Maddison Brooks

The morning sun streamed through my window into my room. Yesterday the rain had passed during the night and now the sun is up and not a single cloud in the blue sky. My body already ached in a way it hadn't done since Trevor took my virginity. Yet I had to be ready for the two hour dance practice since I've canceled so many times, I needed to be ready to give more than my everything.

Scrolling through instagram, that seems to get more boring with every passing day. "Maddie, breakfast!" Mom called from down stairs. My muscles strained when I tried to sit up before I just laid down on the mattress with a frustrated breath.

"I'm not hungry!" I shouted back when I continued scrolling through instagram that only made me more frustrated over the boringness and the bad choices I made yesterday. "Mom!"

"Yes Maddie?!"

"My head hurts, could you bring up a painkiller?" I lied. My head didn't hurt but my whole body ached. Needing to get the pain away so I can hundred percent concentrate on my dancing after skipping back.

"Sure sweetie!"

Hearing heavy steps go up the stairs before the door to my room opened. My father stepped inside, looking around in my small room knowing that he hadn't been here inside for years because he doesn't enjoy smaller spaces. His gray hair was brushed back and his work suit was on, showing that he was soon about to leave for work.

Lastly he looked down at me with a frown, deep wrinkles on his forehead. "Here." He mumbled, placing one Ibuprofen and a bottle of water on the small table next to my bed before walking out and closing the door after himself.

"Thanks..." I said to the closed door where my fathers heavy steps echoed from the stairs right outside my door. Breathing out through my nose when I sat up and leaned my back against the wall behind me. Taking the pill in my hand before throwing it to the back of my throat, doing my best not to gag up before I could swallow it down with water.

Continuing scrolling through social media, only stopping to post on my instagram while waiting until the pill had started working.

Once thirty minutes passed I could move without the ongoing ache in my body. It was still there and reminding me of yesterday's actions but not enough to stop me from moving and act as if that never happened, because it didn't.

Nothing happened.

"How is your head?" Max asked when I got downstairs. Both Charles and my brother sat in the couches. Charles simply looked at me before looking back at the TV, as if he couldn't stand looking at me anymore; not that it mattered.

Continuing a few steps down before I answered. "Better." I nodded before I turned my back to them and walked into the empty kitchen, showing that I missed breakfast and that mom and dad already left for work.

Opening the fridge and taking the leftover sandwich from breakfast. Placing the plate with the avocado sandwich on the counter next to the fridge before grabbing a re-filled bottle of water.

Taking the bottle between my teeth so I can take everything at once, my hands occupied with the plate and phone. Halfway to the living room so I could sit on the couch with the guys and watch something on the TV while I ate, my teeth ached.

My brother laughed at me when I came into sight of them instead of helping me. Looking up, ready to let the bottle fall to the table in front of the two couches; when a camera clicked and made me look up to the dark haired male in front of me. "I swear to god if you don't delete that photo right now I'm gonna kick your ass." I swore when the bottle was on the table together with the plate and my phone.

Showing me the screen of his phone while he pressed 'delete' on the photo he took. "Done." He locked the phone before meeting my gaze for a second before he looked down on my raw lips from yesterday's forgotten moment.

"Good." I mumbled while I sat down next to my brother on the couch in front of the TV. Lending to the table and taking my plate of sandwich onto my lap. "Let's at least put on something good." I groaned when I realized the show on the TV is the one I despite most of the shows they watch when they are together.

"Like what?" My brother asked, meeting my gaze as a smirk turned up on my raw lips. "No, I've had enough of them. We can change programs as long as neither of them are involved, right?" He turned to Charles who only gave my brother a small nod before looking down at his phone again.

Cursing something under my breath, I didn't think I could convince Max or Charles to watch another movie with either Chris nor Sebastian but it was worth the chance. Settling myself properly on the couch next to my brother when I lifted my avocado sandwich to my mouth.

Grabbing the TV controller from my brother's lap even if I told them only seconds ago that I would let them choose the movie. Clicking into my profile to find the movie easier, knowing I got the movie placed in 'my list' on Netflix. "Hell no Maddison, not that movie!" My brother grunted when I clicked on 'The Bronze' mostly to annoy Max since he accidentally walked in and looked at the screen during the sex scene.

"There is nothing wrong with this movie!" I argued with my brother when he stood up from the couch both of his had been sitting on.

"If we're watching this movie, then I'm out." Max mumbled while pointing his thumb behind his back before heading towards the kitchen, leaving Charles and me alone in the same room even if no door separated us from my brother.

"Did mom and dad leave for work?" I asked Charles without looking away from the movie that played in front of me on the TV. I couldn't feel his burning on my skin which showed that he wasn't looking at me while I ate or spoke.

He let out an amused laugh before I could feel his burn on my skin, it wasn't as intense as yesterday but I could still feel his eyes on me even if I didn't look at him no matter how tempting it would be to tilt my head to the side and look at him again and take in his looks again. "Yeah." The fire left my body with only a few useless sparks when he looked away.

