook his head
"Just wondering if you're going to ask me for the time off too."

She looked away and sighed.
"I-I guess I have to. I don't want anything distracting me from the exam."

"Distracting uh?" Fred said, "So, I'm a distraction."

"Not in a bad way." She said quickly "You make me forget all my troubles and no one has been able to do that."

Fred felt like he was on top of the world.
"So, I'm a good distraction." He said smiling and she nodded.

Fred reached across the table and took her hand in his. His thumb caressing the back of her hand as they both stared at their joined hands.

"Mia, that night, you said something about someone making you feel a particular way." He said looking up at her. "Who's it?"

Mia sighed, her shoulders moving. She looked up at him and just watched him.

Had he been thinking about it since that night?

"I'll tell you...after the exam."

Fred groaned.
"I can't believe you're making me wait."

Mia smiled.
"I can't believe I have to wait to tell you."

Fred rolled his eyes.
"It's not the same thing."

"It is." She said, "If you want, I'll build a case and we can take it up in court."

"You win." Fred said smiling "It is."

Mia laughed.
"You're a sore loser."

"I'll gladly be one anywhere you're concerned."

Mia felt her cheeks heat up as she sighed.
Oh, Fred, he had no idea what he was doing to her.

The week went by in a blur for both Mia and Fred as they met up every chance they could and talked about anything and everything. The last day of the month; their last day together before Mia's preparation for the bar exam, they didn't want to leave each other's company. When Fred finally dropped her off at midnight, Mia found it hard to leave. She sighed inwardly then leaned in and kissed him on the cheek before she stepped out of the car as quickly as she could. She ran up the apartment not daring to look back leaving him shocked.
