Fred went to Mia's apartment and when he knocked for a while he went to the café and when she wasn't there he knew where she was going to be. On his way to the library, he made a stop at a Chinese restaurant and a supermarket.

He arrived at the library at half past six with thirty minutes left before Mia had to close the library. He took the grocery bag and headed inside. He caught sight of her behind the counter, focused on something she was reading. He walked to the counter and was surprised she didn't bother to look up to see who it was which was something she did when she worked at the library before she left. Fred arrived at the counter and watched her for a second and looked at the book she was reading. He smiled and shook his head before he hit the call bell.

Mia looked up from her book and stopped.
"Fred."

"You should be aware of everyone who walks in, it's not safe to..."

"Harry installed a new system; anyone who tries to walk out with a book unchecked an alarm goes off."

"I meant to say it's not safe for you. If it wasn't a lurcher but someone dangerous."

She nodded.

"Brushing up?" He nodded to the book she was reading.

She closed the law book she had been studying.
"Something like that."

He smiled.
"I'm sorry I didn't call all day to inform you why I couldn't meet. Vincent called pretty early in the morning and I had to head to the office to put out the fire. We didn't want Andre getting word before it was fixed."

She smiled because she knew it wouldn't have been something less important for him to blow her off.

"You've got thirty minutes before you have to lock up, want to have dinner?"

"No one has been in for an hour, but yes, we can order something or head out to have dinner."

"Actually, I was wondering if we could head upstairs, I have dinner with me." Fred lifted the bag he was carrying.

"Oh," Mia said as she got up. "I should change the sign, so we can head upstairs."

Fred nodded and watched her walk to a shelf to return her book and to the door to lock it and change the sign. She headed his way.
"Let's go."

Fred walked behind Mia as they headed to the second floor and headed to the back, her favorite place in the library, where the floor to ceiling window was. When they arrived there, she sighed at the view. There was nothing happening tonight but it was still beautiful with all the lights.

"No carnival tonight," Fred said.

Mia turned to look at him and smiled.
He remembered.

Fred pulled out two chairs but just like the last time, Mia plopped up on the table to sit which made Fred smile.

"I hope you like Chinese." He asked.

"Pretty much."

Fred brought out everything from the bag including a bottle of wine and two recyclable cups which made Mia smile.

Fred caught her.
"What?"

She shook her head with the smile still on her face.
"You remembered."

"Of course, I do."

"You know..." Mia began as he poured wine into the cups. "that night was when I realized I had feelings for you."

Fred looked at her as he handed her a cup.

"Thank you." She said

"So, I was the one who gave you butterflies."

Mia chuckled looking away.
"You still do."

Fred was staring at her when she looked at him.

"Eat." He handed her a box with chopsticks.

"You're so polite." She took the box from him and dug in.

Fred took a seat on the chair on Mia's side which was turned to her. They ate in silence.

"What time do we leave?"

"Right after this." He said. "I'll drop you off so we can get your things."

"What about you?"

"My things are in the car; I packed this morning."

Mia shook her head.
"You're so...put together."

"And you're not?" He asked. "I bet you're already packed."

Mia opened her mouth but nothing came out, so she shut it.

Fred smiled.

They ate in silence for a while. Mia stared out the window and Fred stared at her.

"So, who's Richard?"

Mia groaned and dumped the box on the table then took a sip of the wine.
"He's a co-worker. We were working on a case together before I came here for the wedding. My boss didn't want me to leave but Richard assured her he could handle the case and that he'll keep me in the loop." She paused. "The final hearing is tomorrow and I'm looking forward to it."

"And he's just a co-worker?"

"And a friend, a very good friend."

Fred nodded slowly as Mia turned to look at him.

"He's just a friend, Fred."

"It really shouldn't be my business if you want to be with him."

Mia sighed and turned at the edge of the table so that she was facing him.
"There is no one I want to be with in that way." She said. "Except you."

Fred looked up at her from where he was seated.

"Last time, I found out about my feelings for you right here, and this time I'm sure about my feelings for you." She said. "Fred, you asked me to try and give us a chance. But I don't want to try, I want to make us work; as hard as that might be, I want to make it work because you're the only one I want to be with. You're the only one I've ever wanted to be with."

Fred just stared at her, thinking he was hearing what he wanted to hear.

"I love you." Mia said which snapped him out.

This was real, this was happening.

Fred reached out to place his box on the table next to Mia's as he got up. His hands hooked behind either of her knees and he pushed them apart and walked in between her legs, his hands moving from her leg up to her waist. One hand went up to her face and slid behind her neck, fingers hooking into her hair, he tilted her head that made her neck exposed and her mouth parted from the angle of her neck.

"You have no idea what you just agreed to." Fred growled.

"I think I do." Mia said.

"Let me give you an idea." He said before he leaned in and covered her mouth with his, his tongue slipped between her lips and met hers. Their tongues tangled and moved in a slow synced passion then their mouths closed over each other's before they sucked on each other's lips. Fred's teeth sinking in her bottom lip making her moan.

When he finally let her lips go, they stared at each other with fire in their eyes, the same time Fred reached to grabbed off the table was the same time Mia reached up and wrapped her hands around his neck as their lips met again, this time, deeper, harder and desperate as he backed her against one of the shelves. His hands slid to her ass and squeezed as her legs locked around him.

"Fred." Mia moaned.

"Fuck! Don't say my name like that. I'm already struggling to not rip your clothes off and fuck you right against this shelf."

They were both panting.

"But I want our first time to be slow. I want to take my time with you, learn everything there is about your body. What turns you on, what tickles you, what makes you scream in pleasure." He ground himself into her making her moan.

"You turn me on without even meaning to turn me on and my feet are ticklish. We can get started on the third one right away."

Fred laughed.
"You are just perfect for me."

"So, are you."

Fred placed his forehead against hers and they both came down from their high. He slid her down so she was standing on her own.
"We should get going."

Mia nodded.
"Let's."

They packed up, locked up, and headed to Mia's apartment before heading to the airport.