Ten minutes later my brother rushed into the living room and grabbed the TV controller from next to the now empty plate. "What are you doing?" I asked when he changed into his profile and turned on Evan's favorite movie except for the marvel movies.

"Heard that this movie was good so why not watch it?" Max grumbled when he sat down on the couch a bit more comfortably. Knowing exactly what happens in the movie I've watched a hundred times, I stood up from the couch. "Where are you going?"

Grabbing the things I've left on the table in front of the couches before I answered my brother. "Kiron is going to be here any minute."

"You haven't even looked at the time."

"I have a good feeling of time." I lied. My brother knew I lied also, knowing that I don't have a good feeling for time. Max let out an amused chuckle while I walked towards the kitchen to leave the plate and refill the water bottle before putting it into the fridge.

Sitting on my bed after changing into training clothes; thinking through the choreography I've learned at the Dance Awards so I was prepared to focus on my moves and not choreography steps. My phone buzzed, getting a notice from my friend.

Kiron: I'm outside

Taking a pink sweatshirt that was hanging over my desk chair before I walked down the stairs. Pulling up my boots pants when it felt as if they were going to fall off before I could tie the rope on the inside of them.

Tying a knot while I walked into the kitchen to grab the bottle of water that I placed in the fridge fifteen minutes ago. "Try to not miss me too much!" I said when I stood by the front door after taking on my white crocs.

"Don't worry little sis, we won't." Max answered with a smug as he looked at me one second before turning himself into the movie yet again. Charles didn't even look at me, good.

Walking out the front door, seeing Kiron's silver Audi waiting for me on the street. Locking the door after myself before walking to my friend's car. Yesterday's clear sky was filled with thick gray clouds. "Hello crocs girl." Kiron greeted me when I sat down in his car. The old nickname from childhood moments when we first met and was going to do a choreography together, ending up with me throwing my neon pink crocs in his face.

"Face plant." I greeted with a laugh, remembering Kiron getting the shoe in his face that made him fall to the ground; face first.

"Long time no see." Kiron said with a smile. His brown skin was warm against mine when we side hugged over the console. "Ready to meet the reserves today?" He asked when he pressed the accelerator and started driving down the street towards the dance studio.

"I guess." I shrugged, looking out in front of me on the way that passed in front of my eyes. The buildings we left behind for a while the car flew through town. It has been a while since I last saw my friend. From seeing each other every other day to about a week passing without seeing each other, it's unusual for us dance partners.

"Ready?" Kiron asked once he stopped in the parking lot outside the studio. Giving my friend a nod as answer before both of us jumped out of the car and walked against the front door into the red brick building.

Ignoring the lady by the front desk as much she ignores her work that was to answer calls and greet people that walk inside. Kiron walked in front of me when we reached the door into the studio. Cameron sat on one of the benches along the mirror covered wall; looking up from his phone when the door closed behind us. He let out an amused laugh before he spoke. "You're actually in time for once." Our instructor walked up and gave us one short hug each.

"You sound surprised." I joked.

Cameron petted my shoulder before looking around in the room. "Start doing some stretches while we wait for Neva and Claire." Kiron and I nodded before we placed our stuff on the bench where Cameron earlier sat and waited for us. Walking up to the mirror wall that had a railing; mostly for ballet or stretches. Lifting my foot up to the highest set and leaning over my leg to touch my foot, feeling my muscles on the back of my leg strain. Switching between flexing and pointing my foot to stretch different parts on my leg without switching position.

The door closed behind my back, looking over my shoulder to see a beautiful brown skinned woman with her black curly hair in a low ponytail. "Hello, sorry that I'm late. I got some complications on the way over here." Her voice broke in an accent that I couldn't place.

Cameron waved her off while she took off her shoes. "It's fine, just start doing some stretches while we wait for the last person to come." She gave him a nod while she walked over to my side.

"Is it okay that I stretch here also?"

"Yeah, sure." I gave her a nod while I switched legs to do the same on the other. "I'm Maddison by the way." I broke the silence that fell over us.

"I'm Neva." A smile interrupted on her brown bump lip, her amber brown eyes sparkled with enthusiasm while she spoke. "You seem very nice."

"Thank you, I guess." I chuckled at the awkward conversation that still somehow was comfortable.

We continued speaking while resting our legs on the railing before switching to the floor. Spreading my legs into a wide, split position: stretching my groin. Talking to Neva where things got less awkward while we spoke and stretched. Feeling if there were any tense muscles that I needed to think more of during the choreography to not risk getting injured.

The slow, relaxing music streamed through the big speakers when the door opened once again. Looking to my side just as everyone else to see who was the reserve for Kiron. "Welcome Claire." Cameron spoke, a bit annoyed by her lateness that didn't seem to face the woman. Her straight  blonde hair was up in a high ponytail, her cheeks a bit flustered from something.

Once my mind got to senses, knowing that I have seen her somewhere else; more than stepping through the door into the studio.

It was the woman that had walked into my boyfriend's house and asked if I was another one of his whores.

Kill me now...
